  1. well starting born losers. Oh boy, the first four tracks are incredible...way better than born losers--and I think born losers is great. and I didn't even have high expectations for this album!
  2. Man, I think this is going to be better than Avalanche.
  3. For sure. And this is what I've been asking for. On Metal Airplanes so far, great of course.
  4. Fucking demolishes Put Out Your Lights and even Pledge Of Allegiance for opening tracks, Champions of Nothing.
  5. JUST started Champions Of Nothing. Will keep this thread updated!
  6. well just when I clicked onto this thread, I was wearing my sony headphones. You can clearly hear Matt Good say it when it's cranked...and it's definitely his voice. I do, however think that it was unintentional and a mistake made in post.
  7. Couple of thoughts for this thread. Leitmotif >>>> Catch Without Arms HOWEVER over the years, I've come to enjoy El Cielo the most which is very shocking. New Tomahawk is a disappointment. They were the closest thing Mike Patton had going that was more in the modern rock direction and now it just feels like a Fantomas record with Aboriginal influences.
  8. Sure they are. Slipknot really watered down over the years. Therefore, two generic rock acts.
  9. They're a good band...just not very exciting.
  10. I'm not listening to anything but I just want to get my post count up.
  11. Where are you streaming it from? FINALLY listened to Born Losers and it's good. Nothing special but it's good. It that Holly McNarland in the bridge with Good? Or is it that one girl who sung with Matt in the bland version of Hurt? I also heard Metal Airplanes today and thought it was good as well but missing that little something. I know Matt has "grown" but he shouldn't be afraid to put a little edge back into his music. I know these days he prefers the folk styles of Johnny Cash, Nick Drake, Wilco which is fine but...but eh I don't know know, I feel the music is really slacking. ..but I'll add this: I think the 2005 arrangement of Black Helicopter was excellent and I hope that hasn't changed and that the rest of the album sounds like that.
  12. www.fm96.com : linkin park vs matt good 63% linkin park - bleed it out 37% matt good - born losers Thanks For Your Vote! Let's change that (top right corner on the main page)!
  13. It's too bad Bob Rock killed this band. Spinning my Tea Party albums tonight and musically, I'm having difficulty thinking of bands who had tighter musicianship together than these three members. Listening to them lends one to believe that they've been playing music together since they were 12 years old. Obviously, they are famous for their distinctive Middle Eastern-y yet gloomy sound with Jeff Martin's theatre mastered vocals but I'm creating to this to point out one thing: they were the Kings at creating ballads. IMO, they have created the most gorgeous rock ballads (at least for a Canadian group) that reach untouchable levels. Even on a generic album like Seven Circles (thank you Bob Rock), tracks like Oceans and especially The Watcher are stunning and an absolute pleasure to listen to. Another of my favourites over the years include: Chimera, Gone, Psychopomp, Requiem, These Living Arms, Taking Me Away, Dreams of Reason, Correspondences, etc... Also, don't choose Transmission as the best Tea Party album--it clearly wasn't. [i might just be on a high tonight and exaggerating ever so slightly but at least for a former muchmusic/mainstream radio group, they were ballad masters and KNEW how to deliver the goods].
  14. they suck live yet you ordered for two shows?
  15. Nice to have you back, cringle.
  16. what does that supposed to mean "Mr. I'm always anonymous every time I come to teh bored"?
  17. I'll upload their most popular and one of their more accessible albums for starters. Where You Been - 1993 http://www.sendspace.com/file/ba2roc People with '90s blood like Shiri and Charles would also like this.
  18. Yeah I work for Fat Possum Records in Mississippi. *better add an emoticon for the slow-witted* ;)
  19. Listening to it right now (on track 5). It's alright so far. It has too much of a Southern Rock influence so far I would say and yeah, this feels like an effort from a full band. Pretty generic so far and Cornell's voice is iffy. I'll be back when the album is done. Okay, done with the album. The cover of Billie Jean really wasn't necessary and I did not like it at all. The second half of the album is so forgettable but it's not like the first half was any better. Overall, I guess it's a fairly decent album but would I buy it or listen to it again? Can't see it happening.
  20. Who has checked out the latest Dinosaur Jr. album "Beyond"? This is their first album in 10 years. If you aren't familiar with them, they were one of the pioneer alternative rock bands much like The Pixies who peaked in the late 80s/early 90s with their sound & popularity. What makes this album special is that this is the first time since 1988 that the original band members have re-united and it really shows on the cd. Dinosaur Jr. have a very rich sound for an indie rock band as their guitars are the main focus in the music. They also aren't afraid to do lengthy guitar solos (pretty much unheard of in indie rock) and I think that is pretty cool. If you want a really rocking album that is true to what alternative music is, better give it a listen.
