  1. I don't get this at all. Especially after his last album was Arrows of Desire which was full of radio friendly, interesting tunes and melody. And the new single is very radio friendly. I don't find it to be a standout of his at all but it is a good choice for radio I think.
  2. I can see that. But why would Bones have a random picture of his son with his name and album title on it?
  3. Yeah, that's cool and quite unexpected. But you didn't know Ryan was part of AOE? For shame. :P I think he was the main songwriter of the band, but I might be wrong.
  4. I think that probably is the album cover and I hope it is. That is MG's son right?
  5. This is a solid song and I am liking it more.
  6. I kind of thought it might be All You Sons and Daughters. It was never a song I was particularly excited about, always thought it needed a bridge or something, but it has a catchiness to it. Sounds exactly like the demo version polished up a bit. I'm hoping for some good surprises from other demos to studio translations. It sounded like this album will have more differences between the versions. I wish he had kept the bells in this as well. I like the title Chaotic Neutral. Out September 25.
  7. I could see it being Kid Down The Well, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Moment.
  8. Where are you getting this information?
  9. I would like to see that Had It Coming video again. Does anyone have it? I was very surprised to see how many views that got for MG in 2013 with a very simplistic video. I liked the video but neither the video nor the song is something remarkable in MG's catalogue. I saw it get to around 280,000 seemingly out of nowhere which I always thought was fishy and then it slowly climbed after that. The highest I ever recall seeing it was at around 294,00 views but you're saying it got all the way up to 500,000?
  10. I'm thinking somewhere between September and November. I certainly hope it's at least released this year.
  11. Those little snippets of Los Alamos and Cold Water are getting me excited.
  12. Not gonna lie, losing Night Orders is quite the blow. I loved that you belted it out a little more in that song, something you hardly do anymore. I'm also sort of disappointed about the other song, but at least Los Alamos and Cold Water are (hopefully) staying. Thankfully we have the demos so thank you MG and I'm looking forward to hearing what you're talking about.
  13. Yeah, the style of production was something else with Irrational Anthems coming off of I/O but after a few listens I really liked it and thought the recording was well done. The different instruments had nice sound and tone and it had its own kind of dynamics. I think my problem with Pacific Milk is mostly or even entirely production related. There's some good energy, songwriting and plenty of hooks, but it lacks edge and punch and dynamics. It's unfortunate because I think it's a very good album but this takes so much away from it. I am finding different hooks and songs I'm enjoying more and more, and I keep going back to it because I'm legitimately interested, so that's good I think. Hopefully we'll come to overlook or appreciate the production and I'm glad Ryan is still making records and really hope he continues to do so. Maybe his renewed interest in Limblifter/writing music and playing live will bring faster album releases. Just please don't abandon Limblifter/solo for Mounties because the former are much better. Songs that standout most to me are (not necessarily in order): Cast A Net, Key of Karavana, Hotel Knife, Suspended, Been There Done That, Position Open and Palomino. I'm liking Juliet Club more than I did at first.
  14. So, what are your guys' thoughts on Pacific Milk? I don't know who all pre-ordered or how early you might have gotten it but I got it the other day, almost 2 weeks early. I gotta say, after a few listens, I am quite underwhelmed and disappointed. This is the first Limblifter/Ryan Dahle album that I haven't taken to immediately or almost immediately and I don't know if it's more the songs or the production. Let me clarify, I am not knocking Ryan's talents and abilities with production in any way, he has proven he's extremely talented with this. I/O and Irrational Anthems had excellent production. I think Ryan very well may have botched or severely marred the production of Pacific Milk (to me anyway). It is FAR too much the same sonically and is VERY lacking in dynamics and the bass is going to waste being buried in the mix for the most part. There are parts that could have much better grooves and rhythms. A Limblifter album needs to have more dynamics. IA was unique in this regard too, but it still clearly had more dynamic and fit those songs better as that album was a lot more mellow. I think the songs of the solo album were also stronger and more interesting. I think the live versions of The Fauves and possibly Juliet Club were better, which is very unexpected. The Fauves really lacks punch on the album. This album still has quite a bit of catchiness and potential and I hope it will grow on me but it hasn't at all in 3 or 4 listens. I really don't know if I can get past the production. It also makes this album tiring on the ears. :(
  15. Looks like typical MG font style of the last few records so it's very possible. I'm not a big fan of No Liars. It has a sort of catchiness and the middle of it has a part I like but there's something I don't like about it. And I think the first Kid Down The Well is better.
  16. Matt Good (I believe) has an alternate FB page and on it is this picture so maybe that is the title?
  17. Cool. Apparently the CD pre-orders start shipping later this week and the album isn't officially released for another 3 weeks. The label is only about a couple hours away so I could have this puppy much earlier than expected.
  18. Sooo, I wonder if he is still starting recording this month, and when? I'm really liking Matthew's singing in Kid Down The Well. it's reminding me of Avalanche or older singing in a way. The "and the kid down the well, that's me" part is excellent. The song in general kind of reminds me of a MG classic like Apparitions or something. I hear a little Life In Spite Of Itself too. I think I'm hearing another must have choice to make the album. So far I've got: Los Alamos Cold Water Night Orders We Have Done This Before, We Will Do It Again Tiger By The Tail Kid Down The Well Harridan is on the lesser end but still the best out of the few songs I left out. I don't care that much if Moment, Girls In Black and All You Sons and Daughters don't make it. I wonder if Hornets is still in question?
  19. That part at around 2:45 is cool. Sounds a bit different for MG. Groovy.
  20. Girls In Black kind of reminds me of The Lone Gunman and the end with the talking is like Had It Coming. He should do something with The Lone Gunman.
  21. It sounds pretty good. Definitely more upbeat than almost all the demos. I like some of the other demos better though.
  22. The slower songs are the bulk of most Matt Good albums so I don't really understand that suddenly being a negative for this album. There is more upbeat on most of his albums than these demos so far, but he's almost always leaned more to the slower side.
  23. I find that surprising since much of these demos capture a lot of classic MG. Night Orders, Los Alamos, Cold Water, We Have Done This Before We Will Do It Again and Harridan in particular. Matthew Good has largely been very mood based in his music. If anything, I think these demos are much more a return to form after Arrows of Desire.
  24. More demo re-posts. I've got something to add about Cold Water. I love the whole song but I especially love the "oh how I wish I was with you and nowhere else" part. And I really enjoy the way the music moves in the last minute-ish of the song that's instrumental. The bass is nice. Matthew said it's easily his favourite of all the demos - or songs of the last decade.
  25. Yes, THE MAN, Ryan Dahle. They should have expanded on those joke songs they did and made a whole album. Seriously Serious is a very interesting track musically. Or work together more in general. Christian Thor Valdsen stands out to me if I had to pick one. I quite like Milos bass playing too. Edit: You work with Dave Genn MAN?
