  1. You work at Sobey's too? I'm in the front end, so it's not too boring, and this week is Dollar Days, so there's always lots to do. Saturday nights are a bitch, though. Dead as the grave.
  2. Harlot. >.> She does make a convincing argument. Seriously, though, St. FX looks like the most likely place so far.
  3. It's how he destroyed the Hindenburg.
  4. Pretty much anything off of Live at Folsom Prison cuts it for me. Radiohead also has a pretty good set at Glastonbury 2003, if you can find any of those recordings (or watch the videos on YouTube).
  5. Super Mario Physics

  7. That's basically how I use it.
  8. Try Telling That To My Baby - The Heavy Blinkers
  9. 10/10 Derek like.
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bacon...sambiguation%29 I like C.M. Coolidge.
  11. ;) 50 points for Tim! Let's just say that my "energy" is "spiriting" me away.
  12. Western sounds like a good place, but I was looking through their site and it didn't look like they did many jazz studies, other than having a jazz ensemble. UVic looks pretty good. I love Victoria, and Hugh Fraser directs their jazz ensemble. It's one I'll definitly keep in mind. Thanks for the help, guys.
  13. The first time I saw this thread, I was like "whoa, porn!" Needless to say, there were no "xxx" posts.
  14. 8/10 It's h-core.
  15. Okay, so I'm looking to go into music next year, and complete a mixed Bachelor of Music/Education program so I can teach. University of Manitoba allows me to do this, and they have a pretty solid music program here. However, I don't really want to stay in Manitoba (and I don't think anyone can blame me for that). It's fairly likely that finances will keep me here, but I'm also seriously considering St. Francis Xavier (since their program focuses on jazz and they have a shortage of trumpet players). I'd like to keep my options open, though, and I don't know yet if St. FX offers that option. What's it like at your universities?
  16. I miss the great teachers I had in high school and playing in the bands there.
  17. I want an organ on the next album. The organ on LOTGA was killer.
  18. The only title I know is The Way We Get By. I listened to a whole bunch of their stuff a few months ago, and I really dug it.
  19. Probably Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead, if I was going to do something stupid like kill myself. If the Ruskies launched a nuke, I'd probably crank my Led Zeppelin I on vinyl and get tanked.
  20. Haha no kidding. One of my friends who got direct entry into engineering at U of M was telling me that out of ~150 direct entry students, maybe 5 were girls, and only one was "okay." I'm currently doing humanities courses, although it really is just mindless filler because I'm trying to get into music and become a teacher. I did the IB program at my school (for those of you who don't know, IB is pretty much an advanced academic program and you get university credits for a lot of stuff, and most of the different subject curriculums are at least university level). I got 90 in calculus, 85 in chemistry and 83 in higher level physics (no small feat, I can assure you with no exaggeration whatsoever). But, I got a 95 in higher level history, and my two history courses at U of M both basically re-hash everything I learnt from grades 11 and 12. This is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but if you're like me and want to teach (and there's going to be a huge demand for teachers in the next 10 years because many are starting to reach retirement) music, then do you do engineering, or just stuff you can fall back on (either way, I'm going to teach)? True, that's a pretty half-assed excuse, but I think that after busting my ass and fucking up my health and personal life, I've earned it ;) .
  21. As a band geek, I have to say that I'm quite impressed with the love for jazz on here. I'll to what's been put on here with Charles Mingus, especially anything from the album Mingus Ah Um. That's some wicked awesome music. Some good classical: Holst - The Planets Joaquin - Concierto d'Aranjuez (can be found on Sketches of Spain by Miles Davis. Amazing, beautiful record.) Respighi - The Pines of Rome Mvt. 4: Pines of the Appian Way Macbeth - Kaddish Pretty much anything by Alfred Reed Eric Whitacre - October Elgar - Enigma Variations
  22. I'm not sure if this fits together, but the police managed to get him in 4 minutes, and the news went on about how they learned the lessons of Columbine and all that, so maybe that's not so much ssecurity as operating more efficiently.
  23. You know you're an idiot when...... Jerry Falwell calls you a certified nutbag.
  24. I was thinking about the Meat Puppets, actually, but I think the Pixies were probably better to use because Cobain wanted 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' to sound like a Pixies song (and that was the song that really broke it into the mainstream).
