  1. im pretty certain that the tracklisting they've provided is a fake.
  2. i think its pretty but not much different from the lateralus artwork.
  3. it's a nice pillow though, don't get me wrong.
  4. no offence to dan or nothin, but i'm quite tired of these "new music sucks" threads/posts. it's all just a matter of looking for it and being persistent. edit: i added an "s". well, two.
  5. them collaborating and his positive feelings about the new material is good to hear. although he was the one who said with teeth was going to be like thirteen punches to the face, which it wasn't.
  6. thanks man. i may just try to attend that.
  7. i said no, mainly because i've never heard any of your music. frankly, for the first few months of my joining this board, i had assumed that panic button was just sort of a fake band that you liked posting about and didnt actually record anything for.
  8. i like it. looking forward to may. new PJ and tool. kinda exciting.
  9. it is a lot of hype... but that doesnt mean though that there isn't good music being put out. you can't compare this "invasion" to the last, or the one before that, since with the prior ones you have the advantage of being able to look back in retrospect. "heyyyy blur had more good songs that aren't song 2??? wow"
  10. i do think itd be kickass if they went on tour with matt good but thats very unlikely.
  11. i think this should be their next album cover so that the visuals match up with the superb listening experience.
  12. i've heard a bit of art brut's stuff and like what they do. as a fan of suede, have you listenned to the tears album? is it any good? yeah sorry, i didn't mean for it to come out that way. people certainly aren't inferior for genuinely liking something. awesome, let's be friends. right. although, its not the band i dont like, its the music. who wrote it is irrelevant. to me the songs are bad and thats all i was expressing. obviously i dont think everyone is going to share my opinion nor was i saying that they should have to. the arctic monkeys just don't have a spot on my playlist. i'm not saying they never will. they could come back and write some really good stuff. music is subjective blah blah blah... this is a speech everyones heard before. i never said they don't have talent. i said a lot of things, but not that. if anything i said about them was completely unfounded and worth disagreeing with, people would've done so. people like music for different reasons, and thats fine. i just don't see why this band is more preferable to listen to than any other.
  13. so im guessing you don't like what i said? i agree, suede were really big at the beginning of their career, but as far as pulp and blur are concerned, it took them years to actually get noticed. maybe i should've clarified: i don't like instant media phenomenon when the band hasn't even put out a record.... or even for a debut. so no, i wouldnt have approved of the shitstorm suede started until i gave their record a listen. i really dont care what you say about suede or pulp, especially since i haven't heard their entire catalogue and wouldnt claim to have. but i don't think that's necessary in order to say that they have substance. as for blur: saying that blur lacked substance post-parklife is alarming and confusing. saying that i've never listenned to them because i think otherwise is juvenile and you're pulling it out of your ass. but that's not even the fucking point. the point was that the bands i had listed had substance at some point or another, and i was offerring them as alternatives because the arctic monkeys have no substance, and thats something you never botherred to contest, strangely enough. i'm not eclectic. nor do i profess to be. i'm pretty goddamn anglo-centric. jesus christ, i said the band sucked and now you're angry at me for it?? i listenned to the album, i gave my opinion. do you even like the arctic monkeys yourself? how can one not conform? i'm conforming to lots of things and its unavoidable. i didnt buy the album, that would be nonsense. i have a copy on my computer. mmm piracy. i listenned to it more than once. it sucked. its essentially the same song on repeat 13 times. "i got real drunk wif me mates and went to a club to dance and saw some pretty birds we wanted to stuff and ran into the bobbies and got kicked out man we're silly boys and hooligans, etc, etc" no you're not speaking my language because i dont listen to any of those bands save for the cure. you're name dropping just as much as i am, although, yours is dignified because its only for humor purposes. straylight run and death cab for cutie? you've got to be joking. these are the facts: the record has no scope, no wit, no depth and is a waste of time. instead, it replaces those things with empty gestures, safe sounds, by-the-numbers music, and numberous tracks having to do with boozin' and brawlin' that i don't really care for. these songs remind me of something the firefighting students at my school would come up with. if you would like to talk about the arctic monkeys at some point, please do so. otherwise, may i suggest you start a "i hate borntohula" thread elsewhere.
  14. woo woo!!! they're also re-releasing the first and second seasons with more stuff... or so ive read.
  15. these guys are shit. i've got the album and its awful. if vaccuous pop music is your thing and you listen to whatever music magazines tell you to, i guess this is your bag. whenever somethings an immediate phenomenon and explodes into our consciousness via the media, don't you think to question that at all? sure that single's pretty catchy.... but the rest of the album? it might be catchy but that certainly doesnt make it a worthwhile listen. if you want something with more substance, listen to maximo park, blur, suede or pulp for god's sakes.
  16. right now there isn't any more. i'll update this thread if i come across any though.
  17. i wasnt big into music until the mid-late years of highschool, pretty much when i finally started thinking for myself. before then i just listenned to AM radio with my parents or what everyone at school liked. then i started liking dance music around grade 8. ;) i couldnt dance or nothin, but i listenned to the dance station all the time. then i bought americana by the offspring, which led me to limp bizkit and korn which led me to finger eleven. then i think in the summer of 2001 or so, i was really bored with current music and put on my dad's led zeppelin I record, which i think was in many ways where i actually started really getting into music. haven't looked back since. now some of my favorite bands include: tool, NIN, matt good, APC, blur, beck, cat power, autolux, sigur ros, feist, the mars volta, nick cave & the bad seeds, godspeed you! black emperor, pearl jam etc. etc.
  18. your dad's a computer program? that's awesome. you're half data!!!
  19. some of you might be familiar with the work of ken andrews. he's produced/mixed for a number of acts (pete yorn, APC, tenacious d) as well as fronted a few, most notably: failure and year of the rabbit. now, he's got a new project in the works called los angeles digital noise academy. the premise of the band is pretty darn cool: the band itself consists of 25 members or so and when someone comes up with an idea, be it a guitar lick or drum pattern, etc., they post it on the internet for the rest of the members to see. then, the rest of the band can add to that original idea, passing it back and forth until a song has been made. so far they've written about 5 songs this way, and judging by the one that's been put online, i think they're onto something. 20. i'll probably go. i go to school up here. the foundation is a butthole, but whatevs!! its matt good! that's twice he's come to barrie for me. what a nice guy.
  21. like the missus said, it's shit. the cheaper the alcohol, the more likely i'm going to throw it back up. i for one am not a fan of vomiting.
  22. hahhaa!! i loved it. i liked it when he would scream, that's just great comedy right there. fuck, that kid has potential to be the greatest actor ever. i wonder a) who filmed him b) what the eff was wrong. "positif theenkink"
  23. i agree with dan. they're also a way to get into an artist's work. i think the best "best of" albums are ones that are recorded live, or have something relatively new to offer the listener. otherwise, its a waste of your time. just download the stuff and save yourself the $15.
  24. for some reason, it says "chinese democracy" over the door in the background. crazy nine inch nails.
  25. reading that garbage makes me sick.
