Az probably won't get that reference. Though it is a good one.

Makes reference to Joltin' Joe

See, that's the thing, garsk. I think Geek fits most of us better than Nerd. Oh, and tell that clown you live with to get me my DVDs before I start firing rabid lemmings at him, out of my air cannon, from the theatre parking lot.

Could be that the .THM is redirecting to an .AVI somewhere else? I dunno...like I said, I've never worked with .THM files.
-
According to fileext.com, THM files can be: Olympus Digital Image Thumbnail Clipart Gallery Database Canon G3 Digital Camera Thumbnail OpenOffice.org 1.1.x Configuration File Serif DrawPlus Theme Sony Ericsson Theme File Thumbnail Bitmap Image Video Thumbnail File ...Doesn't sound like you've got a video there. What's the file size?
-
Now that you mention it, my camera does generate .THMs to go with the .AVI video files. I just disregarded them assuming they were the thumbnail for the camera's navigation system. Apparently I was right.
-
Can't say I've used .thm, but with my version it goes basically as follows, once you've opened the file in VirtualDub. Under Video, click Compression... to choose your compression type. Then under File, click Save as AVI... to convert and compress. It may take some playing around or a more knowledgable user to tell you. I hadn't used it until a few weeks ago, and I'm kinda self-taught. Flying blind, you might say.

What's the format now? Size? I use a free program called VirtualDub to re-encode my monstrously huge uncompressed .avi files to DivX .avi

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing. Kirby for the win.

He totally knows everyone. You've all met him, you just don't know it yet. We need an option for "unwilling, intellectually predatorial geek-loser with a number of redeeming but strangely understated qualities and a penchant for irrational grudges".
-
I'd say more of an involountary geek-loser.

You want old school? I used to rock the Commodore 64. Which, in retrospect, is probably why I ended up as a PC gamer.
-
Well that was predictable. As far as consoles go, I don't have one. Nor have I since the original GameBoy.
-
Well, he told me that the PS3 (20 GB) was going for the equivant of about $1000 CAD at a place called Toy Kingdom. Double that for the 60 GB. Wii for about $800 CAD.
-
Yes, I suspect that they are PAL. He told me how much they cost in pesos, and it was a ridiculously high number. But I don't know the exchange rate, so it's meaningless.
-
There are Wiis in the Phillipines according to some guy I know there. But apparently no one can afford them.
-
Yep, Supercanuk got a PS3 post-christmas, last in the store. But we've been out looking for a 2nd controller without success.

Same thing happened with the decapitation videos a while back. There's beena whole "faces of death" series on the internet for a long time. Nasty stuff, I'm told.

It's like getting John Gotti for tax evasion. It has to be something you can prove, somehow.
