  1. Cool thread. I believe these are all mine but I could be forgetting something. I had never heard of Talk Talk until Matt mentioned how much an impact they had on him, and I started to appreciate them as I listened more and more and now own these albums thanks to Matt. Did you like those Ryan Dahle songs Tips? If so, you should definitely buy the whole Irrational Anthems CD as the whole album is excellent. Lots of melody and interesting instrumentation and songwriting. It's one of the most unique albums I've ever heard. Anyway, here is my Matt Good inspired collection: Talk Talk - The Colour of Spring Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (my favourite) Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
  2. It wasn't exactly the same tune though was it? Was it a combination of that and their own thing?
  3. Hahaha. Matt and Ryan should write and record an entire humorous album together. I think this performance of Giant is one of the most accurate live versions I've heard of the song for the most part.
  4. I really enjoyed that performance of Giant. The audio quality is very clear for a non-studio recording and musically it's one of the very best live performances I've heard of the song. I'm liking Jimmy more and more. Matt was solid too.
  5. I think it's just a random thing they added. They played something very similar in the middle of Load Me Up on the last tour already. I think it really enhances the song. They played it for longer on some of last tour's performances I've heard though, but they added some different touches to this one.
  6. All we need is Arrows of Desire yet and then we got the whole new album live. That and a performance of Born to Kill and Live Road will officially be perfect.
  7. Yes, go Live Road Born to Kill! This is the most exciting song he could play live for me. Please play it and Live Road it!
  8. Favourite lyrics that come to mind from AOD: "Ain't got nothing in the world these days Just the world don't know it's true" - So Close "If you ain't on your back taking it get out of here" - So Close "Over the fire a time to bear what those below await" (this line is haunting) - Arrows of Desire "Well you work a job, you hate your job You go home and you wonder "What am I going to do about my job? It pays the bills, the bills add up" - Had It Coming "There's a spider in the kitchen sink Turn the tap on, stand there, watch it panic" - Via Dolorosa "No matter where the sun strikes us Knives will grow" - Garden of Knives
  9. I would be happy with another rocker of an album too. I like your acoustic/rock double album idea Cartmanx.
  10. Wow, Born to Kill live would be amazing. I never thought it would ever be played again so that would be an awesome treat. I completely understand about all the tour stuff. Thank you so much Matthew for allowing us to download live songs for free and doing this whole thing.
  11. Haha, that would be different. I actually enjoy Hopeless and some Country I don't mind. I hate most mainstream Country of the last couple decades or more. I don't know if I would want a whole MG Country album, but maybe a few songs ala Hopeless would be fun. I think the fact that MG is singing makes it much more enjoyable to me.
  12. What is Acid Rock?
  13. I know it's early but I thought of something that would be cool to hear for the next album. I would like to hear Matt go back to his roots as a folk musician again. A new folk album by Matthew Good would be something different and could be very interesting I think. Listening to 15 Hours demo recently I am reminded how playful and interesting it is instrumentally. The bass is awesome on it plus all the piano and style of it. Big props to Ariel Watson who did the bass I believe. That demo contains the most interesting bass playing of Matt's career in my opinion. I don't recall seeing him get much credit on here. So, what's your ideas?
  14. Man, I am really impressed by the live road performance of Weapon. It's definitely one of the very best vocal performances I've heard of the song live. It sounds like it came right off the CD.
  15. I'm thinking my top 3 currently looks like this (with switch-a-rounds very possible): Mutineering Via Dolorosa Garden of Knives
  16. Awesome performance of Via Dolorosa. Sped up and pretty high energy, plus extended rocking. Mutineering was great too with an excellent vocal display.
  17. Whatever 'Revenge' is. Never heard of it before.
  18. Yeah, Mutineering is one I was waiting for. It's really becoming one of the top tracks from AoD for me. I hope he puts up a performance of Via Dolorosa as well.
  19. Yes, me too. Via Dolorosa would be nice.
  20. I just want to say again, thanks to MG and co. for doing this Live Road thing. I am enjoying it more and more. Guns of Carolina and Weapon have been posted now. Weapon is a really enjoyable live song in these last couple tours for me. Matthew's vocal performance here is fantastic, sounds as good as on CD in parts and maybe better in some ways. Guns of Carolina live sounds great as well. I like the different keyboard/organ sound live. After he's done with Live Road we should have a sweet live compilation. It's like a second not-so-official live album. Cool.
  21. The Boy Who Could Explode would be awesome. That's one of my favourite MG songs.
  22. I really enjoyed that performance of We're Long Gone. I think more than the album version.
  23. Yes, I was thinking of LotGA as well. And perhaps 15 Hours on a September Thursday. There's also a keyboard/organ sound that reminds me of old MGB.
  24. I like Blake's additions, it goes pretty well with Matthew's voice. I really like this performance of Alert Status Red. The bass sounds a lot different from the CD version and I think it sounds really cool. Who's with me? Oh and Garden of Knives live rocks. That intro is that much more epic than on CD even. P.S. I live your cover LostAndFoundAndLostAgain. Thank you.
  25. Lol I didn't even think about a download option or know that Soundcloud had that. Cool.
