  1. just look at 2pac. for some reason he has an album out every two years or so.
  2. its a simple fact that age does not dictate maturity. not being allowed to buy a certain CD at a certain age is ridiculous.
  3. whose parents actually bought them CD's based on such an advisory in the first place?? it seems like a dumb thing to have... i mean, when you're 8 or 9 and can't buy your own CDs, i can't really see a parent introducing their child to marilyn manson at that age, regardless of what they're advised to do by some white people in a room with no windows... when you're 11 or 12 (or younger), thats when the adventures (sans parents) to the mall start... so you end up buying your own CDs with your allowance, and don't really care about what mom and pop say... so it is as if the parental advisory that comes on CDs falls on deaf ears... all it does is ruin the cover.
  4. charlize theron has been confirmed as a guest-star for 5 episodes in season three. i'm interested in seeing who else will show up.
  5. i consider salival to be a collection of bsides and live tracks. although it might not be. i always just think of it as something that they threw together.
  6. sometimes, for whatever reason, songs just don't make the cut to an album. what are some of your favorite b-sides or rarities?? mine include (in no order): tool - "no quarter" foo fighters - "just another story about skeeter thompson" autolux - "under orbit" nine inch nails - "get down, make love"
  7. nick cave & the bad seeds - "here comes the sun (beatles)"
  8. vinyl??? vinyl??? it's shellac all the way my friend.
  9. im betting he's going to be on much more music or he's just going to be behind the scenes from now on. i doubt he's leaving chum...
  10. you've got to admit, it does take some sort of talent to come up with lyrics like that, as juvenile as they may be.
  11. see thats the thing, these bands are all pretty much in the genre of music that i like but for various reasons, i can't listen to them. i do however like what they're doing, their originality and in some cases their lyrics as well. its not that i hate these bands. i'd say that even though its last on that list, nine inch nails is probably the best example of this. i absolutely can't listen to their music but i enjoy their lyrics, like what they're doing, and i also love jonny cash's cover of hurt. its weird i know. i know what you mean. the fiery furnaces are very good, but very hard to get into. mainly just because the music they come up with can be so strange at times... they've got great pop sensibilities though, and i'm finding that that's my way in.
  12. i agree about the stones. i don't really like many of their songs... janes addiction is another band who have critical respect and in many ways were important in music culture, but i really can't get into them for some reason. i acknowledge that the original lineup had quite a lot of talent.
  13. The New Pornographers - "Use It"
  14. blast. oh well, it was worth a shot. and just so no one is left wonderring, trent from NIN was in 1000 homo DJs with Al from ministry. the end.
  15. that sounds awesome! man i can't wait to see them live again. they were the first concert i ever went to, so i hold a dear place for them in my heart. and i also agree that salival is quite the CD, even if it was slapped together just to hold people over between disks. you gotta wonder though, what other kind of rarities and b-sides do they have locked away from us?
  16. Isn't that what was said last year? And what will be said 5 years from now? they had fall 2005 in their sights last year. whether or not they'll stick to it is up to them.
  17. i would but i kind of like the melvins. OMG YAH MAYNARD IS GOD LAWL
  18. hahahha. well at least he's got a tan now... it'd look worse if he didn't. also, i just realized that MJK was BBQing red peppers in that one grill picture.
  19. here's an experiment. not sure if it'll work, but its worth a shot. we all understand how musical tag works, this works in a very similar fashion. the point in the game is to connect two bands using the members of the bands and the other bands they've been in. you can't connect using producers or roadies or groupies or guest appearances or anything like that. soooo... for example, if i wanted to connect MGB with queens of the stone age, i'd say: MGB, Dave Genn -> DSK, Glen Vegas -> 60 Cycle, Troy Van Leeuwen -> Queens of the Stone Age so that "band map" reads that dave genn was in MGB but was also in DSK with glen vegas, who was in 60 cycle with troy of queens of the stone age. get it? i don't know if thats the best way of writing things, and i'm open to suggestion, but that's basically how it works. so each turn, you map together the two bands suggested in the turn before yours and then make a new suggestion. because i mapped MGB and queens of the stone age together, now i'll make a new suggestion. the next person has to connect: Nine Inch Nails to Ministry.
  20. bump? rather than start a brand new thread, i just thought i'd use this one. tool are being very "hush, hush" (no pun intended) when it comes to the current album that they're hard at work on. however, they did take the time to share some photos recently... here's a few: adam, doing stuff. QOTSA's josh homme for a visit. not guesting though. maynard. "jim" on the BBQ. i can't make out what he's actually cooking though. the melvins' king buzzo (not guesting either) and maynard. danny, doing stuff. justin, doing stuff. so it's apparent that they're doing stuff. doing more than just rehearsing nowadays, they're in the studio. but who knows when that stuff will be ready... i've heard some say fall 2005, but i wouldn't be suprised if it came later.
  21. Joy Division - "Closer" My Bloody Valentine - "Isn't Anything" Sufjan Stevens - "Come on feel the ILLINOISE"
