  1. just twice... June 2008, Port Theatre in Nanaimo last night in Vancouver
  2. It was just Matt solo... I don't think he ever intended to play the whole thing. He was just messing around I think, maybe reacting to someone in the audience? I didn't quite catch exactly what was going on. And yes, it was infact Suburbia. I loved the live version of Empty's Theme Park that he is doing, it's really different from the album, awesome. When they were playing Weapon, I was positive that was going to be the last song, but then they went into Automatic (which I've always wanted to hear live), so that was a great suprise.
  3. It was an amazing show.... Way better than the one I was at last year. I haven't been to a lot of his shows like some people on here, but I don't know how it could get much better than that. He did a lot of talking on the mic to which was hilarious. I'm glad I was there, Matt was on his game tonight for sure. The Encore was epic, I was so happy he did a couple solo acoustic and I don't think he could have picked three better songs to end on.
  4. I think most people here understand that Matt is just going to play what he wants or is able to. I don't think things posted on here are intended to be addressed towards Matt or taken as requests. Anyway, I'm excited to hear the songs off Vancouver tonight. And I've only seen Matt live once before, so I'm still stoked to hear any song live!
  5. I'll admit that I agree... I mean, I think the lyrics convey a really great message. But, for me it just feels like the song is too long and goes through long draughts where not much happens musically. It may actually be the one and only Matt Good song that I struggle get through the entire track without changing it. And it just didn't fit being placed right in the middle of WLR&RR in my opinion. I hope the show tonight is a good one... hopefully he plays Avalanche again. He didn't play it at the show I was at on the last tour and it sounds like it's amazing live.
  6. Well one nice thing is that it seems the setlists are pretty varied from night to night. The order and the non-Vancouver songs seem to be changing up every night. Last tour, it was pretty much the same setlist every night, with maybe 1 or 2 songs changing at most and the general order being the same. Although all the non-Vancouver ones are ones that they played on the last tour. I think that might just be due to them not having time to rehearse anything after they got through Vancouver. It will be interesting to see what he pulls out in Vancouver, as the shows in Van and Toronto were bigger last time. I'm still hoping that he goes solo with acoustic for one or two at some point. I'm happy to see he played Alert Status Red and I'm a Window, those would two songs I would like to hear. Although I still think that the show could easily be longer than an hour and a half. It might have something to do with how long they have venues for though, I remember him saying something like that last year.
  7. I'll be at the 2nd Vancouver show on Tuesday... I was going to avoid looking at setlists until then, but I cracked just now haha. I was also expecting the sets to be longer by a few more songs, but I guess the actual run time is about the same as the last tour. And yeah, I was expecting to see at least 1 or 2 in there that would be a bit of a suprise, like something more rare that he hasn't played live for a while. I guess, maybe for him, he would rather play a lot of songs off the new album rather than older back catelogue stuff. It's understandable, I wouldn't really call these setlists a "greatest hits", he is there to play Vancouver, which is what he is doing. I'm excited to hear the Vancouver songs live, because those are ones that he has never played live before. I kind of speculate as well that part of it might be due to his band being Toronto now, I don't think he gets to rehearse as much as he did with the band before that. Also rehearsals were contended with Matt being sick, and I guess he is still getting over it. We might see a few different songs popping up as it goes along. Anyway, I'm glad that I looked now, I would rather go in knowing to expect a setlist of basically Vancouver and the singles (not that it's a bad thing). Maybe because he is doing 2 shows at the same venue in Vancouver, he may try to make the set a bit different on the 2nd night. On a side note, I'm also really looking forward to seeing Mother Mother now, I checked them out a while ago and ended up buying both of their albums. I'm really enjoying them.
  8. I account for a good chunck of that video's views lol. He ended the show with Girl in the War in the show I was at on the last tour, it was excellent. Matt really put's some emotion into that song, especially in that Buffalo performance on the video.
  9. I second this motion...
  10. Just bought the two bonus tracks... They are awesome, I love Black Helicopter. It would be awesome if he could somehow make the whole show available. I'll be heading to HMV tommorow afternoon to pick up my copy, I hope they aren't out by the time I get there...
  11. What I don't understand is why he has to go all the way to Toronto to rehearse with the band... Last tour it kind of made sense because they were starting over there. But this one they are starting in BC. Seems kind of odd to me.
  12. I had a similar feeling of suprise today when I was watching the Canucks game and there was an ad for some CD store (maybe HMV or CD Plus), or it could have been Future Shop, I forget. Anyway the whole point of it was promoting that Vancouver is coming out on Tuesday. It was playing Last Parade overtop of parts of the Weapon video lol. I think Matt is still more popular than it would appear.
  13. Well I am really stoked to see the Vancouver stuff live, I think it will make for an awesome show. But yeah, as posted above, you have to factor in that Time Bomb, Load Me Up, Weapon and Apparitions are a given. So that takes it down to 3-5 real back catalogue songs. Not that I have a problem with those songs being played, they are staples for a reason. Although I think it would be cool if Matt took one of Time Bomb or Load Me Up each night, I think that would make sense. It also depends on the show, I think on the last tour there were shows that they played as few as 14 or 15 songs, but in Toronto and Vancouver they played 20. Which I actually don't really agree with, I think if you are going to put on a big show with two encores in the big venues, they should do it for everyone. But I'm sure there was some reason for it, like how long they had the venues for etc. Anyway here would be my setlist for the max amount of songs they would play (20), even though that is probably a little unrealistic. Last Parade The Boy Who Could Explode Great Whales of the Sea Weapon Load Me Up The Vancouver National Anthem Alert Status Red Us Remains Impossible I'm a Window Born Losers On Nights Like Tonight A Silent Army In the Trees Apparitions Empty's Theme Park Giant Symbolistic White Walls Near Fantastica Avalanche Strange Days (Acoustic) The Fine Art of Falling Apart (Acoustic)
  14. damn, I really want to hear this stuff, but everytime I have time to turn on the stream it's just playing the album (not that it isn't amazing in itself). Was it this?
  15. Against what everyone else on this board would pick, I go with Deep Six. Symbolistic White Walls vs. Everything is Automatic
  16. Yeah, I agree. Blue Skies does feel out of place on that album, both in sound and in how it is so long. I really like parts of Blue Skies, but there are long periods of that song where not much really happens (like the beginning).
  17. Jenni's Song is one of my favourites off BM. Yeah, I found the short story a while ago and it's really good, made appreciate the song more.
  18. I think this one got missed... I'll go with Giant for sure I'll leave the one above for someone else.
  19. Like Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance The Fine Art of Falling Apart vs. Fated
  20. I saw him in Nanaimo on the last tour... everyone stayed sitting, some people did stand up for Giant at the start of the encore. I'll be at the 2nd show in Vancouver this time, it would be nice if people would stand up and get into it, but whatever happens it's not a big deal to me. I would think it would be more likely to be standing on this tour, I think the songs on Vancouver lend themselves more to that than Hospital Music.
  21. Yeah, you have a Canadian version, iTunes is just mis-labeling it.
  22. I don't know... for me personally, I Miss New Wave, Let's Get it On and Going All the Way are my three least favourite songs on the album (not that they aren't still great songs). For someone listening to MGB for the first time, replacing those three songs with Deep Six, Apparitions and Everything is Automatic would make that album even better. Remember that this was the only MGB album available in the US at the time. Obviously I would rather have the original 3 songs and also have all of Underdogs, but if that was the only album available to you, the Underdogs songs make it a better album for a first-time listener.
  23. I Miss New Wave was also mis-labeled on iTunes Canada as "Deep 6ix" for a long time there. They've fixed it now. But if you had loaded your CD into iTunes, iTunes may have mis-labeled it that way. I suspect that was the cause for confusion. I have always thought the American version of Beautiful Midnight would have been awesome, with some of the best songs from Underdogs on there as well. Also, I think Hello Time Bomb, Load Me Up, Everything is Automatic and maybe Deep Six were re-mixed or something like that, for the American version. You can hear the difference if you listen to the previews on the American iTunes. I would really like to hear those versions, just out of interest.
  24. You will get all the songs the day the album comes out. I assume it will download automatically at 12am that morning, or the first time that you open iTunes after that. You don't get the bonus songs right away, they come with the album when you get it.
  25. Only the 99% of Us is Failure acoustic is listed as "Presale only" on iTunes. So I think once the album is out, there will be a bonus track version available on iTunes that will include Silent Army acoustic and Black Helicopter. So you will probably be able to buy those two tracks individually once the album comes out, I think, I might be wrong though.
