I think Michael Moore does a good job presenting his side of the argument. I think his intention is not just to make people to believe what he says, but be interested in it enough to go out and learn for themselves. At least I hope that's what people do. And it really bugs me when people say he's films are too one-sided to be a documentary, it's just propoganda. Well what the fuck do think a documentary is? It's a creative outlet to get your point across so of course it can be as one-sided as one wants.

I've been looking forward to this for a bit. I'm going to try to see it in theatres, but it'll more than likely be a rental. Yeah, that is weird that he draws such a rowdy crowd. I've been to a few shows at the Commodore and people are crazy. I guess it's because he's a rock act, but most fans seem more intelligent than that. I think alcohol must be a major factor. I love going to see shows, but people can really ruin it. I can't believe how violent some people get, just in general. It makes me mad. Fucking people.

Matt, I'm having trouble with your logic here with regards to homeless people. You say lower taxes, which no doubt will lower money to social programs. Then you say help homeless people by getting them jobs. It hard for someone who has nothing to make a resume and recieve phone calls and show up at job interviews looking respectable. Some sort of social program would be necessary for this. And many homeless people don't have the necessary training to work at many jobs. To get it, they need education, which costs money of course. And you don't want to help them get that second chance for free. It's a really complicated problem. You seem to offer a lot of ideas for what needs to be changed, but you're not really offering coherent solutions. What you keep suggesting is stuff that's either happening or has been done in some form. Yet the problems are still here. I think Bizud has some interesting ideas that should be thouroughly considered.

I think the reason's pretty clear. He doesn't want people supporting the violent behaviour at ACF having a voice on his Blog. I'm sure he respects that they have an opinion, stupid as it may be, but he probably doesn't even want to entertain thoughts like that.

This is why I stay away from UBC. Not to say that everyone at UBC is bad, but I've been to parties there and it's such a get as drunk as possible mentality. I've never understood that. I've partied, I've been drunk, but I've never been destructive or abusive. I just don't get it.

The album's not exactly an easy listen at first but I think it's pretty great. They played a newer song that they're planning for the next album (already) and it was really good. If it's more of the direction they're going to take then it should be an even better album. And yes, I miss the Pumpkins too ;)

Matthew Good had nothing to do with my first time, not that it's any of your fucking business. But if you want my story of the first time I heard Matthew Good, it's probably in the thread like this from last week, and the one from two weeks ago.

My favorite thing is when religious people are afraid that if children are around gay people, then they will "turn" gay. Firstly, there's really no proof that it works that way. And Secondly, if the child is around gay people, the freaky religious person is probably the only one worried about the possibility of the child being gay. It's so silly and narrow-minded.

I think we're pretty much in agreement with you Dan that it's just a stereotype that some people use. You seem to be trying to make an argument out of nothing for some wierd reason. However, you can link to Wikipedia all you want and get as technical as you want, but in normal speech when people refer to "how gay people sound", as you so delicately put it, people call it a lisp. That's why we're calling it a lisp, be it right or not, it's just what people say.

exactly, it is not a speech impediment typical of gay people... since it is a speech disorder, it may affect anybody... sorry but still "confused" of what all this with lisping have to do with gay people... It's just another stereotype. And Dan, not sure who you're directing your comments at either because no one said every gay person has a speech impediment. In fact, if you read the posts I think you'll find quite the opposite. It was used as an example, but people seem to have run with it and freaked out over something that no one here said. It's just a stereotype, I don't think you can argue that. And it was just used as an example. Take a deep breath...

It's Jimmy Chamberlin's (ex-Smashing Pumpkins drummer) "solo" project. They're actualyl quite good. I went to the show tonight at Richard's in Vancouver and they played a pretty impressive set. My friend got one of Jimmy's drumsticks and we got to meet him after the show. We mostly went because we're huge Pumpkins fans but they played a really great show. Has anyone else heard his stuff? Whadaya think?

people 'use' lisps? Sure. Or exagerate a lisp, is that a better word for you? Every person who speaks with a lisp doesn't necessarily have a speech problem, it can be part of the lifestyle. But thanks for clearing up the least important part of my post. I'm pretty sure that confused everyone. ;)

If someone really wanted to kill us all, they don't have to wait until 2040 to use nanotechnology. Get real. Just create some more high profile celebrity couples and have them all break up at the same time. I almost died when Bennifer and Tom and Nicole broke up. If that happened at the same time, I'd be posting here no more.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with defense or insecurity. It's just a way of getting attention. And a way of getting recognizable attention. That's it. As far as being gay and not flamboyant, I think most gay men are exactly that way. I work in the film industry so I'm constantly around gay men and women and I really don't see the stereotypes in the work place. If your only exposure to gay people are at bars or events like the Pride Parade, then sure, everyone looks like a big huge flamer. But as far as seeing gay people in a normal, everyday setting, I would usually never know. And as far as the Spartans, I'm pretty sure they didn't use lisps and shit like that. I think that part of the culture is more recent. I'm not sure of it's origins, but I'm thinking it's within the last 100 years or less. But if anyone actually knows, please jump in.

see, this is what i don't get. if you're a man, and you like another man, why does one take on a more feminine role??? sure, it doesn't always happen, but when i've seen it, one is clearly more female than the other. is that being gay or is that people identifying with more than just the exterior?? in my life i've met a few gay men and other than the fact that they listenned to a lot of kylie minogue, they weren't flamboyant. where does the flamboyancy come from??? I think for a lot of people it's part of the lifestyle. When people started coming out to the masses, the flamboyant attitude was what got the most attention. So people that like attention and wanted to be out adopted that attitude. And now it's become part of the lifestyle for many people. It's the same for any group. Rappers for example. Not all rappers where baggy pants, big jackets and "bling", but it's the part of the lifestyle that gets noticed if you want that kind of attention.

I think it's fantastic that there's more and more acceptance for gay people. I think they should be entitled to all the same rights as straight people, including marriage. And to those people who say that they have trouble taking gay rights seriously because of Gay Pride parade because they should just "act normal", well that's just one parade, it's not everyday. That's like saying Americans aren't normal because of Mardi Gras. Gay Pride is sooooo important to just get it out in the open and make it fun so it's not this taboo subject. The Gay Pride parade is one of the most fun parades I've ever seen. And to those people who say "It pisses me off when a gay guy hits on me." Lighten up. I'm sure you've hit on a girl when she didn't want you to. I've been hit on before and it's just not a big deal. Take it as a compliment because gay guys usually have pretty good taste. So yeah, gay is good.
