  1. I first heard Matthew Good Band when in about '99 (9 years old) probably. They were my favourite band when I was 9 or 10 probably lol, I didn't really appreciate how good it really was at that point I don't think. I got into blink-182 and other pop-punk stuff in my teens and completely forgot about Matt Good, I think I sold all my old MGB cds at a garage sale my family had haha. Around 16 or 17 I started getting to more classic and alternative rock stuff, I think I heard Born Losers on the radio when it came out and remembered "hey that's the guy I used to listen to way back". I looked up Matthew Good, more just out of curiousity of where he is now, completely re-discovered MGB and fell in love with the solo stuff. Matt Good was all I listened to for a good year after that, I had that nice period where I was discovering all the music and re-purchasing the albums I had got rid off haha. I got into his stuff again about 2 years ago, and he is still about 60% of what I listen to at this time.
  2. I must say that I really miss the guitar solo in the demo version of Silent Army, the guitar on the album version just seems a bit bland to me after the demo. I was completely in love with the demo of On Nights Like Tonight, and I can't hear the same emotion in vocals on the album version. It's my fault really, I over-listened to the demos I guess and got attached to certain parts haha. Although with every other song, the album version is waaaay better than the demos for me. Edit: just wanted to add that the album as a whole is really growing on me now. I listened to it through once on the first day of stream, and have resisted listening again since. I am just listening to the iTunes stream right now, and am enjoying it a lot more than the first listen. It probably has a lot to do with the sound quality being a lot better. I have thought all along though that this is Matt's best solo album for me.
  3. I know what you mean. I'll buy the hard copy CD, and I'll the Silent Army and Black Helicopter acoustics individually from iTunes. I'm not the going to buy the whole album on iTunes just for 99% acoustic. If they recorded that whole show, I really want to hear the whole thing though. When Massey Hall came out, I bought the first half off of iTunes when it come out early on there, then bought the CD later when that came out. Every artist is doing stuff like that now, trying to get people buy the same thing twice haha. It's not Matt I would assume, it's the record label.

  5. I am pretty positive it will be Us Remains Impossible, it just sounds so radio friendly.
  6. ah i see, like i said I wasn't really aware of what the situation was, I haven't been on the site much in the last week or so. If he is just taking it down to make a new design and/or change up the comment system to make it better, thats awesome. Of course he is under no obligation to do all the blogging that he does. I just think its kind of a shame if he lets idiots get to him and make him stop doing what he obviously enjoys.
  7. what happened? Did he just get pissed off at what people were saying in the comments? I check the site around once per day but I don't read every single entry, or read the comments and I don't have a user account there. I mean, I think the guy is a brilliant and extremely talented man. He puts himself out there so much and openly shares his positions on deeply political and religious issues, and lets people freely contact him. Thats great, but anyone who chooses to do that has to be prepared to get their fair share of critisism and ignorant comments. He only makes it worse I think when he gets upset about it. I don't know what happened recently, but I think Matt should just get past these things a bit and ignore the small percentage of negative feedback that he gets. If this is what he chooses to do he just has to accept that these things will happen. I think to a certain extent he does let the morons win when he takes the site down, even temporarily. He'll be back though.

    2009 Tour

Yeah, unfortunatly for the people in states, he probably won't go down there. Its not worth it cause no one knows who he is outside of the fans that are there.

    2009 Tour

Yeah, I was at the show in Nanaimo last tour and the crowd was dormant, not into it at all for whatever reason. I wanted to go to the Vancouver show but couldn't because of a family commitment. Next tour I will go to a show in Vancouver, Matt seems to put out the extra effort for the big cities. I agree it would be cool if he did a couple shows on the island again as well, I would probably go to another one on the island because I am from there.
  10. punching someone with a physical disability would probably be much frowned upon by your peers lol.
  11. I actually really like Ghetto Astronauts, I would actually rather listen to it than AOB most of the time. I think though that it isn't fair to compare LOTGA to the other three MGB albums. I think Matt was still developing as a song writer and musician when they did LOTGA, and that is quite evident. I still think it was an excellent album, especially considering it was their first major album and how young Matt was at the time. I think because of those factors it isn't fair to compare LOTGA to the other three MGB albums, similar to how it is hard to compare the MGB albums to the solo albums. I think that Alabama Motel Room is comparable to Everything is Automatic, and Symbolistic White Walls is still one of my favourite MGB songs. I think She's Got a New Disguise, Fearless and Haven't Slept in Years are also amazing songs. Sure there are song weaker tracks like Radio Bomb but again I think considering that it is a first album it was very good.
  12. I've never really got into Man of Action that much, Audio of Being is probably my least favourite MGB/MG album as well. I think Truffle Pigs and The Rat Who Would Be King are excellent tracks, but other than that I don't think it is even comparable to Beautiful Midnight or Underdogs. I would have to say Fall of Man is probably the only Matt Good song I don't like at all. Also, the singles on the album, Carmelina and Anti-Pop, really felt like they were just on there for singles. But I know the album and Man of Action are both big fan favourites, just for me personally not so much.
  13. Yeah, I think the person who put up the videos was either the person who wrote the biography or connected to it. He linked to it in the description of the videos. Also strange coincidence that these came down when Matt started ranting about the biography.
  14. These are great to see, there aren't many videos of MGB live on youtube. These are awesome, the energy is great. I would say Matt is definitly a better singer now than he was then. Although there just seems to be another element to MGB live than there is to Matt's performances now. Not saying either is really better. Hmm... seems now that they are all unavailable.
  15. I bought the first side on iTunes when it first came out last month and then picked up the hard copy cds a couple days ago. I think that the recording is pretty good. It might a little bit more polished than I would like, I guess I just wanted more crowd noise and atmosphere on the recordings. Although that could just be because the crowd wasn't very loud that night (I know it wasn't a loud crowd at the show I was at). Also I know Matt said that the crowd mics failed, that was why they had to add his voice from the previous night to the chorus of Automatic, that might have something to do with the lack of crowd noise during the songs. To me the best songs are the Hospital Music songs. I think the best preformances on there are Champions, Single Explosion, Black Helicopter, 99% and She's In It for the Money. It's funny because some of those songs weren't my favourite of the studio recordings but I love these live versions. The older MGB songs on there don't seem to have as much emotion put into them, but I guess that is partly because they are pretty much all standard singles. I think Giant and Apparitions are great though, Weapon and Avalanche are also stellar. Overall I think its a great live album. Although it was be nice if Matt toured not in support of any one album, played some more obscure songs and then made a live album out of that.
  16. yeah, Weapon is amazing. It was the best part of the show I saw and this recording makes me remember why. I remember at one point when the guy was messing around with the guitar sounds, the lights were flashing really fast and I had to look away because it was pretty overwhelming haha.
  17. Matt confirmed in a comment on the sneak preview blog post that this is a universal release, I think a live album was probably part of the contract. The end of Champions sounds excellent, I'm not a big fan of the recorded version but I love how he really gets into it at the end live. I also think Black Helicopter sounds great live, the recorded version isn't my favourite song but I really enjoyed it live and again with this recording. Can't wait for the 12 tracks to go on iTunes next week, I am still somewhat put out by the fact everyone else gets the whole album. I think it will probably just cause a lot of sharing of the last 8 from our american friends anyway, which isn't really the best.
  18. Yeah, I don't really get that, I'm not sure if it means that all 20 tracks will be released worldwide on iTunes (including Canada) on Oct 7. Or, if Canada gets the first 12 and has to wait until November for the other 8. The info on MG.org is not very clear at all and somewhat contridicting. So its saying that the first 12 songs will be released exclusively on iTunes Canada, and the rest will be in November. But then it also says that all 20 songs will be released worldwide. So, then it really isn't exclusive to iTunes Canada at all, and doesn't worldwide include Canada? There is so many things wrong with that paragraph it is just confusing the hell out of me. Also, if they aren't putting the other 8 tracks on iTunes Canada until November, it is just a tactic to make sure we buy the 12 tracks on the 7th and then still buy a hard copy CD in November for the other 8. hmmmmm. As well, if the other 8 tracks are being released everywhere else, that just means that us here in Canada will just get them through non-legit means anyway. I think this may just be a mis-comminication of some sort though.
  19. Champions of Nothing was not a favorite of mine at first. I was very impressed with the live version though, and the album version has grown on me since. I agree that he sung the end of the song a with a lot more emotion and enthusiasm live this tour, which was great. I just think that the album version takes too long to get going, live the long into was good though (espcially for an opener, very dramatic). I think that the album version could maybe be cut down from 9 to around 7 minutes and be improved (only in my opinion).
  20. I've came across that before, its great stuff. Very well done. On youtube though, by the 2nd and 3rd parts the audio gets waaaay out of the sync with the video and it becomes pretty much un-watchable. I may try watching it directly off her website.
  21. oh shit, sorry. The post at the top was big so I didn't bother reading it lol. I didn't realize that the man himself posted on these boards... my apologies. now I look like an idiot lol.
  22. No doubt there is more to the song after the fade... this version is definitly much better as we see there is more dimensions to this song. As for the live cd... as far as I know, we don't know any more about it than we did after the Toronto show. The show was recorded, but no real word on if/how it will be released. Although, I don't read every single blog entry, so maybe I missed something. Oh, and for the people that will end up missing this, again just pm me and I will send you a link to it
  23. possibly because they were taken off due to copyright? Even though youtube is full of copyright infringment sometimes stuff does get taken down at request. If they are just video that you made yourself, then I have no clue.
  24. I also have it... wasn't hard to download as it was just a link (just had to "save target as"). Anyone who missed it just pm me and I will gladly send you a link ;)
  25. I think it sounds good. I really like it once the drums kick in with the piano. I honestly think the vocal sound good, just a different effect on them which is interesting. I just hope as the song goes on there it isn't the same piano and drums the whole time, but I'm sure it changes up as that is only the first 2 minutes. The only other demos I have heard are On Nights Like Tonight and Us Remains Impossible. I kind of forget how they sound now because I only heard them a few times while they were on the site, but I know I really liked them. I am very excited for the new album.
