  1. After 1 listen to the new EP I think I Miss New Wave is my favourite. I dunno why, but the subtle musicalities and Matt's vocal rendition were very enjoyable. I think Load Me Up is my second favourite, it's so different but really nice and spaced out. I quite like some of the music on Born to Kill but either the production or Matt's vocals in spots sound kind of off or weak to me. A bit buried in the mix maybe? The original is just so dramatic and moody it's just kind of weird hearing it like this so I'm not sure if I like it yet. I'm also not sure of Suburbia. The beat is kind of neat and catchy on its own, but I don't know if I like it in this song. Let's Get It On is pretty interesting, some solid vocals and a very different vibe, I quite like this one. Overall, these renditions give a new dynamic to the songs and after 1 listen I am definitely interested in hearing them again so that's good.
  2. Ok, I'm just gonna say it: Cold Water and Los Alamos are MG's modern day I Miss New Wave and Suburbia.
  3. Isn't there another pro shot MG video?
  4. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/11/23/matthew-good-donald-trumps-wall-plan-moronic Interesting article. This particularly piques my curiosity regarding the new effort which I assume means the new studio LP but I'm not certain: "It has a very original new wave bent to it," Good says. "And when I say that I'm talking about actual new wave – bands like Television, the Police… that kind of thing. Not mid-late '80s synth new wave." 'Very original new wave bent'. I wonder what that could sound like.
  5. I thought it might be nice to have a thread where you post any old MG related thought or opinion that comes to mind. Is this a good idea? I was just thinking how much I like Truffle Pigs. Matt sings some unique notes there that I haven't really heard from him elsewhere that I can recall. It makes me nostalgic for that old voice and style.
  6. What a nice tribute to MG.
  7. It would be awesome if we could get a DVD or bluray of a show from this tour. This would especially be a perfect time for it.
  8. I hope he's not going to play the new versions live in place of the original.
  9. Ohhh, just from hearing a few seconds of the preview of Load Me Up, I'm really liking it. A much different style. I'm going to try and wait to hear the rest though.
  10. I kind of like it after giving it some thought. Like emmit said, it sounds brighter and hopeful which is kind of nice. You can't help but compare it to the original though, and the original is definitely more poignant in my opinion.
  11. Yeah I was just wondering the same thing.
  12. In some moods I can get into No Liars pretty good, and it's a decent song, but it's definitely probably my least favourite overall.
  13. Got it to work now, thanks.
  14. How would you get the password for the other sales?
  15. Does anyone know why the midnight password isn't working for me today? It worked fine yesterday.
  16. Los Alamos Cold Water Kid Down The Well Harridan Cloudbusting (I'm really liking the interplay of Matt and Holly in this one) The first 2 both fight for top spot.
  17. That's great, although I don't know if I like the idea of standing the whole show. I'm glad he switched to this venue if it has better sounds.
  18. Cool, that works out good then. Thanks for your help. My ticket shows a specific seat after I bought it, does that matter?
  19. So I bought a ticket to general admission and then found out after that my brother will go. Obviously we'd want to sit beside each other preferably. Does anyone know if/how this arrangement could be made?
  20. Well looks like I got row 5 section 0 for the London show. I don't know what section 0 is, hopefully it's decent. Yippee! This will be my first time seeing Matthew Good live, or anyone really for that matter. I figured this was the time if I'm ever going to see him play.
  21. Does anyone know why you can't pick your seats?
  22. It's kind of nice to hear a different take. It's pretty good, but at the 'real intent' part I can't help but sort of miss Matt's old range/voice. It's definitely more laid-back in this version.
  23. Cold Water and Los Alamos are among some of the best songs of Matt's career I think. He hasn't written songs quite like this in a long while. They partially bring me back to what really drew me to MG's music in the first place. Haunting sounds like Suburbia, I Miss New Wave, Born to Kill, etc. Cold Water has a quality to it unlike anything else he has written. I just love the antiquated lyrics and vibe of it, it's fascinating and powerful in a way. Los Alamos is very haunting and atmospheric with some lyrics that get at you. Mysterious gems.
  24. Is anyone a fan of this great duo? It's a shame they broke up but John Paul White just released his first album since their last album and there's quite a bit of CW sound going on, but some different sounds. It's a very well put together album with interesting, well written songs.
  25. That would be great and those others left off would be great too.
