  1. Obviously champions of nothing is the best song on the album but what is teh second best? 99% of us is failure? Black Helicopter? What do you say? Also, hot damn, the album is a lot more enjoyable owning it and not listening to a goddamn stream with low quality.
  2. Great performance.
  3. Silverchair's not the cool thing anymore. But I will say that if you were a little off-taken by Young Modern, listen to it again! It's an great, great album. (Obviously Diorama as well).
  4. Yes, they're nothing like Jack Johnson or pop-rock shite like that. Check out the early albums--pretty diverse music.
  5. I don't want to waste a thread so I'll put it here. In contrary to what I said before, Avalanche is still better than Hospital Music. HOWEVER, as a fucking whole, I've come to appreciate solo Matt Good more than the MGB. For example, get this: I would rather listen to White Light over Beautiful Midnight these days.
  6. I was in pain and had my widsom teeth pulled out so I watched the whole thing. Foo Fighters were easily the best performers. I'm not surprised to see Billy showing off his ego and opening with a 9 min song that no one has ever heard of. Anyone noticed how he pronounced Tarantula? Again, trying to be a jerk. I think the crowd significantly enjoyed Roger Waters more than the Police. Madonna is a self-indulgent asshole--trying four different genres in her performances. Chris Cornell was on the same time as the Foos so I was flicking back but Cornell doesn't know how to sing live. A.F.I were also on at the same time as the former two and I cringe at the kids who tuned to that instead. Taking Back Sunday and Fall Out Boy were pretty unbearable--these bands need new vocalists. I'm surprised DMB played Don't Drink The Water! Oh yes, there was this one cool J-Rock band but forget who they were. and that's all i can remember...
  7. I bought a Bjork cd the other week and didn't listen to it yet. Which is too bad because she's awesome.
  8. I heard White Pony too many times over the years so I think I'm going to say that Adrenaline and Around The Fur are my two favourites, despite being early nu metal. S/T and Saturday Night Wrist are pretty much the same album.
  9. nin > ween though and i don't care how indie ween is
  10. I've said it before when I/O came out and people were attacking me. Bellaclava >> I/O. Also, no annoying drumming in it.
  11. IME covering Tool's forty-six and two
  12. mary star of the sea > zeitgeist the future embrace >>>>>>> zeitgeist (no exaggeration) Stephen Thomas Erlewine of allmusic.com made a hell of a review and I agree entirely. The problem with Billy Corgan is that he wants attention--he wants to be praised, he wants his records to sell, he wants to be in the spotlight, he wants to lead the biggest group in the land...and the only way he can try to rekindle this past is to re-form the "smashing pumpkins". Zeitgeist is nothing but proof of Billy Corgan's anxiety to regain that rock god status that he once had. Zeitgeist sounds like Disc 3 of the Aeroplane Flies High set; throw-a-way heavy rock songs with endless distortion that really lacks any sense of poise, conviction, or melody for that matter. But hey, he proved the skeptics wrong; at least he brought back the rock! Who cares of TheFutureEmbrace was the most honest record that he's recorded since Adore? Who in their right mind would want to market to a lower, more specified core audience anyway? I just hate how he can get away with writing B-material rock songs that are poor, poor attempts at returning to the Pumpkins roots and many people such as yourselves bringing praise to the man. What bugs me the most is that this will haunt me as an album made by the Smashing Pumpkins. The DAY he released TheFutureEmbrace and made that one-page post in the Chicago newspaper about re-joining the Pumpkins just about brought tears to me...I just knew his music would turn into mediocrity just bring back a "sound" that he grown and HAPPILY evolved out of over the years. God I'm so pissed.
  13. This season, they were advertised to "play their own instruments" but from the limited performances that I've seen, definitely not the case. anyway, not the greatest performance by any means (especially tearing it down for time's sake) but here it is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dOu6zEBLi5M Also, apparently someone played Stereo by The Watchmen and The Bird and The Worm by the Used. I guess they really can play anything. and for those who don't know the original, it rocks:
  14. Someone just sang Used to be Alright by I Mother Earth on Canadian Idol! (heard it playing from my mom's room...no lie)
  15. I believe they play the entire thing on the radio.
  16. Not sure what crawled up Saturines's...uh, bottom side... but after my second listen, this is definitely his best solo release. No doubt about it. My first listen had the player screw up so I missed half of devil's in your details and moon over marin (which is a good song!) but I say the highlights are: champions (obviously) 99% of us is failure she's in it for the money black helicopter i'm a window (this one's gotta be a single) firebird (wish this had been longer!) For those that are disappointed, my guess is that you think it's bland because the songs don't get very heavy? I was a big critic of his demos (many of them I found pretty undesirable) but these are way better enhancements of the demos. She's in it for the money was never that good before.
  17. Done. Might very well be Matt's best album but I'm not sure as I think I managed to skip 1.5 tracks (some of tracks 8-10?) so I cannot give a fair review, god damn it. Well it's easily better than White Light...that's for sure. Maybe Avalanche...need another listen.. preferably with the aid of knowing what songs that I was even listening to! But great work.
  18. Matt better have a good reason for why I Am Not Safer Than A Bank made the album.
  19. I think I'm on The Devil's in your details now? The last song ended abruptly or the player and/or my hands managed to skip to the next track. Lousy Matt being an ass and ensuring that we don't skip a beat of this. Yeah, apparently I'm on Girl Wedged Under The Front Of A Firebird. Somehow, I skipped one of the tracks!
  20. Glad he didn't change Black Helicopters up. First half of the album has been an absolutely delight. And now The Boy Come Home...
  21. At this rate, if this isn't Matt Good's best solo release, I'm going to be disappointed. (currently on Odette, which sounds so fucking fresh)
