  4. Do we citizens have the power? Can we really decide what happens in a country? Can our votes change the trend imposed in a country? The answer - in my opinion - is YES... yes, we can change things, with our votes, with our opinions, we can change things... we are the ones who give politicians the right to rule us, and we are the ones who have the power to take it out of them As an example for all those Americans who want to change the situation in their country and change the president who is ruling them (and the whole world, unfortunately), what happened in Spain some months ago: our ex-president supported Irak's invasion against 95% of the population, we didnt agree, we complained, we demonstrated... and some months later, in the elections, we took the power out of them and gave it to someone else, someone who had supported us in our complaints, in our oposition against the war. Americans, with your votes, you can change the president in your country and save yourselves and save the world

  9. I agree with Christian: how many "powerful" countries supported USA in this illegal war? Great Britain and Spain + a bunch of other small and almost poor countries? C'mon, Bush promised economical compensation to these countries just as a prize to support the war (I know a lot about it because unfortunately my ex-president with 95% of the spanish population against supported this illegal war in exchange of some scandalous compensations that we have learned afterwards and that make me feel ashamed of my country having participated in such a shameful action... it was a unilatelly action, against most countries population (again, 95% of the spanish population against) IT WAS AN ILLEGAL WAR, and see the consequences, see how the situation has "improved" (as Bush stated)... sad, simply sad... money makes the world selfish and greedy (http://www.granma.cu/espanol/manifestaciones/madrid.html = for you to see different pictures of demonstrations all around the world against the invasion in Irak)

  23. Hi guys, If someone knows Spanish or the movie is shown in your countries, there is this new Spanish movie (which has just gotten two of the most important awards in the Venice 2004 Movie Contest) which is spectacular... It is about the real case of a man who was the first one in Spain asking for the right to die (touches euthanasia) and thanx to whom a debate about euthanasia was opened up Javier Bardem (best actor award) has such a difficult and at the same time impressive role in the movie... and it shows very beautiful landscapes and real areas of Galicia (northwest past of Spain). If you can or are interested in watching a great movie and in this topic, try to see it ;)

  25. (sorry to disappoint and disagree with you, Jon, but "gotten" is a word... it is the past participle of "get", specially in American and Canadian English... acceptable as formal English by all grammar books I have read and used for my English classes ;) ) sorry for this offtopic
