  1. Damn, I really slacked with that, I entered it a bunch of times in the first couple weeks after it started... since I've keep meaning to do it but I keep forgetting haha. Oh well, still have a somewhat of a chance I guess, I've probably entered about 10 times. It's done now, you can't enter anymore, so hopefully we'll hear about a winner soon.
  2. There doesn't appear to be anything going on in regards to the next album right now, I think all the focus is towards the upcoming tour.
  3. Judging by his recent posts on the M+ blog (amongst all the tits), I would say that that recording is definitely not going to be happening anytime soon. Matt has said that he has no new material at this point. He seems to be trying to decide the direction of his next album at this point, whether he should make something would appeal a little more to the mainstream (a direction he seems to be leaning in). He also wants to do more solo acoustic tours, so it would likely be something that he could tour that way. I guess LOES hasn't sold very well so far, and it's very difficult to reproduce live, so I think he is hesitant to continue down that road with a wife and kids at home.
  4. I got 2 front row tickets for the Nanaimo show this morning when they went on sale... sold by the theatre, $45 per seat, only $5 fee, the total came to $95. Pretty great value I think, stoked.
  5. The shows on the west coast are so far off I'm not even totally sure where I'll be living by then lol. I'll probably stick with the plan and buy tickets for Nanaimo when they go on sale in August. I guess most of the seats in the first 10 rows are probably being held for VIP packages, I was really hoping to get awesome seats this time but I don't want to buy the VIP package. We'll see what happens I guess. Interesting that the show in Port Alberni looks like it's in a high school gym haha.
  6. I see that now, we should see dates on the site within the next few days then. The tour must be starting in the west, probably in late September then.
  7. Matt just posted on the M+ section of the blog that the lineup for this tour will be Milos on bass, his friend Jimmy Reid on guitar and Ian Browne returning on drums. He said there will also be pianist as well. Hopefully we will get some tour dates soon as he said in a post a few weeks ago that dates will coming in late June or early July. It will be cool to see Ian on the drums as I never saw MGB live, will be interesting to see which songs they play.
  8. Stu and Blake left to focus on their band, The Heartbroken. They are probably touring with them instead. They are leaving on good terms, Matt sounded understanding in his post and encouraged everyone to go out and see The Heartbroken. I agree Milos needs to be a bit more enthusiastic on stage, but I think it's pretty hard to get into playing bass. At the show I was at in Vancouver in 2009, he was actually quite involved in the banter and actually said a few words I think. It seems like him and Matt are good buddies.
  9. I was almost thinking the same thing, Matt saying that things are well in hand seems like it might imply there might be familiar faces coming back, but who knows. When Matt did that question and answer thing in December, I asked him if he would ever play Near Fantastica live again and he said that he probably would, so we can still hold out hope that it could be included in this tour. I also remember him saying when he first started with Blake and Stu that Near Fantastica wouldn't be played because he couldn't find the loop. Shouldn't be too hard to make a new one though.
  10. I have mixed feelings on this development. On one hand I like the idea of having a bit of a fresh sound on this tour and maybe have things changed up a bit. This will be my 3rd time seeing Matt live this fall and the 2 previous times were both with the Stu/Blake lineup, so I'm interested to see what some other musicians can bring to the table. On the other hand, this lineup had just got to the point where they had a good repertoire of back catalogue material available to them (all of Vancouver and HM along with most of the important songs prior to that). If it's a couple new guys in there, it could be like the first tour Matt did with Stu and Blake, where there wasn't much wondering what they would play that night because they didn't have much more than a setlist worth of songs they could play. If it's a new group though, there could be some interesting new twists put on older songs, which would be fun to see. From what I can see, Matt did a lot more of that when he played with Christian and Pat Steward. It's good to hear Matt say the situation is well in hand though, whoever he is playing with I hope they are based out of Vancouver so he doesn't have to go to Toronto to rehearse (although I guess Milos would still have to be there somehow). I guess we might find out some names when dates start surfacing in the next couple weeks. It doesn't sound like this was Matt's choice, so he just has to work with what he's dealt and hopefully it turns out be a nice fresh sound this fall.
  11. This post describes my feelings exactly as well. It's a really good song, I really like it. If I hadn't heard it before many times in demo form over the past year, I would be talking more about how I really like it. It's just because I already know the song well, I tend to pick apart the final product more than focusing on how good it actually is. I'm definitely going to be buying the album, I'll probably buy it the minute it is released on iTunes in addition to picking up a hard copy CD. I'm looking forward to going to my 3rd Matthew Good show in the fall as well.
  12. This is definitely the most "standard" and radio friendly of all the songs on the album, so I wouldn't judge the album from this. I knew this one was going to be the single as soon as he finalized the track listing. There is a lot more different and interesting stuff coming once you hear the whole album (just judging from the demos). I'm a little suprised at how identical this ended up being to the demo version, I was expecting things to have been tweaked and changed a bit more. I'm not getting too much from this, because I first heard it a year ago and it's pretty much the same thing (not saying it's a bad song). It makes me kind of regret listening to all the demos as they came out, but I couldn't resist M+ and I can't stand not being in the loop. I kind of agree with the comments on the drums. I thought the drums could have been a lot more interesting on Vancouver, and I'm hearing the same thing here. It's a combination of them being really simple and not sounding "alive". I was hoping that would be improved with Warne Livesey producing again. I can see Blake is an awesome drummer from watching him live. I think it's because Matt demos drums by tapping his fingers on a keyboard and then they don't get expanded in the studio for some reason. Anyway, overall it's a great song, I really like the piano sound that was used on this version.
  13. I absolutely love it... but It's kind of a dissapointing track to listen to because it feels unfinished (to me). It's such a great song, and then the way it fades out, it kind of feels like a preview or something. Obviously the way it is, is the way it was intended, but it just feels like more of an idea to me than a whole song. It's really unfortunate because it's such a great start.
  14. Just noticed there have been a couple new Canadian dates posted: http://matthewgood.org/tour A theatre show in Kelowna and another festival appearance in Owen Sound, tickets are already on sale for both. Suprised there hasn't been anything posted on the blog about these. Anyway, I guess we still aren't sure if this summer tour is going to be primarily festivals or not.
  15. Great to see it finally up. Sounds like to the content on M+ is going to be awesome. I hope this forum doesn't die down though due to the M+ forum.
  16. awesome, glad I could be of assistance.
  17. Matt has said quite a few times that he isn't making a dime off this tour. He's also said that he has no aspirations of gaining popularity in the US, 15 years into his career. He's doing this tour completely for his US fans. So your really lucky that you get to see any kind of Matt Good show in your area.
  18. I use this site: http://audiko.net/ I have an iPhone and the ones on there work great for that. You can download them in other formats as well, for other phones, I can't say how well that works though. You can also upload your own clips there and I guess you can then download them in the appropriate format, I haven't tried that myself either though.
  19. I keep checking if it's up yet, ready to take out my credit card. Hopefully it will be up in the next couple days, since it says "this week".
  20. I was actually thinking the exact same thing when I was reading that. Not that the shows are boring or anything, same here. Milos was actually pretty involved at the last show I was at in the fall (in terms of the banter mostly). It's hard to see him when you are in the crowd, but from watching him in youtube videos, Blake is rocking out pretty good behind the kit. Stu is pretty involved as well. So I have no complaint about the current guys.
  21. Really nice setlist. I've always thought that Single Explosion would be a good opener. The Weapon->X-rated->Load Me Up->Apparitions combo must have been awesome to. I've always wanted to see him do Alert Status Red as well, but have missed it at both shows I've been to. Sounds like it was definitely a good show, wish I was there.
  22. Sounds like you both saw a really good show last night... nice looking encore. You aren't going to get much better in Canada, most of Matt's sets on the last Canadian tour were 15-17 songs, you got 13 so that's pretty good. You wouldn't get a nice small venue in Canada either.
  23. Agreed, I would be interested to know how the show last night went.
  24. Hmm... I'm not quite as stoked for a audio podcast as I was for a video series (if it is infact goint to be one instead of the other). I don't find the "Germain" routine to be that funny myself, sorry to say.
  25. you can find a lot of old setlists here: http://mattgood.imgarbage.com/tour.php
