I've got a couple of compliments on that t-shirt over the past little bit.

That's a ton of shows, wow! Congrats Matt! According to Matt's website, he'll be playing on the 20th, which is the Saturday. I'd highly recommend camping at Elora Gorge if you're coming down for the show. It's a great place.
-
Yeah, I'm not buying one. Especially because it doesn't benefit Matt at all.
-
You guys usually have the big Bluesfest every year, so there's at least a chance. I'm hoping there will be more announcements.
-
It's popped up on my feed lately too. I figured it was the same place where the mugs were being offered from. If it wasn't a purple shirt, I would consider it. If they could at least make some better merch, I might actually buy it lol.

Good news if you live in Ontario: Matt Good was announced as part of the lineup for Riverfest Elora 2016, which runs August 19-21, 2016 in Bissell Park in Elora, Ontario. Other acts announced are Sheepdogs, Wintersleep, Chromeo, Hey Rosetta, Walk Off The Earth, Ivory Hours, Yukon Blonde and 54-40. Presale tickets are available now until Saturday for $115 for the whole weekend. I'd love to go personally. Elora is probably one of the nicest places I've been to in Ontario. The Elora Gorge is a campground nearby, and it's amazing. If I could line it up so that I could see Matt, Wintersleep, and Ivory Hours on the same day, I would definitely go.

Just saw the news about Prince's passing. What a shock. He was a very unique musician, who no doubt influenced many musicians today. 2016 is shaping up to be a pretty memorable year for celebrity deaths.

This summer is shaping up to be awesome! Against Me! just announced more dates, and they're coming to London in June! I've never had the chance to see them, so I'm pretty excited for that. Their last album, Transgender Dysmorphia Blues was amazing. They should have a new one out around that time.

I think it was because it all came together at once. The mid-90s were a rock-driven time mostly. Rap and hip-hop were big as well, but pop music wasn't as big during that time. I think the combination of rock being on top and a plethora of good Canadian rock or alternative bands hitting their stride led to that influx into mainstream culture.

Good article. Thanks for posting. It does bring back good memories of those huge Canadian artists. Those were definitely the good days for all of those bands.

Puddle of Mudd in the past maybe. Don't know what they sound like with Wes Scantlin (sp) in the middle of an epic mental breakdown. One of my favourite and local bands, The Reason, were a group that I loved. I was pumped when they announced that they were doing a documentary about touring in support of their last album. However, from what I've heard, the doc's story changed to how hard it is to survive as a Canadian act. I missed the premiere of it, so I'm hoping it pops up somewhere. I'd like to find the bar in Hamilton that the lead singer works at for a day job and drink with him. I think it's hard to be a musician in general these days. I can't imagine any of them making a living off of record sales alone, unless you're Adele or Beiber. The money comes from busting your ass and playing as many shows as possible.

I'm buying Brian Fallon tickets today when the presale starts. He's doing a club show at the same venue that Matt played at this year. Pretty pumped for that. His newest solo album is pretty good.
-
I'm glad that Matt is supporting the Junos this year. I know it's a silly award show, but it's a celebration of Canadian artists, at a time where our music scene is expanding. I might even actually watch the show this year.

Thanks for your service. I wish now that I had joined the army when I was younger. I have no desire to be in the infantry or anything, but would have loved to have been in some sort of technical profession. They give you an education for free, basically. If I had been smarter when younger, I could have.

Doesn't get much more Canadian than that.... Either scenario would be fantastic, him doing a cover or Gord doing it with him.
-
I've got a Seagull Coastline. It's a nice looking guitar with a great sound, and they're also Canadian (Quebec) made. I bought it probably 15 years ago, and it still looks great. It looks like Long & McQuade sells them as well. Mine is just a simple acoustic. I would highly recommend anything from this company.

I think it comes down to styles that they play. I don't know a ton about either of them, but it seems like Jimmy is more of a showy rock style, and Stu is a little more nuanced. Jimmy's more entertaining to watch on stage,

I can see why they went with No Liars. It has a pretty catchy hook. It's one of those songs that gets stuck in your head. It's a little more accessible to the average music listener than Army of Lions. Don't get me wrong, I like both songs. I can just understand why the label went with it. The fan favourites and the radio singles don't typically mesh up.

The expansion for Last Of Us is well worth your time. Really well done. -

Thanks for the tip. I have decent speakers already but I will look into a cheap pre-amp for sure. -
Advice Needed For A Vinyl Setup

Looks like I'm finally going out to get a turntable. I've never really had room for an audio setup with a turntable. But now that I'm almost done finishing my basement, I'm starting to look again at buying one. I have my tuner and everything already, just need to get something to play some of this vinyl that I've got. -

Reviving this thread because they're coming to North America again this summer. Got my tickets for June 1st already in Toronto. Love these guys. They should have a new album coming out around then. -
It sounds like a cool event, although I'm not familiar with any of the other artists other than Alan Doyle and Paul Brandt. It is curious that Matt is participating in something to do with the Junos.

Picked up The Division last night. I've been waiting a while for this one. -
Yeah maybe, but still ...
