  1. why is rabbits and all together facing each other so early? it should be like the playoffs...much stronger songs taking on weaker songs in the first round. Last Parade Sort of a Protest Song All Together Going All the Way Volcanoes Empty Road Load Me Up Great Whales of the Sea album version
  2. rico is an underappreciated song. anti-pop as well.
  3. yuck...good thing I didn't order tickets yet. I understand and respect the amount of Vancouver songs being played but man, the non-Vancouver songs, talk about predictability. At least get some variation with those! geez
  4. Ha, the reason I signed up onto these boards were solely because of these competitions. 1) Tripoli 2) Look Happy, It's the End of the World 3) Weapon 4) Born Losers 5) The War is Over 6) Girl Wedged Under the Front of a Firebird 7) Jenni's Song 8) My Out of Style is Coming Back 9) Flashdance II
  5. again, the album sounds nothing like amputechture. it's their most radio friendly album by a mile and a half. it's very modern rock for them.
  6. i dont like it. if you thought old muse was a bit over the top, wait until you hear this. it actually comes off as being cheesy...that's how pretentious it is.
  7. Man...that's a lot of pretentious, smart ass answers directed towards me! glad to be back.
  8. My order: Man of Action Giant Champions of Nothing Pledge of Allegiance Last Parade Alabama Motel Room Deep Six Put Out Your Lights Last three aren't the greatest songs. And...(damn these are better songs) Sort of a Protest Song House of Smoke and Mirrors Change of Season The War is Over Running for Home Empty
  9. Well I know Matthew Good posts here so he would have directly read this post with every intention of gathering peoples' opinions here. Though creating a new thread does make it more of an indirect encounter...(if I posted this in the Vancouver thread, that would have been a direct encounter as he would have been searching for a post like this). My bad. *one more thing--wow, Volcanoes has to be one of Matt's best songs. That track is fucking killer.
  10. When Vancouver was first available to stream, I gave the album a hard time and was extra critical for whatever reason. I decided to take a long break. Fast forward to today and I saw a concert ad for Massey Hall in the paper and thought to myself: "I've been a dedicated fan for ages, the least I can do is give the album another listen". So I downloaded it, gave it a listen and realized that it's a pretty damn great album. It's very classic Matthew Good--I don't know what I was even wanting at first. It's sounds like his best album (Avalanche) so what more can you even want? It's waaay better than White Light or Hospital Music--I even like it more than the first three MGB albums. I'm going to go off and buy the album and then order tickets to see one of his shows at Massey Hall. thanks matt for staying true to the music. *by the way, how does Last Parade sound on the radio? Was it butchered like how Near Fantastica and Catastrophe were? I can't really see this song being played on an awful station like The Edge.
  11. who are you? shade's overzealous internet girlfriend?
  12. i've always noticed over the years here how shade is a pretentious douchebag. lots of smart ass like comments i've read and i'm barely even here. no wonder he spends all his time online listening to his "obscure" music. good luck with that.
  13. New muse album coming out next week? who's has a link for this bad boy?
  14. the album sounds nothing like amputechture. it's their most radio friendly album by a mile and a half. it's very modern rock for them.
  15. let's get Bad Pennies on the NF store. One more thing about the album is that it's just not dark enough. The songs on Vancouver are too similar to a track like Odette from Hospital Music. I could never get into that watered down sound personally. Just too safe for my liking--the album is a little too predictable for my tastes; I agree with ONE other person in this thread! haha
  16. okay...i'm back and going to give the album a headphone listen. if the phone rings, i am ignoring it. my post is all going to be disjointed thoughts--what comes to my mind when I listen to the album. it's nice to see that matt good actually posts in these threads. i'll try to not be so harsh then ;) anyway, i've sorta fallen out of touch with music and sadly matthew good over the past few years so hopefully this brings me back into him & music. through my first ROUGH listen, the album sounds a lot more like avalanche than his other releases which is great to hear, since Avalanche remains my favourite album by either Mr. Good or his band. with that said, i hope it's not a duplicate of the album--it's great when artists change up their sound. obviously, matthew good has done this well...(avalanche, WLRARR, Hospital) are all pretty different from each other so i shall see. no more filler from me, it's time to begin. 1) Last Parade - pretty epic opening. guitars are already sounding like something from avalanche. near fantastica-esque this song. nice to hear matt swear. great opener. matt's always had very grandeur opening tracks; well except for put out your lights. 2) The Boy Who Could Explode - okay, I think I am on the next song. or maybe this is a continuation of Parade? It gels very well with Parade. Yup...it's the next track! haha. Sounding good. Not as good as the opener though. 3) Great Whales Of The Sea - I guess this is supposed to be the joke song on the album? matt's voice is sounding good on this album. his voice was a little raspy on Hospital Music to me. ooh, I like when the band joins in here. short song. 4) Us Remains Impossible - this is sounding a bit radio friendly to me. is this the single or will be a single? the pre-chorus builds well but the chorus is very anti-climatic. i'll definitely skip this song for future listens. this is not a grower. 5) On Nights Like Tonight - ah yes, this is version #2 of the song avalanche. Also track #5! good song though obviously since it sounds exactly like avalanche. don't really have any other comments. 6) Volcanoes - this is okay as well. it seems most of the songs are building up exactly the same way here. musically, this album to me sounds like matthew good's final chapter. it would be a bold way to end a fine career--with epic string arrangements everywhere. obviously, this album will sound a million times better than a stupid stream though. 7) A Silent Army In The Trees - good song again--just not hearing anything different. every song on the album Avalanche had its own uniqueness to it, it seems on Vancouver that all of these songs flow together so similarly. if a friend played a song randomly for me, i would have a difficult time telling which song it was. 8) Fought To Fight It - wow, a different beat to begin a song! second single? this sounds like a combination of i'm a window and the future is x-rated to me. pretty good. 9) The Vancouver National Anthem - good song again. they've all have been good songs to me except us remains impossible. again, though, i can't help to point out that most of these songs sound eerily similar to each other. matthew good showing some aggression with his voice in the last few songs. i just wish there was a bit of an edge still with matthew good still--such as from the fall of man or a boy and his machine gun. 10) Empty's Theme Park - grandeur opening here. sounding good again of course. matthew good is the definition of consistency. i'm not sure if i'm going to buy this album though. there isn't anything on this album that blows me away or gives me chills up my spine. feels like a pretty "safe" album to make -- there's nothing here sounding drastic from his past; it should hook on the audience that can't get enough of avalanche. no one is going to hate this album, that's for sure. this is a pretty good closer. the string arrangements are very strong in this album but they themselves do not bolster the songs up to epic proportions. the first and last songs are the favourites on the album. all done! pretty good album. solid as expected. Definitely better than Hospital Music. Nowhere near as good as Avalanche. On par with WLRARR for me in terms of preference even though they both sound dramatically different. again, it sounded like a pretty safe album to make. the fans wanted another avalanche...this is exactly what they got. there just wasn't anything here memorable or something that emotionally hooked me in. thanks for reading. *post corrected for many typos*
  17. i'm trying to listen to it but my phone keeps fucking ringing...i have missed two songs in its entirety. it's sounding very promising...more like avalanche but i'm not sold yet. i will give the album a PROPER, FULL LISTEN with NO DISTRACTIONS later this week but right now, they're sounding like the weaker tracks on Avalanche, or songs that weren't good enough to make the album. Heck, On Nights Like Tonight was basically a bad version of the song Avalanche. I will give proper listen though for all of you. (the second half of the album is slacking a bit as I listen...)
  18. Yeah I knew he has other stuff released solo but I have never heard it. BTW, I still haven't listened to the album that you linked me. I shall when I get home from work.
  19. thank you good sir. i have big expectations but it will probably sound like their last two albums. their being pavement of course.
  20. does anyone have the album fur and gold by bats for lashes? also, tv on the radio - dear science Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Real Emotional Trash thanks
  21. sorry, i'm behind with music. who has the latest beck album to upload for me? thx in advance and thanks to the girl who gave me the sigur ros album--i'm just never here often enough. btw, Do Make Say Think is awesome. EDIT #93092492 one more band that i'm looking for. people always recommend me things over the years but i never made it to it, probably because music isn't the forefront in my life anymore. anyway, a british friend of mine recommended animal collective to me YEARS ago and i never made it to them but from what i'm told, i would love them. i don't download music on my own which is why i'm piss poor at "finding" music these days. anyway, if anyone has ANY animal collective and the new beck album, that would be swell.
  22. can any of you guys help out with the newest sigur ros album? I'm sampling it on AMG and getting too excited.
  23. Fuck the conservative government, does anyone have the new Wolf Parade album and want to upload it here for us? Apologies To The Queen Mary was awwwesome and I really want to hear At Mount Zoomer. Thanks in advance.
