if you're gonna insult me, at least get the spelling right, asshole. it's HARPY. ha. no, the reason he needs to stick around is because he's the only one capable of laying the smack down on ME. -

oh, i would make bands cry. they'd only know they'd truly made it when they got a good review from me. it's just that i don't work well when i feel like i HAVE to do something or i have a deadline or limitations, etc etc. -

i would be fucking awesome at that shit. but it would require listening to so much crap, and you can't possibly comprehend how lazy and unmotivated i am. as soon as i felt like i was REQUIRED to critique something, i'd lose all interest in it. -

you're absolutely allowed to have an opinion. but there's a big difference in 'definitely not good' and 'not very distinct'. say what you mean, mean what you say, etc. if you're gonna bust out with some lame ass shit like 'the guitar sounds bad lol' and 'the vocals are definitely not good rotfl' when you're talking about MY band - you best be ready to back that shit up, cause i am most certainly gonna question you. i'm sure jerry would agree with you that his vocals aren't 'distinct'. he's a guitarist first and foremost, not a frontman. and i'm pretty sure he'd be the first to tell you that. take your emo bullshit to a thread not dedicated to my seattle rock bois plz. thx. -

'it's all subjective anyway' is the cry of the person who is running their mouth just to run it and clearly can't back up what it is they are running it about. please explain to me how the guitar is 'bad'. please explain to me how the vocals are 'definitely not good'. really. i'm interested in hearing this. go ahead. -

i don't care what they call themselves. the name doesn't have any bearing on my enjoyment of jc's sweet jams. since 3/4 of the band are still living, i don't see why they should change it. -

since layne's not involved with it, it shouldn't. i don't really think i'm taking anything too seriously. my first internet home is the alice in chains board. i've been reading shit like this for months and i'm tired of it. it's disappointing to hear such a stupid statement from a person who is normally so intelligent. seeing that phrase repeated gets old. it's not like the band had a choice in the matter. layne's dead. unless he's suddenly morphed into tupac, i'm pretty sure he's not physically ABLE to perform on this record - and i'd think that fans would be more accepting of the other THREE members of the band continuing to make music. it's not like the quality has decreased - it's just not the SAME. and since it's not physically POSSIBLE for it to BE the same i will never understand why a fan would just decide to abandon interest in them. the rest of the band didn't suddenly become a bunch of talentless hacks once layne died. it's not any less relevant because he's not on it. it's just different. maybe if SATURNINE would stop swinging from trent reznor's sweaty ballbag and give it a fucking listen instead of crossing his arms and wrinkling his little nose at it, he'd fucking like that shit. and i'm seeing them friday. i'm going to axe jerry cantrell to show me his penis and also let me touch it. *sigh* -

the only white women fighting each other to sleep with black men would most likely be doing us a favor if they got aids and died in an alley somewhere. try again. -

what. yeah, jerry's guitar playing is a joke. that's why he's so highly regarded by his peers. that's why he's influenced over half the shit you hear on rock radio today. get the fuck out of this thread. christ. -

i think they're trying to break him in slow. i think on the next round they'll let him loose. i think this record might sort of be jc's goodbye to layne - and since william never knew him, it makes sense that he'd keep quiet this time around. that's just what i think, though. -

i don't know what alice in chains you guys are listening to, but william duvall doesn't sound like layne. if you hear anything that DOES, it's jerry. -

so you finally made it to compton? god, i'm funny. seriously. it ain't even right. yeah - the tribute was pretty cool. being in seattle was cool enough on its own, but i got to meet a lot of my aic internet nerd friends and remember layne with people that get it like i do, so it was a good experience. A++ would go again! -

this will be my 4th time. the first time i saw them i was 16, it was lollapalooza, and i was frying balls on acid. i don't remember shit, but since layne was still alive i like to brag about it anyway. i don't remember where you live, but i think it's somewhere up north - and they just toured up there. why didn't you try to catch a show??? tsk tsk. ha. i don't like the old music bank demos. i don't like my alice in chains sounding like an 80s hairband, and i fucking love some 80s cheese. i can't explain it. this past august i went to the layne staley tribute in seattle. the tribute itself was boring as shit - but it was still a really fucking cool feeling to be in a club full of people that were there solely because they wanted to remember him. i'm aiming to go back in a couple of years... hopefully by then they will have decided to stop having shitty bands play and utilize all the GOOD musicians that have heaps of respect for layne. -

i saw them twice in '06 with duvall - and i saw jerry twice on the degradation trip tour waaaay back in '02. comes with the fall opened and william was playing with jerry even back then, so i guess i'm just used to the idea of those two working as a team. you just have to stop thinking about alice in chains as layne staley and listen to this stuff for what it is. i can't see anyone that is a fan of jerry cantrell - and if you're a fan of aic, you're a fan of jc - being disappointed by this. i don't know what stuff you have that wasn't released, bishop. it's pretty well known in the aic communities that there's actually NOT a lot of unreleased stuff. they were never a band to go out and record tons of shit that wasn't gonna be put on the record. -

the vocals are pretty heavy on the jerry (just the way i like 'em) so i don't think it's really accurate to call william the new 'lead' singer. i think it's a pretty solid album, but i'm a total jc fangirl whore so i'm biased. everything that man touches turns to fucking awesome, if you ask me. as usual, sdt is talking out his ass. it sounds nothing like anything alice in chains has ever done - least of all layne-heavy 'old' alice in chains. if all you know is their singles, you are not equipped to judge and should instead stick to trying to make a love connection with the unwilling ladies of fargo or wherever the fuck you live. what it DOES sound like is solo jerry cantrell with a smattering of comes with the fall - in other words, it sounds exactly like what it IS. layne's gone. he's not coming back. this is what is left. enjoy it or don't, but stop your tit-sucking about the lack of layne. i'd much rather hear these guys continue to put out sweet jams that are gonna carry on a legacy and blow everything else on the radio out of the water than mope because layne's not around. bishop - where'd you see them? i'm seeing them next month. -
i want space invaders. i'll never play it though.
