  1. I liked The Spades. Don't know if they're still around. I also bought Dala's CD. That was the first MG show I had been to. Not a fan of Daniel Wesley or Mother Mother. When did they open for MG? I've seen them play with The Reason. I thought they had a cool sound too.
  2. That's an awesome care package! MG's team seems to be stepping it up lately.
  3. Just finished the main story of Syndicate. It's a great game. I would definitely recommend it if you've liked the franchise in the past. It's too bad that they'll apparently be taking a year off from the series, and not release a new game in 2016. Hopefully it will give them more time to perfect the next title.
  4. It's annoying that radio stations have their own corporate agendas, and typically don't play new music unless it's from a major group. It's a great song, and it should be played for everyone to enjoy.
  5. Sorry, I should have included that I do whenever I can. But I can't justify bumping up my data plan to do it all the time.
  6. I meant that they don't seem to love him. They just don't typically play his music. When they do, it's always from the MGB days. The one big morning guy went on a rant quite a few years ago about how Matt was rude to him when doing an interview, so I think he doesn't have a lot of love for him. But they're not all like that. The woman who does the afternoon show on FM96 was standing right next to us for his show here. I might be biased because they play the same shitty music over and over again, and I'm too far away from Toronto to get The Edge.
  7. Explosions In The Sky finally have a new record coming out. Details: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/explosions-in-the-sky-return-with-new-lp-the-wilderness-20160111
  8. It's been on the radio up here, especially around his show date. Don't think I've heard it since then, but the local radio station here are MG snobs for the most part.
  9. From the post on his website: Available January 15th at select music retailers. Ask your local record shop for more information. I don't know if that means widespread release, or just certain record stores. It's pretty vague. I'm trying to decide if I want to part with the money. Hospital Music would look pretty good framed.
  10. As an ex-smoker, I will only say that you have to quit when you want to. People telling you to quit often has the opposite effect. There is no denying that your health will suffer from smoking, but pretty much anything anymore will affect your life negatively. I'm just amazed at people who sing professionally and smoke too. I can't imagine the effect it would have on your voice.
  11. I can't really say that there's a song that I dislike, but there are some that I skip over when I'm shuffling.
  12. Every song from that album must be a single by now, right? She's a machine. I don't hate her music. I wouldn't buy the album, but I don't change the radio station if something of hers comes on.
  13. I think mine is still Non Populus.
  14. Thank you Matt for a great record and a great tour. I'm looking forward to taking my kids back to Disney World again this year. It's pretty awesome to do with kids. Also, I would definitely pay $100+ to see any of the shows that you've described.
  15. I enjoyed the movie. I wouldn't say it was perfect. There were a few flaws, but I agree that it's better than the prequels.
  16. These ads creep me out. I know they're just using your browser history to populate your feed with ads that you'd find relevant, but it's still weird. I was looking at buying glasses online, and now all I see everywhere is ads for clearly.ca. Targeted advertising at its best.
  17. Something similar keeps popping up on my Facebook feed, except it's a hoodie. It has the same saying though. Let us know how it turns out!
  18. I've been through Gravenhurst a few times on the way to a cottage up there. It's definitely a rich area. That's right in the heart of Muskoka cottage country. Places up there go for over seven figures. People in the area would pay that ticket price. Plus, it's an intimate place, so you're paying for a pretty good experience. I can't imagine going through some of the roads up there on a bus. The roads are crazy up there, especially this time of year, if it wasn't 8 degrees here. It's made me nervous driving up there, just in a car.
  19. Setlist - St. Catherine's 12/16/15 Sons & Daughters No Liars Single Explosion Born Losers Army of Lions Cold Water Everything is Automatic Alert Status Red Harridan Load Carmelina Up Los Alamos Apparitions Weapon Tiger By The Tail Giant Girls in Black Another night, another solid setlist. Tiger by the Tail is definitely one from the new album that I wish I had seen live.
  20. You grabbed one? Nice. We waited around until the end, when they were tearing down, but there were a group of people hanging out who had been closer, so I figured I didn't have a chance. I grabbed the blue Chaotic Neutral t shirt. Looks pretty good.
  21. Setlist - London - 12/15/15 London Music Hall Load Carmelina Up Sons & Daughters No Liars Cold Water Army of Lions Everything is Automatic Alert Status Red A Single Explosion Born Losers Kid Down the Well Los Alamos Apparitions Weapon Cloudbusting Advertising on Police Cars Hello Time Bomb Giant Man, what a show. It had been four years since he had been back, and last night made me miss him more than I thought. No offence to other versions of his touring band, but I think this was the tightest they've ever sounded behind him. Stu is incredible, and Bones was entertaining. It would have been nice to have Anthony and some keyboard, but it was a solid rock show. Matt seemed to be in a pretty good mood. He commented on how this venue sounded way better to him just being on stage than the venue they've used in the past. He talked about going into the crowd, because he doesn't know what else to do on stage with a microphone in his hand, but it was too gymnastic to do it tonight. He sat down on the stage right in front to sing part of Army of Lions. There was an "energetic" woman right front and centre who was jumping around the whole show. He sat down right in front of her and she proceeded to try to grope him a few times, from what I could tell. He didn't seem pissed off though. We were standing in front of Bones, a couple of rows back. Everything sounded great. This new record translates well live. We got to see Explosion, Carmelina and Advertising. Pretty good considering. Emmitt got me hyped up for Champions, but it didn't happen. It's all good though. The only downside of seeing him in a club, which I hadn't before tonight, was drunk people. I had one guy who was pretty hammered by the end of the show swaying into me constantly. There were people complaining behind me that he wasn't playing enough rock songs for some reason. But people were decent for the most part. Overall, I really enjoyed the show. Thanks Matt for the record and the show tonight.
  22. Following you now. My hopes are high for tonight's show. He missed the London date last tour due to illness so it's been awhile since I've seen him. From the videos everyone has shared, it sounds like the band is playing really well together. Should be a good show. Wish I wasn't working and was able to do the tour challenge this morning.
  23. See you in London!! Nickel Brook is pretty good. Never been to the brewery but their beer is pretty good. http://www.nickelbrook.com/ They're in Burlington though, so easier than going to Steamwhistle. From what I've heard though, the Steamwhistle tour is great.
  24. That's an awesome experience, to hang out with the band after. Drunk people at club show suck. At least there was a silver lining last night.
  25. There's a big section of people that listen to cassettes: prisoners. Alan Cross did a thing on his Geeks & Beats podcast about it. Apparently sales are still decent for them because of inmates in prisons. It's the only media that they're allowed to have, as CDs can be broken and made into weapons. So record labels still put out releases on tape. It's pretty funny. I remember quite fondly making mix tapes, and trying to get that one song you really liked on the radio down on tape. Good times.
