99% Of Us Is Failure Lyrics Question
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to moose's topic in Matthew Good
it also just means some kind of omen, bad luck, the signalling of shitty times. Also, in The Raven its been interpreted as the foresight of impending depression. Read that poem from the perspective of someone who knows they are bipolar, without the medical terminology and it makes a lot of sense. -
I've never been to or heard a Matt Good live performance that I thought would be good for anything other than actually being there. Either the venue or audience sucks. Matt Good recorded and live are two different things, and a lot of the time it's an egotistic move when artists cross the two, like their live performance is so good that they record it out of pity. Matt makes good albums because he is and has had good producers, and he is good live because he has had a good band. why does he have to make a live dvd/cd?

I was sad when I realized it was based on Philip K. Dick. Like Paycheck.

Stay With Me And You'll Have It Made

Brain damaged? You know it's not like a grey-matter eating virus or Zombism right? He is lucky that his type of Bipolar didn't lead him to being a drug addict or something, but it seems like by being creative and generally intelligent he's been able to deal with it pretty well for most of his life. -
Reasons other than KICKING TOTAL ASS! in sub-saharan Africa.

Today I remembered how similar in concept Batman and Iron Man are at times. Also, Free Comic Book Day, May 5th, don't forget. And Batman can only do so much. The man's main concern is Gotham. I'm sure he does stuff outside of Gotham as Bruce Wayne. ALSO! maggie gyllenhaal is replacing Katie Holmes in the movie.

What Are You Reading?

I'm going to read Equus today. I think Harry Potter is currently doing a production of it and he shows his willy. That kid's alright. -

When I first saw it, once that song started playing I knew that the movie was going to change how I feel about th zombie threat. -

Today I read The Collected Works of Billy the Kid by Micahel Ondaatje. I'd never read anything by him and never heard of this before. It was really good, a cool idea. -

Definately agree with you there. I want a poster of that last shot with the guy on the dock with the gun in his hand to encourage me and constantly remind me how to survive when the zombies come. I saw Hot Fuzz. Really good but me expectations were too high, so I expected more. Not as good as Spaced or Shaun of the Dead but damn close. -
It's okay. Some parts are just annoying, but most are hovering around good and mediocre. Better than With Teeth overall, but the grandiose nature of the non-music part of the album (the ARG campaign, and the oncept which is better than its own execution, Trent's trend-setting in the digital release of the album and frig-you to the record company)really just makes the album less impressive. As someone said earlier, if he had devoted the same energy to the music, it would have been a lot better. I'd say up there with the Fragile. A lot of the songs are more dense than any other NIN, and for that much fresh material his lyrics aren't that shitty. But then there's songs like Capital G to fuck it all up. That being said, parts of this have grown on me a bit, but parts of it have just gotten worse. So, overall it gets a 'meh' but a positive sounding one, with head nod not shake. Meh+.

Captain America should be on there too. But Batman's no capitalist. He's a one man non profit organization. Just because you're loaded out of your ass doesn't make you a capitalist. Spiderman on the other hand, he used to cash in on himself with the pictures, but I don't think that counts since muthafucka needed funding and he was ripping off the big boys anyway. Now, as for this guy, who I'm assuming is from that show Heroes, it reminds me that that show, based only on the commercials, is a rip off of Rising Stars, a comic that nobody read but me, made by the same guy who made Babylon 5 and wrote Spider-man back into coolness some time ago. Now that had the ultimate super heroes. If I had to pick one from them, it would be Poet. Nerdlinger is the word some of you might be looking for.

Agreed. My vote went to Batman with no hesitation. I like a lot of the other choices very much, but Batman, come on.

What Are You Reading?
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to Matt's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I picked up two books at a book sale today. I got 1984, which I've intentionally avoided since highschool, because, well, I get it already. But it was only $2 so now someday I'll actually read it. I also got Being There by Jerzy Kosinski. I watched the movie when I was a kid and it was the first time I remember being struck by the intelligence of a film, and I recognized the name Kosinksi, so I bought it, also for $2. I'm either going to read one of those today or a Phillip K Dick novel, I haven't decided yet. -
Sopranos Season 6
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to ham_ahoy's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I've been wanting to get into this show for so long, and only now I have started watching them on DVD. I wasn't surprised at how surprised I was by the raw goodness. Now I've got to try and watch every episdoe before the season finale. -
There was a time when people making that mistake was one of my biggest pet peeves. One time I spent the better part of the drive from waterloo to London arguing with my friend about it. Since we were in a car and there was no real way to prove it I just had to cite as much information about both releases as I could, obviously proving my expertise, but he refused to believe me.

I watched Bananas. It was really silly. Pretty good, different from other Woody Allen that I've seen. -
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! did you notice the name of his publishing company? Blacknificant Books. I'm going to slip that into a bibliography.
