  1. I guess I really like the concept of it. The guy doesn't have a fantastic voice by any means but he sounds incredibly sincere to me. I'm also lyrically very fond of the album (Tracks like Two Headed By, Pt 2, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1, Oh Comely are fantastic) and the music only fuels the emotion for me; I actually find the album can be very moving at times. It kinda flows kinda like a dream or bizarre disjointed reflection of one's life to me.
  2. Yeah, this sounds pretty sweet.
  3. Apparently it's a forest west of Clayton Park where everyone used to go to get trashed. It could possibly still exist as there's still a fair bit of forest if I'm thinking of the right area but I'm guessing it's more or less what the Mainland Commons/Halifax West area used to be before that whole area around Parkland and upper part of Lacewood was developed. That's kinda cool considering that's pretty much behind my apartment. I'm in one of the apartment buildings on Chadwick that have been built for 30 or 40 years so they would have been the edge of the developed area as you went into "Ashtray Rock". And yeah, the album is pretty awesome. I like it as much as Truthfully, Truthfully probably. Fashionable People is probably my least favourite off of the album.
  4. Yeap, released this Tuesday. It's called "Ashtray Rock". http://www.maplemusic.com/product.asp?dept...20%2D34&lang=EN
  5. Nice man. I have no idea why I continuously order CD's online when I can just go to a store and pick it up for cheaper.
  6. Everyone here should get that Neutral Milk Hotel album. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea is incredible. Nice upload, man.
  7. Yeah, man, it was fucked up. Oh well. She went to this hospital today and got some drugs so that's cool. Hope you recover quickly. I found it didn't really take too long once I got antibiotics when I had it.
  8. Batman by far. You rock, Shiri.
  9. I voted pneumonia. My girlfriend has the same thing and she saw a doctor today who spoke with her for 3 minutes and told her it was stress and that she should go home and relax (she's finished her exams and it's actually gotten worse, she's not getting enough air to the point where her lips go numb). I'm pretty certain it's "walking" pneumonia (had the exact same thing a few years ago) so I'm trying to convince her to go to the hospital tomorrow, rather than the lame walk in clinic.
  10. *raises hand* I can help with that.
  11. If you really loved it you'd make time to do it. ;) I just ordered the new Joel Plaskett Emergency album.
  12. Me either. I would remove my pants BEFORE shitting over him. BAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!! Seriously, I think he's pretty decent. Doesn't deserve his reputation though.
  13. The new album is actually way better than I thought it would be. He's still not rocking out but I dig the way it sounds.
  14. Yeah, I really don't hear the country at all... Going by all of the descriptions here I thought it was going to be similar to Hopeless. Not even close; it's rock & roll.
  15. It's alright. Least favourite so far.
  16. I'm debating going to Montreal for a week or so if I have to. That's how bad I wanna see it. It would be a good experience too.
  17. supercanuk: No worries at all. And yeah, I'm really torn on the whole Wal-Mart thing that's kinda what I was tryin to say. I do empathize with the families in under developed nations that Wal-Mart takes advantage of (which is the main reason I do not shop there anymore) and I would really much rather have them change these policies than keep doing what their doing. I guess what I was saying is I hate what they do and am usually fairly vocal about it but I find myself very uncomfortable (to the point where I don't even talk about it around my girlfriend's sister or other people I know who only shop at Wal-Mart because they can't afford to go elsewhere) and even less passionate about my dissent for Wal-Mart when they are around me and mention that they have to pick something up from there. Moonlight: I haven't been there in a year or so but all I've really seen there is supervisors chasing after kids trying to get them to actually do some work (I remember one time I witnessed a supervisor follow a teenager around and pick up clothes that the guy was just hanging in random places and laying them on racks over other clothes and whine about how he hated putting stuff away. It was disgusting.) and also whenever I would have to find something I'd search the entire section and then ask for help and I'd get, "I'm not sure where that is, try the section it's supposed to be in" or they'd take me to some aisle and tell me to "look around there". I also hate having to interrupt people from conversations with the friends to get service. They were always decent with returns (I think I've only ever made one there but there was no problems at all) and that was cool but from what I've seen of behaviour within the store from most employees it would have been enough to prompt me to stop shopping there had I not have stopped after watching The High Cost of Low Prices. Maybe the store is just under poor management, I dunno. I've only really been to one store and it could even be a lot better now (like I said I haven't been there) but I did get one punk fired from a complaint so I'm kinda happy with that. I don't expect much from a department store in terms of service and I don't let a single experience of poor service influence my opinion of a business (unless it's extremely bad and there's no attempt of service recovery) but I at least expect their employees to treat it like something other than a playground or a place to hangout with friends.
  18. It's still up isn't it? Edit: I'd probably take it down if I were you.
  19. You're about to get told, man.
  20. 6518 in my iTunes library. Plus 100 or 200 other tracks.
  21. Anyone having problems viewing the audio or video players on mg.org? It keeps prompting me to open/save player.html when I click on them but flash vids play fine on other sites. I've never had this problem on the site before.
  22. Shit. Was it only up for two hours or something? I saw it was posted when I quickly checked at work and now that I have access to speakers at home it's not there. Daaaamn... [hide_me]Eh-hem... My email is [email protected]. *sniffle*[/hide_me]
  23. I enjoyed it. It was waaaay better than what I thought it would be.
  24. I totally didn't see your post prior to now but yeah, it seemed a little gimmicky at first but it was refreshing that they didn't really get patriotic at all or even really mention the whole thing more than once or twice. To me it really seemed like they picked 9/11 so that it personalized the characters a bit more and made it easier for people to identify with his situation. No different to me than referencing Swissair Flight 111 or any large scale natural disaster. They were pretty tactful and as someone who didn't even bother seeing World Trade Centre or United 93, I was indifferent to the inclusion of 9/11, it didn't really take away from the movie at all.
  25. Eeeeeeeewwww... But apparently you don't care about a quality music player. At least get Winamp, yo. ;)
