  1. calgarydave, i love you. I agree. Trudeau got the ball rolling bigtime. He turned Canada into the social-program-loving nation it is today (for better & worse). And of course all these changes cost money...money we obviously didn't have. Debt is stupid. I believe in not spending money unless you have it, except in cases of emergency or extreme need.
  2. A few days ago this man who lives down my street rang my doorbell. I answered, and he said "This is a petition opposing gay marriage. Would you like to sign it?" I said "no thank you", and he politely left. I was thinking "whoa WTF", but gotta give him some props for having the balls to ring on doorbells & ask such a controversial question. Has anyone else experienced stuff like this lately, or in the past? Can't say i've ever been asked to sign a petition on such a controversial subject before. But with all this talk of gay marriage lately i wasn't too suprised.
  3. exactly. It wasn't just WHAT Moore said in 9/11, its how he said it. His narration was kinda low-blow and slimebally to me. I rolled my eyes a lot when i watched it. If you want people to think you are saying the truth, you have to come across more objective. personally i have no idea what is true and what is false in Moore's movie. Its just propaganda to me, unless i do more of my own research to find out what is actually true/false in the movie.
  4. the thing that sucks most of all is the fact they made a video out of Rico. lots o better songs on that album. p.s. yes i know i suck
  5. Rico sucks. makes me want to inflict wounds into my body. Not as bad as Casual Walks though
  6. if she ever gets that spine, i'd fuck it. Actually i hope she doesn't get a spine cuz it makes her more flexible in the sack without one. BELINDA STRONACH IS THE ONLY POLITICIAN IN THE HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION THAT I WANT TO FUCK. (ok maybe Cleopatra if she was hot. was she tecnhically a politician?)
  7. the fact that this shit is going on, and people in Africa etc. are starving to death and living like crap just makes me sick.
  8. yeah, his bias is huge. I find the guy entertaining, but i don't think i'd spend the time to read a book of his. I wouldn;t know whats truth and what's nonsense. I'd rather spend my time filling my mind with something i'd know to be more credible on the truth. There's so much i don't know about history, the world, the arts, the universe etc. that i want to learn and i only have a human lifetime to cram as much of that shit into my head as possible. Might as well choose the really good stuff...
  9. i know i'm an idiot. Watchmen is considered by friggin everyone to be the best comic story of all-time. But that big Watchmen book just sits there, because i know i'll need to stamp out at least a week or 2 to sit and read it. I don't want to start it, then stop and not pick it up for another 3 months and then have to start over again. ahhhhh anyways, Yoda should kick Wolverine's ass because he's got the Force. Here's a good question: Can a lightsaber slice through adamantium?
  10. i read stuff by Morrison once. I think it was during his run on JLA. I wasn't impressed. Very confusing and convoluted writing. But maybe one day i'll check it out. I'll try any comic once. Its just a matter of prioritizing what i do want to read because there's just so much great stuff out there. Like i said, i haven't even read my Watchmen TPB yet! (i bought it like 2-3 years ago). shame on me. ;)
  11. i'm Left/Libertarian: Economic Left/Right: -4.63 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.33 I'm pretty close to where Ghandi and Nelson Mandela are, though a tad more to the right.
  12. Do you think Stronach will eventually lead the Conservative party? I don't think Harper will be able to keep his job of leader if he loses another election. i hope so. she's really hot. And thats all that matters in a politician. I think Belinda is the 1st politician in the history of the univervse that i've ever been attracted too. another note: i think it was a huge mistake, looking back, at putting Harper in as 1st leader of the Conservative Party. It really made it look like an "Alliance Takeover". And i am not a super conservative-type person or loyal tory supporter. But i do think the Liberals go over the line too often towards the left, plus some of the many other borderline-corrupt policies they've put in place....so i think 4-5 years of conservatism would be good to clean up the country at bit & balance things out. Plus there is just nobody else really to vote for. ;)
  13. Haven't read Grant Morrison's X-Men run. I may have a few of the early ones, but probably not. Actually i hate the X-Men books now (Ultimate X-Men is cool though). Claremont comes back all the time and he is just horrible now. Then they killed Colossus (what the FUCK?!?!??). Then they changed all the costumes, and Beast is a cat etc. etc. The 2 main X-men books have been screwed up for years and years. If they're gonna do a Watchmen movie, they'd have to do it like "Sin City" and let Alan Moore have tons of control. And if he's not involved in the propject then i wouldn't do it. Actually i think it would be cool if they did some hardcore classically animated full-length comic films. Imagine a "Watchmen" animated movie done kick-ass and in the Dave Gibbons art style. Or a Dark Knight Returns movie in Frank Miller style?
  14. I was watching Global News tonight, and they had some polls up. But they also mentioned that these poll results were similar to what they were before the last election. So don't get your hopes up too high there in Calgary, Dave. p.s. Bizud, i think the Liberals are more left-of-centre than centre. At least in how they govern.
  15. This gov't simply should not exist anymore. But i have serious doubts Harper can ever win a federal election. People seem to rather have the gov't steal their money than their civil liberties (gay marriage, abortion, war , missle defense etc). But i'm so desperate to get rid of the Liberals that i'd vote every week in an election if i had to.
  16. death penalty for a mentally handi-capped person just seems so wrong for me. yuck.
  17. She's Got a New Disguise is good one. Vermillion also i think is a love song. Also one of my faves, Fearless: "In the end there will be fire and brimstone and no one will be there to answer the telephone you are the only one I'll miss you are the only answer at a time like this she is he trick of my trade she is the thing that can't be made she is gold and nothing less and she is fearless so hold me up, we're going out and don't wait up, we won't be coming home..."
  18. From Hell. League of Extrodinary Gentlemen. Watchmen may only be a matter of time. But maybe hollywood has learned its lesson on Moore movies already. Actually i heard 'From Hell' wasn't a bad flick, but i haven't seen it. I actually own "The Watchmen" TPB, but haven't read it yet. I started collecting comics around 1990 when i was 10. I quit around 1994 when my local comicshop closed down. I started reading/collecting again around 1998, but have barely picked up a comic in the last few years. My fav comics are Darkhawk, Moon Knight, 1970's Ghost Rider, Kurt Busiek-era Avengers, Swamp Thing (Alan Moore), Sandman, early Claremont Uncanny X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, some 80's Batman, and basically anything Marvel from the 70's-early 80's.
  19. It used to be Craig Kilborn. Now its probably that guy who sits across from Tucker Carlson on "Crossfire".
  20. is it on video, or in theatres?
  21. does all political debate begin and end with missle defense?
  22. they threw a wrench. LOL thats so fucking funny and crazy. And these people who threw shoes, what did they walk home wearing? lol omg Sex, Drugs, Rock n Roll, and Public Peltings. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
  23. Yes Harper is scary. Yes the NDP are scary in the exact opposite kind of way. Canadian democracy sucks right now. I hope the Conservatives get rid of Harper and find someone more towards the center. Liberals = New York Yankees? The Evil Empire? ;)
  24. I'll give bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana etc. their props for being influencial and popular in the 90's, even though they aren't my thing. My personal list: -Beastie Boys -Metallica -Oasis (yeah they are lame now, but everything until after Whats the Story Morning Glory was amazing) -Red Hot Chilli Peppers -the Tragically Hip -Offspring (the early stuff) -R.E.M. (fucking RULED the 90s' w/ 'Monster', 'Out of Time', 'Automatic for the People' etc.) -Smashing Pumpkins -Bush (corny now when you listen, but ruled the day) -Live (corny now, but were ok back then) -Guns n Roses -Green Day -Rage Against the Machine -Beck -Stone Temple Pilots -Aerosmith -Radiohead -Dave Matthews Band -Ozzy Osbourne (i'm sorry, i liked some of his 90's stuff) -Hanson (just kidding) -NIN -U2 (most good shit was in the 80's though) don't know if these are considered 'bands', but i'd add The Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk. And stuff like NWA, Dr Dre, and Snoop.
  25. Well, frontpage news all over the country has the Liberals completely ripping us Canadians off again and stealing our money for their own corrupt purposes. And yet people still vote for these fucking cunt-wads. I'd vote anybody before these morons. When are we going to make these bastards accountable???
