  1. Hahaha, well I'll never be able to listen to that song the same way again. Like after Mike and I noticed all the vacuum solos on With Teeth.
  2. There's a really boring interview with trent on Best Buy's NIN site. And you can pre-order the album there for 9.99. I listened to the album once, very passively, it wasn't the best.
  3. Has anyone suggested that maybe it's Willem Dafoe going under a rather cleverly misleading handle?
  4. I love Hugh Laurie, and got into the show for a bit, but the formula plays out way faster than CSI, and there aren't enough characters to stop it from being a really obvious prime time soap opera. Fuck, he's handsome though.
  5. hahaaaaaa! It's in my alarm clock which is next to my computer, so every once in a while i'll make it play then smack the snooze button one the song really kicks in.
  6. Isn't this very obviously a joke? What's the big stink. I think it's pretty funny, but half way through if you don't keep reminding yourself what she's singing, you just get distracted by how pretty her voice is. Is she still banging Ryan Reynolds?
  7. I borrowed the best of T. Rex from my dad, and I can't get the riff from 20th Century Boy out of my head.
  8. I watched Wet Hot American Summer over the weekend. That film continues to surprise me with how non-stop hilarious it is. I then wrote an essay on it. Then las tnight I watched THX 1138. That also continues to impress me, and I've now decided that Lucas' other stuff can't touch it, and neither can a lot of other movies. Way underrated.
  9. I'm glad my Cassandra Complex is wearing off, and people are starting to realize he's a bit of a hack. I was leaving a class the other night and I heard these film geeks talking about how un-thrilled they were about this. Then this weekend my dad, who has been defending Tarantino for years, and would kill for pulp fiction, said that he watched it again last week, and his response was 'meh'. Even if you can sit through his over the top, non-stop homages (we get it, other people made movies that you liked, now do something slightly original), can you then sit through another hour and a half of it from Robert Rodriges? I hope people don't realize this is a double billing, and the boredom causes riots to break out, and Tarantino is put on TV trial and imprisoned, and Roger Avery is commisioned to make a documentary on it, which by the way will be brilliantly directed. And I think he will continue to make shitty movies and money off of them, because Tarantino isn't the same guy he was ten years ago, and his core audience wasn't allowed to watch him ten years ago.
  10. Correct! Last night I watched Blade Runner and it was awesome as usual.
  11. Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex* but were afraid to ask. I loved this movie, some parts were weak though. I think that was just because Woody Allen was doing things he's never done before. Overall, very good.
  12. I won a patch on theninhotline! All I had to do was visit the site. I'm a winner, but I don't know how to claim it.
  13. Dr. Strangelove or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. I've seen it a few times and watched it before this semester, but they were showing the the newest special edition in class, and I can never get enough of this movie, so I watched it again. Once I get the last scene in my had, I just have to watch it all.
  14. NIN - The Great Below. I couldnt remember the title and was going to just say that one about drowning, but that's like, five songs on this album. So I took the extre two seconds to look, then the extra 30 seconds to write this part.
  15. I'm listening to Spacehog, The Hogyssy, specifically And It Is. Why arn't you?
  16. I watched Children of Men last night. Jesus Christ what a movie. Like it or not, if you don't think it should have one best direction at the Oscars you don't deserve eye balls.
  17. I like Pinkerton and was just thinking that while listening to the Pixies.
  18. That was, in all seriousness, one of the most amazing things I've ever watched. I went the whole video with a huge, open mouthed smile on my face. Anton...You own youtube and my heart, thank you for bringing us that.
  19. Sigur Ros - Heysatan. I guess it probably doesn't read like that in crazy talk like it does in english. This is my firt time listening to all of Takk... and I like it.
  20. If Bruce Cockburn had a rocket launcher, some son of a bitch would die.
  21. My girlfriend picked up 12o Days of Sodom by Sade as well. We had a quick look through it after and were surprised at the amount of material that involved farting into or on things, as well as how much fecophelia there was compared to other, let's say more traditionally erotic forms of perversion there were. The one I got wasn't one of his fictions, so I think it won't be so out there. What's the deal with The Secret?
  22. Marie Antoinette. I liked it a lot more than I thought. I started it expecting to hate it, but then it had an Aphex Twin song in the menu, and I had a real exploding heart like in The Grinch moment. It was really well shot and the way Sophia Copolla made a very modern but accurate period peace was excellent. I think the reason a lot of people didn't like it at Cannes was because it gives a very well known history a very human side. It really makes you question the way we understand history, and how hard it is to approach it with the right mix of subjectivity and objectivity. It also had this song in it that I've been trying to identify for the past few weeks, and I remembered the tune but still had no idea what it was. Then, thanks to this movie, I found out it was Age of Consent by New Order. The End.
  23. I was downtown the other day and there was an awesome book sale on at a used book store that I could never afford anything in in the past. It was sad because with so many books it's overwhelming and hard to find things. All I ended up getting was a book with a major essay on the Marquis de Sade and a selection of his writings. I also got a great looking book on science fiction and film. I'm kind of way too excited about both of them.
  24. I saw him on Graig Ferguson's show the other night and was sad that I hadn'y been watching his new show. He's one of the smartest and funniest guys on TV and I think what he does is really important. Kinda puts John Stewart to shame.
  25. Here's my question. How much actual gayness is in it? Because that's a pretty huge part of Spartan life. I'm not a huge stickler for historical inaccuracy or anything, but if you're going to make a movie that sends people away saying "Man, Spartans were cool" why not make them think that for the right reasons. So, if you people tell me there's no bum darts, I just don't know how I'll feel. Heartbroken, maybe.
