but a lot of people do get their news from TV evening news. They don't have time to sit and read a paper (even in the paper its not always front-page news). So the point is that a lot of people don't know about this shit, or at least know very little about it. I watch a lot of TV news, and we also get the newspaper at my house. I skim the paper and will read a front-page article if it catches my eye, and also read all the headlines at the top. From all this, all i've learned is that i'm aware thats there's atrocious genocide happening in the Congo, but thats about all i know about it. I'm definately not alone on that. Also, in order to google something you have to know what you're looking for. Yeah its being covered by media, but i don't know how many people type in "african genocide" when they bring up google.

Speculation a few weeks ago before the Liberal convention was that the Liberals might have called another election soon so that they could gain a majority gov't. those rumors turned out false of course. The anger over the sponsership scandal & Dalton McGuinty has died down a bit so i think the Libs would likely get a majority.

The part i don't like about the law is that a 40 year-old man can legally have sex with a 14-year old. I don't really care if a 14 year old has sex with another 14 year old. I just think its morally wrong to allow an adult to have sex with a 14 year old. If i had a 14 year old daughter & she had consensual sex with a 50 year old man, there's nothing i could do about it. If i had a 14 year old boy & he had consensual sex with a 50 year-old man there's nothing i could do about it. Personally, i find that disgusting. Can't drive until 16. Can't smoke until 18 or whatever. Can't drink a beer until 19 (or whatever it is in your Province). But you can have sex with an adult at 14? Illogical. Teenagers have sex w/ each other all the time, i'm not worried about that. Its about protecting the younger teens from adults who can take advantage of them.
