The Roxodus festival next weekend has been cancelled. Apparently the airport it's being held at has had way too much rain, and they can't put the festival on. They looked for other options, but nothing was available, so they're cancelling the whole thing. It might become a sticky situation, because there's fine print on the tickets that say no refunds in any case. Lot of people spent a lot of money for tickets and camping, so I'm curious to see what happens.

Scored amazing tickets to Matt Mays in London. First seats in the mezzanine.

Matt Mays just announced a pretty big tour this fall. Probably going to check it out.

I forgot to post it when they came out, but it's a really good interview. I remember hearing it back in the day when it originally aired. By the way, Alan's show and podcast are second to none when it comes to music journalism. There's a ton of episodes available on the podcast channel, and he keeps adding more from the archives every week.

Can't wait for the new season.

I got there probably at 6:45, and there were maybe only 20 people ahead of me, plus the VIP people. I wish I had gotten there sooner, but I second-guessed my initial parking space and ended up driving around for a while to find a closer one.

We were five or six rows back from the front. I got there and lined up early since I knew it was first come first serve, and I didn't know who the seating was going to work. I didn't realize that whole new section was up there until we got up to leave. It looked like there was quite a bit of seating back there. I've never been up there in this venue, but I think it would be cool to sit against the glass railing to watch a show.

It was around 30-40 minutes for her set.

Just got back from the London show. What a night! Matt was in a really good mood throughout the show. He was hilarious between songs, polishing off a few gin and tonics and talking a fair bit. Someone at some point yelled, asking about an after party. Matt scoffed and said “Afterparty? I’m 48 effing years old. I didn’t go to after parties when I was young enough to go, let alone now.” There were a fair hit of idiots yelling, but Matt didn’t seem affected by it. Some old guy came up to the stage twice and tried to tell Matt something, but he just kept his head down. The guy was weird. The acoustic format is so great. You can hear the nuances in his guitar playing, and the lyrics really shine. Got to hear Tripoli and Blue Skies, so my night was made. Thanks again to Matt for coming out and giving us the gift of this tour. https://www.instagram.com/p/BupwFvMAaNz/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=wh6kf0ukgiu Pretty standard set list, nothing different I don’t believe. What a great night.

Apparently the North Bay show was pretty rowdy last night: https://twitter.com/NorthBayPolice/status/1102409498864635906 There was a fight during the show, and the police took two people out. At an acoustic show? Crazy.

Excited for Tuesday too...

What Videogame(s) Are You Playing Right Now?

Played The Division 2 beta over the weekend. Looks slightly better than the first one. -
Jesus man, I'm so sorry to hear. My condolences to you and your family.

I'm 30 hours into Assassin's Creed Odyssey and it's a great game. Feels like I've barely scratched the surface. -
Awesome that Fine Art of Falling Apart has been on both of those setlists.
-
Going to the London show, which I saw is now sold out. I'm not hoping for anything in particular. I always really enjoy these acoustic shows, as Matt has a lot of range in the songs that he plays on these tours.
-
Damn missed this one. Sounds cool though.
-
Heard it. Like it a lot. Very cool melodies.

They announced the opener for the tour yesterday as Poesy. Here's a link to her stuff: https://poesy.lnk.to/strangelittlegirl Haven't heard of her, but I'll check it out. I have a pretty good track record with liking Matt's openers. Does anyone remember if Kathleen Edwards ever opened for him? I think I'm mixing it up with when I saw the Hip.

The show is very well done. I love the vibe and I'm not even a huge sci-fi person.
-
The seating will be different, but I asked a friend who's been there to watch the indie wrestling that's there sometimes, and he said it's fine. I've always wanted to watch a show from up there because it's way less crowded. It'll be strange to fight over a spot to sit. Guess I better show up when the doors open for once.

Quite the change in your list of shows from tours past.... A church would be a fantastic setting for a show. Sounds cool.

This is the response from the Music Hall: The entire show is seated. It is a Matt Good acoustic show. With GA Floor, you can access floor or balcony seats at, first come first serve. The tickets that are left are the reserved seats in our new balcony mezzanine So it's a seated show in a club. Should be interesting. And they apparently have a new mezzanine section, which is news to me. I don't know where it is, but the railing standing room is a good angle to see a show.
-
That is really weird. When my brother bought tickets, they were at $46 for GA. Now it says it's a seated venue, which I doubt. The only thing I can think of is that the balcony will be seated for this, but again, I've never seen that at the Music Hall, and I've been there a bunch of times. I know it's a good place to be, but I've never been up there. I'll reach out to them on Facebook, because that is strange.

I saw that too. I don't disagree with his opinion. That song seems a little off tonally from the rest of the album. I don't know if it's just the intro and the starting piano chord, but it does sound a little jarring when listening through the album. I don't dislike the song that much though, just doesn't really fit.
