  1. That's really cool.
  2. Edit to above: I now realize that "Cloudbusting" is a cover song and therefore Matt may not have the rights to post the lyrics on his website, or they can be found elsewhere, so forgiven.
  3. In this day and age, if I go out and spend $15 or whatever on a CD when I could very easily pirate it because I want to support the artist at the very least give me the damn lyrics in the booklet...it only amounts to about an extra 11x8" page of paper. I call bullshit on "we want to save paper for the environment, go online" stuff, it's usually about reducing production costs by the record company. They're even missing all the lyrics to "Cloudbusting" on mg.org for fuck's sake. Oh and thanks for the replies everyone. Mine's also a Digipak from HMV.
  4. I'm wondering what kind of packaging the CD is being sold in, or at least what you members of The Bored of seen it in so far? Is the CD sold in a plastic jewel case or a cardboard digipak?
  5. This new single is a solid, catchy tune, but nothing I'm quite blown away with. Reminds me of the catchy tunes Matt had in plenty on the Arrows and Vancouver albums. I think Arrows of Desire was a good record with quite a few really good songs. It just wasn't an amazing record. It didn't push a lot of boundaries, like something like Lights of Endangered Species or Avalanche did, or even Hospital Music (this one thematically and lyrically speaking).
  6. That's awesome, I'm excited to hear something different from him, pushing into new musical formats and challenges. Good luck Matt!
  7. Ya they're very short without much info, but better than nothing so I won't complain.
  8. Catchy tune, i like it thumbs up. The catchy tune parade from Arrows of Desire continues onto this record. I like the intro, sounds like his dog barking at howling coyotes (or wolves, whatever the heck they have where he lives)?
  9. Not a member of "His Band", was a member of Matthew Good Band.
  10. Since the breakup of Matthew Good Band, Matt has used a variety of musicians in his solo career both on tour and in studio to play various vital instruments such as drums, bass, lead guitar, keyboards etc. At various point in Matt's solo career, this backup bunch has been billed as "His Band" on his tours, ie: the poster below: So who is your favorite member of "His Band" over the years? (Let's just assume any musician that has played live on tour with Matt since his 1st solo tour (Avalanche) is a member of "His Band", whether officially billed as "His Band" or not).
  11. Matt: Hey let's record everything in analog, it will sound like some amazing bombastic motherfuckerness. Wayne: Shit fucking right, let's do this! 6 months later... Average Fan #1: OMG new Matt Good album is out! Average Fan #2: Oh sweet, let's listen to it on YouTube in shitty digitially compressed 126 kbps (the max audio bitrate any Youtube video will play, even HD) on my shitty laptop speakers through my shitty soundcard by the user who ripped it through some shitty free video-editing software. Average Fan #1: OMG all analog, sounds so good!
  12. I always thought that demo you just linked to that Matt posted on his blog years ago was fantastic. You're right, it would have been perfect for Arrows. I always wanted If I Was a Tidal Wave on a record release, it's a great song that deserved more exposure, though the verse lyrics would be lost on most people now.
  13. I think it means something like "shit or get off the pot".
  14. front to back, it's a really strong album. Would be easier to name my least favorite songs, which are Had It Coming (the talking lyrics are kinda annoying) and Letters In Wartime (very slow and undynamic). I don't hate those songs, but if I skip any songs it's often those 2. All the other songs have such great hooks.
  15. Caught the Ottawa show on the 12th. Short set but only $15 in advance (and for charity) so well worth it. Setlist below I believe is accurate, can anyone else vouch? Band was in great form, Matt was on & with lots of energy, Jimmy was rocking those solos like a motherfucker (his energy is always awesome!), Milos was Milos, Anthony was Anthony, and Blake looked in great shape. Crowd was very energetic (crowdsurfing, lots of peeps singing) but were all there for a volleyball tournament earlier in the day so tons of drunk young 20's douchebags I wanted to punch in the face. 16. Sorry to hear this horrible news. Chris definitely kept this place alive for a long time and his absence is felt by everyone no doubt. Some people here were a bit hard on him sometimes because he would post a lot of random threads that sometimes didn't make much sense, but I'm sure this had to do with his disability and I guess none of us fully comprehended it. If we had I'm sure we would have been much more understanding. To his big sis, thanks for sharing what you did. Nice to know this place was a comfort for him.
  17. You did a great job on the design, one of my favorites for a Matthew Good album and merch. By the way, what's up with the double-CD packaging in your portfolio? As far as I know the CD only came with 1 disc and no fold-out for a 2nd disc. Was a 2nd disc planned? If so, what for?
  18. Rock has mostly been taken over by hipster "indie" bands. "Indie" music, as a musical genre, started to become really popular around 5 years ago or so. Now it dominates the rock scene. It's good in the fact that actual rock bands besides Nickelback are becoming a bit more popular, but bad in the fact that, yes, these bands have little to no edge/aggression to them. Maybe the rock scene needs another "grunge"-like movement ala Nirvana/Pearl Jam etc. in the early 90's to bring back some real rockers and bury the posers. Also consider that the "hard rock" scene has been fucking murdered by mainstream corporate rock radio stations who have played absolute SHIT bands like Nickelback and their clones for years and won't stop playing Kings of Leon hits.
  19. I'm sure everyone here would love every show released in full for your next tour. I'd figure it would be easier for you too since you wouldn't need to review every song but just upload it all. Personally, one concern for solo acoustic shows is that recordings likely wouldn't sound quite as good if recorded from the soundboard compared to recording from an external mic (like in quality bootleg likes this) because the soundboard usually misses the natural acoustics and reverb added to your voice/guitar that comes from indoor venues. Outdoor venues probably wouldn't be affected much, but IMO your solo acoustic shows sound much better indoors anyways for those reasons. But if faced with soundboard vs nothing, obviously I'd still love it if you released the soundboard for full shows.
  20. I have somewhere around 70 GB worth of MP3's, plus a few FLAC albums. About 12,000 songs and 800 albums worth.
  21. Yeah. That song may be full orchestra, but the song lives and dies on Matt's vocals and the percussion. Get the vocals somewhere near epic plus the thundering "da-da-da-da-dum-dum" percussion part, then throw in some acoustic guitar for the rest of the rhythm, and it's golden. In Matt's defense, given that he has been sick for some days, and possibly not feeling 100% during that show, expecting him to perform a song with the vocal ferociousness of WWWHR near 100% amazingness while possibly ill is not fair to him. Glad he's been playing i again this tour.
  22. I agree. His playing is better on this tour. Last tour it was definitely sloppy at times. I agree. Matt says it's a hard song to sing, and I believe him, but his vocals are weak on the live track. Sounded better last tour.
  23. Random coolness: Watching the video for "Weapon" on AUX TV. Now when is the last a Matthew Good video, especially this old, has been on national television? AUX TV is a great channel, it plays all the stuff Much Music used to play before it turned to complete utter shit.
  24. Matt's admitted in a few recent interviews that he pretty did all the song-writing for MGB, and that Dave got too much credit. So maybe it would be more accurate to say that for AoB, Carmelina, The Fall of Man, Under The Influence and Antipop sounds like the older hard alternative stuff on Beautiful Midnight & Underdogs, while a lot of the other tracks on AoB sound like Avalanche.
  25. I totally agree. That version of Symbolistic White Walls is amazing! The person who posted that audio also posted all the songs from that show, and all the other songs have around 500-2000 views each (a couple have 3000), while that Symbolistic White Walls track has 14,000 views. Obviously a ton of fans agree with us. Matt, please bring this version back live!
