  1. Jack Layton looks like Lenin.
  2. Yeah, softwood lumber is a crock. The US can pull out after two years? WTF? BTW, what's his position on Iraq now? I heard a bit back that he backed off from it after it came out (in the mainstream media) that there weren't any WMDs and most of the rationales were a crock of shit. Edit: here it is. http://www.cbc.ca/canadavotes/realitycheck/iraq.html A statement like that does seem like he's trying to obscure the fact that he supported it, wanted Canada to become a coalition member, and even wrote a letter to the Wall Street Journal condemning Canada's decision to stay out.
  3. hahaha well put, and yes the problem would be the needed constant flow of decent arms. But yah haha M16 would beat some crappy Canadian Tire rifle lol, but i still don't think id want to take orders from some sawed off prick of a drill sergeant! Lol Haha, nah, neither would I, but sometimes sacrifices are to be made. There've been a few cases where Harper has told the Americans to fuck off, like in the Canadian sovreignty issue up north.
  4. Oh yeah, I'm well aware of how the Vietcong and the Cuban rebels, for example, operated and came into existence and emerged successfully. Schools aren't teaching proper history my ass  ! Well, the problem isn't so much getting your hands initially on the weapons, it would be in keeping yourself well supplied with weapons and ammo. Buying out a CT for yourself would work, but I'd bet it would be a drain on financial resources. Also, if the Americans are smart, they'd have some sort of control on the sale of weapons through those kinds of stores. I'm curious as to how many bullets and grenades etc. Iraqi insurgents go through in their battles with US troops and each other. What I think would be the best bet to forming a well-armed milita would be to join the army for the initial war, then if the US wins they'd probably dismantle the army like they did in Iraq. Thus far I doubt that the powers that be will learn anything from history. Once they do that, it would probably be easier to just steal what you need on your way out. Honestly, would you rather have a hunting rifle from Canadian Tire, or an M-16 and a few bullet-proof vests ;) ?

  6. 9/10 because Oprah annoys me.
  7. I haven't heard all that many live albums, but The Who Live at Leeds is pretty cool.
  8. Ever see that South Park episode where the hippies have their music festival and the only way to get them to leave is by blaring Slayer from the speakers? That was awesome. But back on topic, all these people who are saying that they'd join or start militias are a bit misguided. Where would they get their weapons, their training, and their support? Foreign backers? Hezbollah has Iran, the IRA had several supporters in the US, FLQ got training in Cuba, and a lot of those terror groups in Europe in the 70s were connected to communist-bloc regimes. As well, AK-47s aren't really as readily available here as they are in, say, Afghanistan or Iraq. The best bet for weapons would be the army. Black market would probably be too expensive and too much of a chance of getting ripped off or caught in a sting.
  9. I've heard a few songs here and there, plus the Burst and Bloom EP, which is fucking awesome. It's been a while since I listened, so I'll have to get around to them again.
  10. I hate music, so I guess I don't have to worry about anything here.
  11. That's really cool, what's it called?
  12. From the same site mikeymackinon linked to.
  13. So what? They're hippies. What'll they do? Not bathe on me? I crack me up.
  14. That was a point you made, and I agree with it to a certain extent. The bands you mentioned (Sum 41 and Billy Talent) both didn't make it big with songs that had real deep lyrical content. Only once they established themselves with songs about pretty much little more than teen angst and relationships did their more thoughtful music get released as singles. The truth is, is that today there aren't many new musicians with something to say who are popular. Your other point (and the one I'm really taking exception to) was that if a musician could write hits, then they would. This is just ignorant. What makes a hit? Think of Paranoid Android, Stairway to Heaven, November Rain. They were all hits and all well over the 6 minute mark, more than twice the length of the average single. Do you mean accessibility? Again, Paranoid Android comes to mind, as does Weapon and the entire Avalanche record. It is far less accessible than WLR&RR, yet was far more popular. Why was that? Declining interest in his music? Probably. Why did interest in his music decline? That horse has been beaten to death over and over here so I won't get into it, but it's certainly not because, as you imply, his songs aren't catchy enough to be hits. WLR&RR is chock full o' hooks, as are several other albums that don't get mainstream exposure. As you rightly pointed out, it's hit and miss most of the time, which directly contradicts your statement that if MG could write a hit, he would.
  15. Yes, most of us have heard it already. It's in the store already, and there was a great debate over who had the better version - NIN (who did it first), Johnny Cash, or Matt. The woman is Melissa McLelland. ;)
  16. Whatever. The difference between opinion and fact is being blurred. I'm sure there's a ton of people who could say that Limblifter is bland or Johnny Cash is bland and there'd be an equal amount of people to disagree (I'd be one of them).
  17. Country, although simply for Johnny Cash. Both genres (in my opinion), like any genre, have brilliance and both have crap. It's a matter of looking hard enough if you're so inclined.
  18. 10/10, it's relaxing, and I'm off to bed.
  19. I still watch them, mostly for nostalgia, although the new episodes I've seen are pretty good. I'm not ashamed.
  20. ROCK AND ROOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! Sorry, I just can't contain myself. Ann Coulter once again gets her ass handed to her on a silver platter. Better yet, on Fox News! Hannity and Colmes is supposed to be a 'debate' show, but Alan Colmes (the liberal viewpoint) is pretty much just toothless and lets Hannity walk all over him. For this show, Colmes had a fill-in who obviously wasn't into taking any bullshit. "I know you're trying to be like Alan Colmes, but he at least lets me finish what I have to say," unlike Hannity and the Democrat he was interviewing. Fuck! Ann fucking left the studio! Sorry Ann, but you shouldn't act like a bitch if you can't take the heat. Watch the video, this is quite possibly the best thing I've seen all summer (no, I haven't seen Snakes on a Plane yet). Why the long face? Also, Children's Zoo Horsey Wants Liberal Media Traitors Executed by Firing Squad?
  21. They can do chores, though. I'm pretty sure child labour laws don't apply if they're your own kids.
  22. Realistically, I'd probably be one of those stone-throwing kids who gets owned by a tank. Seriously though, this is my home, I'm proud to live in such a great country, and I'll be damned if anyone imposed their imperial will over me. I'd fucking fight, but probably with the army. They've got the guns, after all.
