  1. Which is funny, cause who would ever think Matt would put out something so tacky, when all the shirts have been so wicked bomb so far.
  2. General Admission to the Plate, which includes concert, is only 15$. It's only expensive if you want a seat. And I use "expensive" pretty loosely cause it's still not too bad. Although I dunno why anyone would want a seat if GA is an option for the concert.
  3. But if you took away all the words, and it were just Matt and the rays, would you wear it then?
  4. It's gonna be Blake, Stu, and Bones with Matt again!
  5. yup. wow those complaints are brutal. i feel bad for all those people that did order through them. man.
  6. Last time I saw Matt at Bluesfest he wasn't the headliner though. He was on before Great Big Sea (not a fan). So I was surrounded by people there to see GBS which was disappointing, and a lot of them talked the whole time. I still had a great time though. Like I would definitely still go to Bluesfest if he was playing regardless of being the headliner or not, but it's more fun when everyone there with you is also excited to see the act that you're excited about. Plus Bluesfest has a lot of people that just go to the front for everything and try to get drum sticks, guitar picks and setlists to trade and sell. They're not even there to enjoy the band. Some lady went on and on about how she had never heard of MG and then screamed her face-off for the setlist at the end of the show. She got one and it was really annoying. I'd also be down to wait till fall and have Matt come to Folkfest (**again, cause he has been before and I was there). My ideal Folkfest includes Matt Good, Sarah Harmer, Kathleen Edwards and then also Neil Young since it got cancelled when he was scheduled for Folkfest.
  7. You can choose black too. And the CAD is at a recent high.
  8. Yeah! I saw that too. I'm camping in Sandbanks that weekend. So I'm trying to see if I can swing it. Hopefully that is the first of at least a few Summer Festival concert announcements! (#ottawa #ottawa #pleaseohpleaseottawa)
  9. So this showed up in my fb feed https://www.facebook.com/Matthew-Good-Fans-Club-798176340317120/?fref=nf&ft[tn]=kC&ft[qid]=6278605196518947614&ft[mf_story_key]=-8782605045114609125&ft[ei]=AQI0jvvkOQ0HyWqqhtwGM7Pi_oi3KyRL9yKMURGm02dahUNR_aMecRm_dRCtpPfpYW_znnsFTalV2i4_wC1nVWCQi3DjwEx0fryMBIL_cVb4cjJPUu0ntXlHR_-C3w2iSSe7vhh048lgQJY5NqIi9m7J8xbR0zi9ai9aVVFoUOSkNzoh2YQ0ntaeXKi1QamPhLQW_6L4Rlw9piWeoVscGqrLc93rbGD_xnBKX9TBuR3_6yU97v28baKHV_NY838NrW53lxmYbsiXJLNWWZQF9flUebr_97ghl1HMaKjinIVDtskTFH0gS4j4Ufo_qhYoPa0nmeh4Tf3DXVc9-LVGh_HlHKLrKyFruEfy6X0kVEOdD-5CkJSlz9Tubyzl_MVc1vbM6uNYu7wE39-bop1UAJXZ8Rd-wtKl2Lxi3-HgQIcfK_NGIVp5Y-8tF6R__mmqNBQgfmez9iKmMoXwe2RI8U63wIE6u5yWunRKCxgw28F0_a96HnNfbZ4pC4dA-q_T4Bf_H40ecqlBpnHpEmCigGpLbVjdDU_OERaKTsspIBoZvfK0OL-4z5qiI9E2VEAhDFheCueyihfzXMGHW-2iltkCuYjtS8LEdip-QovY05oiboOX0xXF3IvFRt1C6xbtQJVskUbdneRi6AZWpdnIsfI_fQY1jQp6NAMJ4cyp3pB-fDlWPjY8DQCyzlVAhWnywT4aNxEByhhpUEnWwv_wzIMoBmJwByMwItE2FFExL2bmjK8Y9L4Z2ELzdnm96cBc_reu7jm4RdouqtlDkcBvQHx0I6Qygk8izLH54xQ5g2D73fR63yCyKEz2YGmfbRIlPVAhZJi-uUgo7ad6ugOtWSD3G7LJYpGCbE8jpEbZLZ-gsa3_rFF-WQQrTQ1-qw_Y-Uu3TjuO5LPqX2d3VUz_1rNyGNvbzQPO_9mipiqI0_s2bGU2uNaXoiuQCLqxozQzH6pk2yHhX00FzhsF0pJq1R3sVTLEXBvjJCXlXkDYQYh6C4kNIO67pXrG9QsoOP_z9lxDNqYHY6-vnt9BNPvnD7hT7bf2rvI0iklHR13-k3OGsNtx-FCyyLSOTyhEzsUJrAMKvJ3i3z-xgbRjbQzlGLedTlXDkGajEQ_7Ir7lUTTgsy-jYWlobllvGF0heGwiPHaCvRWQZJptWKiaI6FXwDuj-m8WDRTmnQmn8BvUmVpkXqG0UxfEKDt-RyNKhL3Wa6SL4lnIxWJW4obvv7zspnv5mMIttRPT9rj3XUTZ0qlifCNPTA69hz6VM8Zh__WAcaVtg6TkBu0TGP07VWtHENEILfiTDYwrSJ9_jampk-BJKcpFc7pCf-fhiknGB152SMignAucjNl6TnttDTuBvg9bpLOkV9lBNBS6eL1hDXJ5XI2xPH0-QzxN-pJ79Oq-OjEZCGoyZkebzYlGaI--O7vlaOo2XUgLzGCBzpcGxnZyaLK5PKrzu_dB6oTPp-olJsPeSu3A1H8ARoXAOVNt7Z-wX0KIYv5-G6MN7LT46XOXGux0CBxxbIVji-qGJ2t_2aFGNKHnU_kfukOJwLy2LlsPuzBO2NIf0k8F9efKaqwnCVwyREYjz_3ieOTH_94Y3-gLG2JBkBpMmGcY5GPlqEKNNCieBjkptFyt4eLX4ZCMgxEfbEcgkUWlGxzMbXF9Y7RX547CJgySB2vUp2KoJ5RHaTdt42mT9O2y8xxUC42Ow2rG2VMGQSiGJ3kU_SLq2yWpc1t_rfOK60HyLIv0qtd8RbkVz11ZKQDeZq5vhMFFi8rKgqaS2ejKlMcifL9EoI5R_Bom2tBgMyLNQ7TI-A21iu298LbEYNCyPDL9pKXX_NHjXSJzTt0hVBgFVodLwNAcugZQNoZUmFvXMoaOVdk8LLTZTrRuQnC84pRNSEBEPt25_0wd04JkhgquFo__4JiV4nuX80M1w5LlxqL_10LzSL-0H3QP0oqgBbv6DwO1AZxQ-Oo7Y-T3jpY7auhjbtvEsqZ-4Qh-ACrHh37dhue_Eb8LFDnD7Or6Y4mIFbXFUZ8q-o0kWzpM1Iw2URjktUKLjoFt9MrfWxjpBOL3x1yL429qLYlSaTQypRqBQgE1SgxkNuITNEzp70MP2iUYOyxvZW8dlg8pMCHs7Mz4Pb_LxCs_LGoP_kEPaoQSeyLuO4NjPGkAuiFbmzh8nbKzOLEqoqaKseO3XMEVUBphys5mrUJtZkEtamZkXGylh-rjXYMyEXs9a3-JBETd58ZEO-GniDgSkD5QaSQWOsprpeDYpIcevii5yB4-U4GJYbfFEewFaY2cmqM0WDtW3d9ah-BpiHS5uLWdETETHDWrEjzNuwolxOl-gexkVr--pSZ6hnkwL7GZSeB82wLXUHinfuFkRcnq9KD62F3MarczQfXwb2wxb_IOIzq32ajkTqfKPaXOz8jcz38lwbd2TpHo3jsAFyNXwwpg2uF2KgYgW6ye5WVX94Ve9jYmNz_XToxoyoZWWkFm6WqEP-Ul6p1RVmbHcX6O7O8R2EV1iUOFSqzNA0C8yXAhs2LxqRhYXuBCay0kcS7qI36ZRsvl7JaU__sFcLfMkSFcTGAY-10QdbguVnvvfTbnwGP_d-1ZhgVbfyXmEpUuYZcQwR3-TYB8GJ7SbyMrjDu5CeOt9C7ZI1R61IxXe-UQ4XE8zhhI-lJyLMHCox2KJakN3RSeFb4HHbIERhZNrMwlSpQzetN6VNqYNUcI6oRnBNRNQS5r8Ud0mzbSb9foeZ_Va4_-gt4V_WJEe3wptMLlOKLwqDepPf6TrVLNcEGOydBUU4-BU8Zfz8xu57MpAF2qQY8oRaqY6xG0xSPVh_vgwbAX1B21tl2UIFH8lWl9wC2he5swj1XnubAUReYX-aOmceOYpjzkzr7xk8vG63MTpENUK4SGaxBQ0KhRWm_iJZ6fME0V_fSdbl__9l4CSYB8gA17Io5kVLRy9qkgP9oDG-0tY94_gKVwo8yOK14qRQsqA0wulVKPugb5vx-8ueSdjaMsK9wYDAaYVPbR4pnP7WI6IEpm4ohJjAAzgV1VfegzeWIJYUYSw_IPmXVNPe7430X_qPKtzWLrrKb1iqeHb45Ry2Japg20gLsXoqgMGwSrCHz-xmzqBVe8Tt7cVxkac73Qitzm4EPpIqlB4-9WL-FoaQ4iSaV_B8FnRPphtTetUfRzRQH79MkTgCEn39POTKoe6WT_5jNMI0SoxN5jPQblFFCV8oc1uIAEME0s1dbfxtQskljXH5x2hlwFSW1Yn5TL8BUzDoxu1tcfP57t5ycpvtc8UZpgNt6Kk7LdiI8mc7YpUBozHzZ9kZo3v0V-uxUpahWBXOlb8awDaLa_TsnXzDCWeVe8bnQElMhmpRGNH6k15PqEMflqjSFt4yW6juGUQWzWzGyGC-FlObgXF7HsjHZGefOvDbqF8eUo5een4NiEXclTlfVqSyNIOWKGgeJse2BJNfS34D6YSdS2IUzCZ9l4lvHxvwhBNRmHnv-SwxjE1Jx4jmX3b-6Efp_TLsnKr--3ALNM5B9DWrsw8vb9_jiDhNBv56knOYxWR1Y4YFT5PpxFAXjLgR7WL748A3CcLH0BK2BTRqxLisvI6or1X39aSJ3plMKyyF4lr0WsM2oOmpM_lw_AmajuTqxHh8Bae8YLParpzO4Wp0Vlvr-QmuBezPMjQPib7z89tSojDjfRx-HC1RU-teLKfjuM10VV3OpQBYhaPZWY_2dabFFVgfwBgJ-HJ-oWKYiuqqA2GtWpGxPZADxh-uHv8jxLnS1zgwkR1zwRnO8OVvwVRiZmMc7qp9xGsn8WEq3mTs8-rAM6g7inKjgobH1Q4aLNJ5e11UOHTtY0e8PhTkn0JwD8DA0AZYqpbMSXJ9fFtPXxP0FpUoz5a4hdOUCq-GFnaXF3U8nL1CBtJ896WzD4mAO435GqZqjGVUEWwWFachMPd6n5ZtuladsmKaeMrx3BJeALIdotkjSvg2TPM3uBR_NJSrSLQZHisx8GKwYEMeR0yQaZ6M0mCwAjP__C4M9nqc4U6r5P6hcrPb80xwb3xJNE_25W0_7FpkO7Y3nvguPCbDCjgj3xNuWhjYw21_5YjtjY7M_cuZSCyCXj69GLzlDYCt2bzRcp5U6bZW2ubcovqNofN6MSpKkDhwohAGDYIVXQI9RimI0VQPAvcYJ9HrKK9dgkf-PjEh4MBRNMdpo2Pdfk61kX19o05lQ9F9J9bblxmqwOaTaOJLUGIgQPl0sW0cuiJGYzvI1CwaWFcYj2rm1N-m_cgG0F4sIN_53iDQwiOQgBKJs&ft[fbfeed_location]=1&ft[insertion_position]=1&__md__=1 So yeah one of those "promoted" pages. 27 people liked the page. It was created like 3 days ago. The page basically exists only to sell this shirt. Kinda sketch. Also I don't like slogan-y or "saying" shirts. However they used a good pic of Matt. So if you enjoy unauthorized merchandise in the style of those Keep Calm and whatever shirts, this isn't that bad. According to the page. It is "only available for 7 days". Will you actually get a shirt if you buy it? I don't know. https://teechip.com/matthew-good Good ole' targeted merch advertising.
  10. I've never been a fan of Takamine. Although, I've only played a few. Various friends have them, and I've played them at open mics, and while my guitar was being fixed I had a rental for a month. Was very glad to get my own guitar back, I hated that rental. Two of my buddies have Seagull guitars though and they're great. They sound fantastic and look great too. Although, it's true. Generally I'd say any guitar sounds better broken in. I HATE when I put new strings on. So tinny. So twangy. bleh. I like the rustic charm of a broken in guitar lol
  11. Yeah!! I saw that one twitter and thought it was really well matched and well done!
  12. It seems so long ago. I'm really glad that Canada had so much great music going on right around the time I started to become musically aware as a kid. A different wave of it, but Canada's got quite a bit going on for it again in the music scene. A lot of the acts featured at the Junos, as well as the artists that won are getting a good amount of airplay. A lot of artists that people might not even know we're Canadian just based upon the degree of success they're achieving (as generally the assumption is Canadian artists don't "hit it big"). Like its a different generation of artists and a different vibe but Canada (imo) is back. Canada's on the map.
  13. http://m.music.cbc.ca/blogs/2016/4/Whatever-happened-to-the-Canrock-revolution This was in my fb feed today from CBC.
  14. I also like that you can rent most (not all, I'm looking at you Taylor 710ce) guitars to try out before you buy it. I can't imagine buying a guitar for more than even 600$ without knowing if I like it yet, how it plays etc. Especially once you get up past 1000$.
  15. I haven't been able to find MG footage anywhere. Would love to get to see/hear his Tragically Hip cover. Also I think the backing band was kind of shared cause they appeared to be playing with a couple other artists. Also Bonesy was there too.
  16. Agreed. I was really really crushed when We Have Done This Before didn't make it. I've played it on YouTube probably at least 100 times
  17. Fingers crossed on Night Orders too
  18. I mean Bieber's acceptance "speech" video got boo'd. He barely took the time to make it and clearly didn't care while he did. So maybe that was a knock at him. All the other up and comers seemed pretty gracious, so I couldn't see it being them. But who knows, other than Scott Helman I don't have a lot of exposure to them. But Scott was super nice every time I met him and seemed pretty darn humbled, awed and greatful during the tour experience so..
  19. http://junoawards.ca/juno-tv/ For the red carpet video skip to 1:57:48
  20. On another related note, Ottawa is hosting the Junos in 2017. Fingers crossed for some similar events for me to go to, and of course that Matt will have a new album nominated then too. Also, my spin studio is doing a can-con Junos playlist for me today (so stoked) so I'm just chilling in the coffee shop next door till class at 9:30. Ready to hear some MG and some Scott Helman and Drake and Biebs and other nominees Also just wondering, what's the rules for nominations? I'm just wondering because Matt's album came out September of 2015, but Death From Above 1979's came out September of 2014? So like would Matt's potentially be up next year too? Cause it hasn't been out as long. Like it makes sense I guess because if you're album comes out in September there's not too much of that year left.
  21. I got a new computer in September because my old laptop died, so the counts are all pretty modest again. Also my darn iPhone keeps resetting itself. But on my old iPod Born Losers was at 684. And Arrows of Desire was at 1211 on my old laptop before it died (but I think a glitch must've happened cause that is *so* high. It was like that 3 weeks after the album came out soooo). Suburbia was somewhere in the 300s. Guns of Carolina was about 200. those are the only ones I can specifically remember though #RIPlaptop2015
  22. Okay so Matt did play Ahead by a Century at the Google Play Music party. But where do we find it?!?! Praying for video footage lol. Damn Calgary why are you so far away.
  23. I saw it from th App, so I think it's posted in the news section of his website too. In addition: Kathleen Edwards Sarah Harmer Pilate/Pilot Speed City and Colour
  24. Fresh from MG: "Celebrating The Next Generation Wednesday March 30, 2016 Art is subjective. Everyone has an opinion as to what they deem good or great or terrible. I have always been of the opinion that one wouldn’t take Francis Bacon and Mark Rothko and choose between them with regards to giving either an award. I guess I’ve always felt the same way about music. Music is the most universal of human gifts. It is unmatched in our collective experience as a species, a bridge that gaps untold rifts that would otherwise never be bridged. Having said that, my views with regards to its transformation into a contest have long been known. Obviously, given that, some have asked why I’m attending the Junos this year and participating in some of its events after years of refraining. The answer to that question is actually very simple. Given the state of the industry I think that now is a very crucial time to show support for a new generation of Canadian artists that must deal with both a vastly expedited process of creative growth and the ever changing landscape of how music is made, promoted, and consumed. More than anything, my presence, though slight in the grand scheme of it all, represents my belief in the ability of many of them to have substantial careers, to be able to make music for decades in their own country, and to celebrate the fact that we, as Canadian artists, should never view ourselves as anything less simply because we are Canadian artists. Having had Scott Helman open for me on my last tour, the realization of what young artists now face in this current climate is something that has impacted me. Scott worked tirelessly on the tour, something that was not lost on the group of individuals he was opening for, all of which have been performing and making records since before he was born. Be it myself or Bones Hillman, who spent years with Midnight Oil, we all gave credit where it was due. Somewhere out there is the next Joni Mitchell, the next Tragically Hip, the next Oscar Peterson, the next Wilf Carter. The obstacles they will face - if they are not deterred by them - are ones that I cannot even fathom. That said, celebrating their accomplishments is, for me, what is most important, no matter who wins or loses. As far as my nomination goes - Death From Above is my pick. Hehe."
  25. I wear my various Matt Good tees at Bridgehead all the time. Couple customers have commented on them in the past, but now our new aprons cover our shirts. I got to play chaotic neutral at work a couple times and one customer was like "hey! Is that the new Matt Good?" when I served him coffee. At an open mic I played, I did my crowd pleasing "medley" which consists of 7 minutes of various popular radio and hip hop tunes etc over the same 4 chords. Gets eaten up everytime. People always come up to me after to comment on it and what not, but last time I played it afterwards a guy came up to me and was like "hey, that medley was great- however- I never thought I would get to hear Suburbia at an open mic. That's my favourite Matthew Good song. Thanks for playing that." Blew me away. Never thought Suburbia, my favourite MG tune would outshine the people pleasing medley. That made me so happy.
