I'm going up to see a documentary about one of my favourite bands, The Reason, in two weeks, so I'll let you know. Haven't spent much time there.

What Videogame(s) Are You Playing Right Now?
hoogie replied to Moonlight_Graham's topic in Tech Section: A Hard Drive at Risk
It's to stop the clock. If you're winning, and have the ball with 40 seconds left, you can run down the clock and take 24 seconds off the game by just holding it for the shot clock duration. So the losing team intentionally fouls or at least tries to aggressively strip the ball. It gives the other team the chance to score more baskets, but you get the ball back right away with little time lost. It doesn't work most of the time, but it's better than watching the clock die I guess. The losing team has to go for a three, and the defence knows it, so they pressure the shot, and it usually misses. I thought you were talking about some players who intentionally try to get fouled when taking a shot. They go up to shoot and basically try to throw themselves at the defence. Derozan from the Raptors does it all the time, and it drives me crazy, like soccer players flopping. -

The game itself is good, about the same as it usually is. The problem is the story mode. You start off as a high school player, and progress through there, which is cool, but there are a million cut scenes telling the story. Spike Lee apparently directed the story mode, and it is brutal. Tons of boring cut scenes to play a few minutes per game. It gets better once you get into your second year in the NBA. It's much better now. The crowd there was excellent. I'm sure lots of people are missing having the team there, but they must not have gone to Grizzlies games that much for the team to move to Memphis. I love basketball, but the intentional fouls to stop the clock at the end of the game drive me crazy. I'm assuming that's what you mean. The game wasn't on here, but I've got the hour long version sitting on my PVR right now. -

Last of Us is incredible. It's going to be such a long wait for the second one. I gave up on Metal Gear. Was taking way too long to get through it, and I wasn't really enjoying the game. Traded it in and got NBA 2K16. Kind of annoying so far. Also got in the Rainbow Six beta. I could barely get into a match before it dropped out. Frustrating. -
First, thanks to Matt for giving his candid thoughts about his situation and the state of the music industry in general. I can't imagine trying to make money in this day and age. Especially as a Canadian musician. I don't think anyone can fault you for your tour schedule. The harsh reality is that going on tour is the only real way for artists to make money. If you're going to lose money, or even break even, why bother unless you're just starting out and trying to cut your teeth. Booking a venue costs money. If you're playing for 30 people, you're clearly not going to make any money that way. In my opinion, make whatever choices you need that are best for you. All I want is to continue enjoying your music. I would definitely support any Kickstarters or similar programs that you could use. Paying a bit more for a vinyl or something and giving you a chance to get it out there is well worth it. I missed the deadline to support Super Troopers 2, but they had an awesome program to fund the movie earlier this year. "Demo-itis" sucks. I always listen to the demos, as I did with this album. However, I can appreciate them, and the difference between them and the album track. It's like having a bonus experience with the song. It's awesome to see where you were before going into the studio. I'm certainly not going to shit on any of the changes you've made, because it's not fair or realistic to shit on something that you're doing as a favor for us, the fan. I like being able to listen to both, so kudos to you for giving us the chance. That being said, I understand if you choose not to release them going forward, because basically, people are assholes. I will continue to support you going forward with whatever you do because your music has changed my life in an amazing way.

My copy came in the mail yesterday too. Pretty sweet. My copy came today as well. Pretty sweet. The stores all get this kind of stuff (CD's, games, etc.) a few days before the release, so I'm sure they started to ship them out before the release date.

There was no real announcement today but they added a London show on December 15th. So glad that I didn't rush out and buy tickets for somewhere else.

Happy CD Release Day!!!

Beginning the painful process of going to my mailbox and hoping to see that damn CD in there today.

I missed him on The Edge last night. Such a bummer. Wade from Alexisonfire does a late night show on the station that's always amazing. Add Matt to that, and with the relationship they have, it's gold.

I love that song as well. It's definitely got a single vibe. Love that record in general.

I'm surprised Anthony isn't going to be on the tour. Any guesses to who could be replacing him? Milos seems pretty busy these days, so it's not really shocking. I'm glad Stu is going to be back this time around. I like Jimmy, and he's even better live, but I prefer Stu. Hoping for more Vancouver tracks this time around. Great Whales of the Sea especially please!

I'm really happy with what Warner has been doing for him with this album. I've listened through a dozen times or so now, and I'm impressed. Love Tiger By The Tail and Los Alamos the most.

I didn't get in either...

Shouldn't be that harsh. It's not too bad. If you like nature, there's plenty of exploring to do. The escarpment is amazing in Hamilton. Really cool area to check out.
-
My recommendation is to leave Hamilton and go somewhere else, lol. There's a pretty big mall there, the Upper Canada Mall. It's decent. You could go catch an OHL hockey game if you're a fan of hockey. I've only eaten at chain restaurants there, but The Keg is always a good choice if you don't mind paying a bit for a good steak. You're also really close to other great cities too.

Need New Music Recommendations

That album is very good, although I don't like Believe. Too wishy washy for me. The Wolf and Snake Eyes are both fantastic though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRgJZFpoBxg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGeSO84aDBE Funny story about how I found this group, Jon and Roy. I was driving around last night, and had the radio station set to the channel that I normally use for my FM transmitter. I didn't have my iPhone on, so it was just picking up random stuff. At one point, this song came on, and I loved it, so I grabbed my phone and used Shazam to grab it. Love this group now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UaTSU-ALjM -
Love "No Liars" also. This album is likely to be one of my favourites, judging by what I've heard so far.

I've tried a few times to get into Snake Eater but I find it difficult. I should go back and play the games through in order. I've played Phantom Pain for a while now, but I still feel like I've barely made it anywhere in game. Must be fairly long. -

I know, it's pretty confusing. I've got the game that came out a year or so ago that's kind of a prequel, but I haven't played it yet. It's also hard because the newer games all take place before the time of the original Metal Gear Solid. I'm pretty lost, but Wikipedia is decent help. -
Yeah but I think I should have come up with a better question. It's all good though.
-
Yeah sorry, I meant I saw it the second time I read through. Good catch.

I picked up the new Metal Gear too. It's pretty good. It took me a little while to get used to playing that type of game again. Enjoying it though. Well worth playing it, although the story is a little weak this time. -
I must have missed it the first time I read through.
