  1. Helping to topple Qaddafi obviously.
  2. PetSmart has actually said they will work around my Telus schedule and let me stay on for like 10 hours a week. This is excellent, because I get a discount.
  3. Been working. I finally found a new job and am quitting PetSmart to move back to Telus, so that is kind of exciting. I am also moving next week, so I've been doing a lot of packing and that sort of thing as well. Which is kind of difficult because Shay works graveyards, so I have to do some packing late at night while our roommate sleeps. Ah well.
  4. I really enjoyed Alan Wake. Personally, I have found it among the creepiest games I have ever played, right up there with Silent Hill 3 and System Shock 2. Great atmosphere, and my god the lighting effects are incredible. Mostly just playing WoW and NHL 11 before we move.
  5. Explosions in the Sky is playing a show in Idaho on September 11. People are upset about this for some reason. When it comes down to it, we're never going to know all of what happened that day or all of what occurred prior to those events to allow them to happen.
  6. Finally got around to watching Four Brothers. I really enjoyed it, but am still shocked at the number of black people in that movie who appear to like hockey.
  7. For my money, Polaroids of Polar Bears was the best song they ever laid down, and I'm glad I got to see them live while they still played that song.
  8. I've been to GA shows and have been crushed up against the barricade (in fact, I caught a drum at a Trail of Dead show that was kicked in the direction of my face), so you can get pretty damn close if you're there early enough. From what I understand about the VIP packages, the VIP packs for the general admission shows gets you front of the line access to the venue- after that, you're on your own.
  9. Apparently my cat likes that song. I only really liked their first album, and some songs from their later releases. Just didn't grab me the same way the first disc did. Oh well.
  10. The only place I can really see the edits coming are the break between the first chorus and 2nd verse, shortening the "solo" before the 2nd chorus, and then fading out a little bit earlier than on the album.
  11. Meegee is just an all around fantastic musician: electric and double bass, clarinet, cello... some other stuff I'm probably missing. She can totally play circles around me, that's for sure.
  12. If you're able to buy tickets for a show directly from the venue (like the Vogue Theater in Vancouver) as opposed to through a third party like ticketmaster(of raping your credit card), that helps to save a bit of money on service charges.
  13. Seeing as it says right on the VIP ticket pages that the tickets, merch and meet and greet instructions will be mailed out 4 weeks before the show, I would think it is safe to say that no one has gotten theirs yet ;) That being said, I imagine if you buy more than one VIP package in the same order, they will put the seats beside each other.
  14. I hope people don't get too hopeful about a lot of back catalog stuff being played now that Ian is back in the live picture. I imagine that some favorites (Suburbia immediately springs to mind) may be added to the setlist rotation, but I am a little fearful of a people being all pissy that Beautiful Midnight doesn't make up half of each show.
  15. Finished my Mass Effect 2 Insanity run. Have all the achievement points in that game. Also have a level 50 character in WoW. Awww yeah.
  16. It doesn't matter where you sit at the Jack Singer, there is no bad seat in the house at all. Curtster, I'm kind of in the same boat. I am pretty sure that me/my fiancee/our roommate will be moving out of this apartment before the VIP packages are sent out, so we're getting it shipped to my dad in Calgary. Conveniently, we will be there at the end of November for his wedding to pick it all up. Also, I don't think Matt has ever done a meet and greet in this fashion before, so who knows what it'll be like. I imagine a bit like waiting outside the bus- take a picture, get an autograph, but indoors and warmer.
  17. You'll have to go through scalpers. According to the VIP tickets page, the first 10 rows of the orchestra section at the Jack will be reserved for VIP ticket purchasers.
  18. Shay just bought us VIP tickets for the December 2 show in Vancouver. It is going to be weird as fuck not seeing him play in Calgary.
  19. I just tweeted him to ask what exactly he did. Personally, I think it's just delay (I set my pedal to about 135ms when I play it) and steady eight notes, with the delay making it sound like tremolo picking. And it is really freaking hard forme to keep that rhythm steady without the drums. So Ian is returning- half of what I said would be awesome came true!
  20. You can always just move the LoES into the solo folder with the rest of the solo stuff. I would also maybe go into itunes, highlight all the songs from LoES, right click>get info and then manually enter artist/album info to keep it consistent with how the rest of it is organized. I'm also really anal about stuff like this on my own computer. Personally, I think this album is the best of his solo career. I think Matt really pushed himself creatively, and to be able to write and record an album without worrying about what the label is going to think allowed Matt to break free of the mold he'd been poured into. Don't get me wrong, it's still distinctly Matt Good, but to me it feels like a natural progression of his sound based on what he's done in the past and where he finds himself in his life now. I absolutely love Mildred. After I heard the demo, it took a while to grow on me, but now I just can't get enough of it. How it Goes, Set Me on Fire and Endangered Species round out my favorite tracks, but it's a really solid album, and one of the best sounding albums I've ever heard. Warne Livesey managed to capture some incredible sounds on this album, like in the title track, right after he sings "set something, anything, on fire" there are three piano notes that you can hear just warbling in the air as they ring out. Gives me chills every time. Also, I appear to be the only person I know who doesn't think Avalanche is a masterpiece of an album.
  21. The only real difference between the album bass and Milos' live bass on Great Whales is the delay pedal on the album- other than that, it's just steady 8th notes the whole time.
  22. Milos definitely has the chops. Just listen to the Massey Hall versions of Weapon and 99% Of Us is Failure (with bass boost on so you can actually hear the bass guitar)- he just kills it.
  23. I also recall Matt saying he wanted to do Near Fantastica, but couldn't find the loop that he needed, which sucks, but it is what it is I guess. Wouldn't it be something if Christian and Ian came back into the fold? That would be pretty awesome, and incredibly unlikely.
  24. Or if you have the 2 parts, you could upload them somewhere for all >.>
