I was listening to the BM version of Born to Kill the other day on full blast and boy does that kick ass. That's probably my favorite Matt Good (Band) song with strings.

I'm more into Ryan Adams' alternative/solo stuff than his country stuff, though I do very much enjoy Heartbreaker.

The Smashing Pumpkins
Gomo replied to here is no why's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Dude I've been meaning to comment on your screen name forever. I knew it was Pumpkins related. The Smashing Pumpkins are without a doubt my favorite band of all time. I have the Massey Hall shows from this last tour in mp3 form. That was good stuff! I was at the November 6th show in New York at United Palace Theater. I have that show in mp3 also (that and Massey from the official bootleg site). I'd say more people dislike the Pumpkins because they perceive Billy Corgan to be an asshole. I don't think the majority of people actually *hate* his voice. I happen to like it a lot. It has changed over the years that's for sure. But why I respect the Pumpkins, in all forms they've taken, is the versatility they possess. They are great musicians who dabble in all kinds of styles. Any band that can record something is insane as X.Y.U. and then 3 years later record something as delicate as To Sheila or For Martha has got my respect. And they just fucking rock. Dude at that November 6th show, I don't care what setlist they played, it was fucking great. Jimmy Chamberlin is the best drummer I've ever seen. No doubt. Corgan can rip a guitar to shreds with the best of them. 10 minute jam sessions with Rush medleys mixed in and 20 minute covers of Pink Floyd? Sign me up. It's all so kickass that I can't wait for the next tour. Corgan could play Gossamer for an hour and I'd eat it up. I don't know, call me a fanboy but the dude just rocks. I don't care if he's an asshole. His interviews make me laugh. I read them and go listen to The Aeroplane Flies High right after. Siamese Dream rocks. Soma rocks. You have good taste. I myself would say my favorite album is Adore, but I'm not sure what my favorite song is. It's probably something out of a group of Mayonaise, Porcelina, For Martha, Bodies, An Ode To No One, Hummer, This Time, and Age of Innocence. I will also say that I liked Zwan. Billy came up with some good songs during that era. Also you guys should check out Jimmy's solo project, Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. He made a great album with Billy Moehler. Corgan contributed vocals to the track "loki cat" on the album and it's very good. Ok one more thing, I don't miss James and D'arcy. Ginger and Jeff can really play. I just hope Billy gives them the keys to the recording studio at some point. -
I like Keane's first album, but their 2nd one is just kind of...meh. I'm not interested enough in the third.

Feist Vs. Regina
Gomo replied to Prometheon's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
I just discovered Regina Spektor in the last few months (thank you last.fm!). I don't have any of her albums yet, but I firmly intend to get Begin To Hope at the very least. I like Feist too, but considering Regina lived in New York City for a long time I'm inclined to go for her. And plus she's just much much cuter and I wish I was her man. :b And that pound the flesh song is fucking good. -
Wow Bishop. Most of my recordings sound like shit and I just live with it. I bet your recordings sound pretty good. I wish I could record something even close to what you probably have. If I win the lottery I will build my own recording studio. For now I have 2 mics set up on a couch plugged into my PC. Hell yeah!

I think Matt has said an acoustic tour for the new album would be pretty much impossible based on the arrangements he's planning. But you never know.
-
Oh. That stuff. Ok. I was thinking there was some kind of thing on youtube itself. Nevermind!
-
Yeah I also was sent a message on last.fm from "thevoid999" linking me to the matt good biography. I don't think it is coincidence that the videos went down after the rant (even if copyright violation was involved). And I had no idea you could download youtube videos. When the hell did that start?
-
Maybe the user is the person that wrote the biography? ;) Seemed a little weird that all that content came out of nowhere all of a sudden... Just crazy speculation on my part.
-
Haha, how very diplomatic of you.
-
Holy crap. excellent. Man he looks so different back then. The long hair!!! Who the hell is this void999 person? They sent me a private message on last.fm telling me I might be interested in a matt good bio like, last week. And they have footage of like, agoraphobe being finished. Who is this person???

Coldplay and Joe Satriani should get together and record one song together because the mash up of If I Could Fly and Viva La Vida is fucking incredibly awesome and I love it. Haha! If I Could Fly is actually my favorite Joe Satriani song, and I enjoy Viva La Vida as well. My take on all this is everyone is bound to steal from everyone else, or basically there's so much shit out there you can't help but find some (coincidental) overlap.

I know I've seen the second video, but not the first. The second is particularly humorous as I recall!
-
Even if it turned into some kind of archive I'd still consider it a success.
-
Geez, I'm starting to think I have time to make another contribution ;)
-
Strange Dave's are comin! is a great tagline.

Oh shit. When I was an intern they sent me up to 131st street on business. I could not find a cab anywhere. I can only imagine how much worse it is higher up. That sucks that you haven't gotten the CD yet though. Given any thought to showing up at their office and saying "Gimme my damn Matt Good fix!!!"

I've been to Toronto. I ate in that rotating restaurant in the CN Tower. Nothing like walking into a fancy restaurant in shorts and a t-shirt.
-
I still have yet to see him with a full band. I saw the Buffalo and NYC acoustic shows on the previous tour. Next time he tours with a full band I will make an effort to get somewhere - probably Buffalo again. I'd consider Toronto if it were possible.
-
Nice. I hope it doesn't fall through at the last minute.
-
Well I'm gonna assume it's in a nice padded envelope that'll stick out so it shouldn't make your search around the place too hard! I can't imagine that anywhere in the NYC area would be harder to ship to than any other, but you never know. If you lived on Staten Island I'd say they just didn't feel like going there...haha.

I believe the release date was the 4th. I expected to wait a week or two...cause that's how long it took for something to come from Maple Music the last time I ordered something from them. And I expected it to be longer because my CD was in Vancouver for a while... Anyway this CD is fucking awesome. I love it...I'm only up to Hello Time Bomb right now but it rocks.
-
Heh, well it did come today! A nice shiny signed copy! ;)
-
Goddammit this album is going to take forever to ship here >_<
