  1. I think most of them were only up for maybe half a day, its easy to miss them, I missed most of them as well.
  2. I just assumed it was about terminal disease in general, I kind of thought it was about cancer because I know in his interview on The Hour I think he talked about all the people close to him who had been affected by cancer. But as it was said earlier, there is nothing wrong with interpreting lyrics differently to mean something else to you. I thought it was "bad" drugs, I guess it is "bagged".
  3. Just got back from the Nanaimo show, since its the end of the tour people probably aren't as interested in setlists but here it is (order in the middle might be a bit messed up). The order was a bit different than what he has been playing: Champions of Nothing Apparitions Single Explosion Odette It's Been a While Since I Was Your Man The Devil's in Your Details Born Losers Hello Time Bomb Put Out Your Lights I'm A Window 99% of Us is Failure Blue Skies Over Badlands Black Helicopter Weapon Giant Load Me Up Girl in the War After the first few songs, the crowd sang Happy Birthday for Matt, to which he replied "that's why we're the professionals" haha. At one point someone in the crowd yelled out "nice guitar!" when he took out his SG. He replied quickly "it is, isn't it" and then starting talking about the guitar for awhile. Most of the crowd didn't seem to be all that into it though, 95% of them were just sitting still in their seats watching the show. Kind of made me feel a bit self concious when I was getting into it a bit. There was some good energy in the encore, a lot of people seemed to be into Giant. It was an excellent venue, a newer small theatre, great sound and very loud. The highlight of the show for me was Weapon, just the way they played it was great. My brother, who is not a major MG fan, said he thought it was an amazing bargain for the price the ticket and the quality of the show. I would have to agree.
  4. Wish I was there, sounds like a great show. I thought he would play 2 encores in Vancouver like he did in Toronto. I don't really get why the big venue shows get a longer set list by 4-5 songs but oh well. It's up to him I guess how big of an encore he plays, if he is really into it that night.
  5. So I am going to the Nanaimo show on Sunday night. Wish I could be in Vancouver on Thursday but its not possible for me. I'm sure Nanaimo will be good though! Anyway, I just have some basic questions about the shows. Some of them may seem stupid, but I actually have not been to a concert like this before haha. Are The Spades still opening for Matt in his western shows? I'm pretty sure they are, but I thought I heard that they were only opening for the Ontario shows. The ticket says it starts at 7:30. Is that when Matt comes on or is that when the opening band comes on? What time should I get there if I want to be there early (when they start letting people in)? How long is Matt usually on stage? Also, the ticket says "no cameras". Do you think I would have a problem getting in just a normal, cheap digital camera just for taking a few still pictures? I saw some people talking about this on here before. Thats about it, thanks in advance.
  6. I don't mind people talking about their dissapointment in a show. Although, I think it should be expected that when you go to a festival show you are going to pay more to see a shorter set list filled with radio singles amongst people who aren't Matt Good fans. I just don't think it's fair to critisize the show based on the set list content or length. I think its important to realize when you buy tickets to that show you are buying tickets to go to the festival and not to a Matt Good show.
  7. sounds to me like there was no possible way that the show could have happened. I think any reasonable, educated person could see that it wasn't his fault and they did the best, safest thing. I think its horrible that people still contact him angry about it anyway. But, this would probably be why most artists don't allow people to contact them directly. I feel bad for him though and I can see why he is pissed. I hope he is still into playing though, because I am excited to see him in Nanaimo. I also have a friend who I recently made into a MG fan, and he is looking forward to the Victoria show.
  8. I would assume he is just taking time off blogging. I can't see him cancelling shows for any other reason than sickness or family issues etc. if he was cancelling shows he would have said so. He just seems really pissed right now over his bad experiences with the after show signings and then the negative feedback he got when he talked about discontinuing them. I don't know how many people here saw the entry he had posted before this one (he took it down when he posted this one, I dont think it was up for very long). He went on at great length about the negative emails he got about discontinuing the aftershow signings. He was upset about one email in particular, where someone told him that he "doesn't have a real job" and he shouldn't complain. He then talked about how he does the music for himself and not the fans etc. He seemed pretty fed up. Matt does all this great stuff for us fans, keeping us in the loop with his blog and allowing people to email him directly. Also with the signings after the shows. Unfortunatly the reality is when you do that stuff, not every interaction is going to be positive. People will post negative comments on the blog, send negative email and drunk people are going to come up to you after the show. Its just fact that there will be idiots in every group of people. I kind of wish he wouldn't let these people get to him so much, but I can understand how it could piss him off after a while. Its up to Matt to do this stuff, and it is his right to take it away.
  9. yeah, there is software that does that apparently. From what I understand, the process involves... loading the song into a program that maps out the notes and exports it into the proper format somehow replacing the normal songs on the game with your custom songs, again using software of some sort. burning a new copy of the game and playing it on a PS2 that is modified to play burnt games The whole things seems like a lot of work and frustration to me, I like to think I am a "techy" person but this seems over my head. If you want to check it out, this forum seems to have a lot of info on it: http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=16 I personally think Guitar Hero is really quite boring, although it fun when you first start playing it. I agree though, I wouldn't mind playing some Matt Good songs on there. I think my choices would be songs like Load Me Up, Everything is Automatic and Time Bomb.
  10. On Guitar Hero II, people found a way to hack the PS2 version so you can load any song onto it. I don't know the specifics but it can be done, sounds like its a big process though and you need be pretty handy/tech saavy. I think it involves actually opening up the PS2 and modifying it. If you just do a google search it will come up with a bunch on info on how to do it. I looked into it a while back. thats why you can search youtube for almost any song on guitar hero and it will come up with someone playing it.
  11. I think it would be pointless for him to start another "Matthew Good Band", the only thing that would change is him having full-time band members. I don't think he wants to be attached to a group of guys, he probably wants to do his own thing. I think he also enjoys the freedom to go off and do the acoustic shows. When he made that post on his blog the other day about drugs, he mentioned that in 2005 members of the band/crew had been doing drugs behind his back. Maybe that could be why he is not with that band anymore?
  12. I'm really quite happy with the set lists so far. It sounded like from all indications before the tour he would be playing a few more songs acoustically though, I guess Aparitions is all he is doing at the moment. To be honest, I don't really think Champions of Nothing is all that great of an opener, I've never liked that song all that much really. I think it would be better if he opened with something a bit more heavy to get people going (maybe Alert Status Red or Put Out Your Lights). Overall though I think the set list is pretty good.
  13. This is also my first MG concert, I'm going to Nanaimo. I kind of wish there wasn't soooo many Hospital Music songs on there. Its a great album, don't get me wrong, obviously since its his newest one it is going to be the most played. But 10 out of 30 songs on the playlist seems a bit much and a lot of the songs aren't really the right mood for a full band show I think. And no 99%?? I am shocked, he even mentioned it in one of flikr vids that it was one he was excited about playing. I kind of wish he would play Apparitions with the band, I know you guys are all tired of hearing it, but I never get tired of that song and I wanted to see him play in its full glory. No songs from LOTGA, I'm not suprised but would have liked to see him bust out Symbolistic or Alabama Motel Room. Obviously like everyone else I'm dissapointed with no Near Fantastica. All the ones he removed from the original list would have been amazing. Definitly agree with the above, I would love to see Born to Kill. But I'm happy he's got Everything is Automatic in there, thats a nice suprise. I think the acoustic set is very good, I'm happy he is playing The Fine Art of Falling Apart and Empty Road. Maybe by the time he gets to Nanaimo he'll have changed it up a bit, added some different ones maybe. Overall of course any set list of his is going to be good, but would have like to see more suprises/old stuff in there.
