Yeah I can see what you mean by some of the quiet parts, they could be louder, but I've got no complaints.
-
You are awesome. Thank you so much. From the couple minutes I've heard so far the audio is plenty fine for me.
-
Awesome, I was hoping for some nice recordings of this tour, especially the new/rare songs. How is the quality?
-
I recently added We Are A Place to Youtube if anyone who hasn't heard it is interested. Maybe I should put the other on as well?
-
Not that it matters, but I believe the last demo he did of Hornets was shorter and more upbeat. Is that the one you like better?

Nice to see you on the board AllThatMakesUsHuman. Welcome. Yeah this is probably my least favourite MG album but I've just been getting into it more lately for some reason. I've also really been getting into some of the old demos again. Bimbly: The bass follows the rest of the music more I think on Beautiful Midnight.

It's really hard to do a top three for this album but this is what I pick at the moment: 1. The Ocean 2. Endsong 3. Last of the Ghetto Astronauts Man, the music is pretty awesome on 15 Hours, I like how there's more extended musical sections. I love the bass on here, some really cool bass lines.

Yes! I listened to 15 Hours on a September Thursday on a September Thursday! As if it's some sort of accomplishment, hahaha. Speaking of bass and this demo, it perhaps stands out even more than the bass on LOTGA. Ariel Watson played bass on it. I wonder what happened to him/her?

Does anyone know who sings with Matt in this song? I recall thinking of this song as boring but lately I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
-
Geoff Lloyd probably was the most interesting bass player Matt had and the organ is pretty awesome in The War is Over.

Teaser 1 Does anyone know exactly what this audio clip is of or from? I have it in my Matthew Good folder and it's called Teaser 1 but I am not sure where I got it or what it's from. Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Favourite Matt Good Exclamations During A Song
Manchalivin replied to Devil On Rollerskates's topic in Matthew Good
Even though I believe it is part of the lyrics, I like the part where Matt shouts "well!" at about 3:19 in on She's Got A New Disguise. -
I had to check if my head was screwed on right last night. This is the one album of his I usually find quite bland and can't really get into at all (except for a couple standouts) but last night I was quite enjoying most songs (even Radio Bomb) and even listened to the album twice. Maybe it was because I haven't listened to it in a long while but who woulda thunk it. Perhaps my tastes have changed to fit this album more or I was just in the right mood for it. Hearing She's Got a New Disguise on youtube is what got me in the mood to listen to it again, I forgot how good that song is. Fearless and The War is Over are really good as well. On an unrelated note, I thought of listening to 15 Hours on a September Thursday this Thursday as it's the last Thursday left in September so I could actually listen to 15 Hours on a September Thursday on a September Thursday. Anyone else with me?

1. Zero Orchestra 2. What If I Can't See the Stars Mildred? 3. Non Populus 4. The Boy Who Could Explode 5. Blue Skies Over Bad Lands 6. Black Helicopter 7. Odette 8. Avalanche 9. Weapon 10. I'm A Window 11. Apparitions 12. Shallow's Low 13. While We Were Hunting Rabbits 14. Bright End of Nowhere 15. Suburbia 16. Prime Time Deliverance Some of that was very tough to choose between. There were various factors that went into picking those, they aren't all necessarily my favourite 16 songs out of the 43.

Cold Harbour? (lights Of Endangered Species Megathread!)
Manchalivin replied to Who's topic in Matthew Good
I just saw an ad on tv for LOES. That was different. Also, has Zero Orchestra played on any of your local radio stations? I just saw it played on London's FM96 and it's kind of exciting to see such a song play on rock radio. -

Shallow's Low the weakest? Screw that, it's the best. To each their own though. ;) Your ranking of the solo albums is probably similar to mine. Right now I'd say Avalanche, LOES, Hospital, WLRRR, Vancouver. -
These aren't all necessarily my most personal favourite Matthew Good songs, but possibly also ones I feel fit the 'masterpieces' title because of certain special qualities. -The Ocean -Apparitions -Prime Time Deliverance -Change of Season -Fated -Born to Kill -Suburbia -I Miss New Wave -Strange Days -A Boy and His Machine Gun -Failing the Rorshach Test -Truffle Pigs -The Rat Who Would Be King -Weapon -Avalanche -While We Were Hunting Rabbits -House of Smoke and Mirrors -Blue Skies Over Badlands -Born Losers -A Single Explosion -Black Helicopter -The Boy Who Could Explode -Shallow's Low -Zero Orchestra -Non Populus -What If I Can't See The Stars Mildred? -Lights of Endangered Species -The Fine Art of Falling Apart -Dusk

Cold Harbour? (lights Of Endangered Species Megathread!)
Manchalivin replied to Who's topic in Matthew Good
I think it doesn't need to be as long as it is. A couple songs could be cut in my opinion (like Song For The Girl, Pledge of Allegiance, 21st Century Living) even though they're decent songs, but it wouldn't break my heart if they weren't there. Other than that though I think the album is pretty much gold. MG's triple three - Beautiful Midnight>Avalanche>Underdogs -
Happy 40th Matthew Good.

Cold Harbour? (lights Of Endangered Species Megathread!)
Manchalivin replied to Who's topic in Matthew Good
I did say arguably. Avalanche and Beautiful Midnight are probably my favourite albums by him and this album likely won't surpass them but it's possible it could tie them. It's a ways away for that though. I've come to really appreciate Hospital Music and it might be one of Matt's best solo albums. LOES has some of his most creative and inspired music though. I am sure of that. -
Fucked Up

Yeah I know. It's just that LOES is so good. ;) Anyway, I agree with Gomo. The vocals immediately turn me off. It's something I've heard all too many times before. The music is kind of catchy but I don't hear anything special or that really grabs me in that song. -

It's pretty good when you can still be amazed and hear new things after several listens. I think this album really has some of MG's very best music. It pretty much has it all. He took everything he's done, perfected the shit out of it, and did a very fine job of adding plenty of new things. Not just instrumentally, but stylistically and structurally. I think this has a great balance and he ordered the songs very well. Shallow's Low is definitely my favourite song right now and I am especially getting into How It Goes and Extraordinary Fades lately. EF is a freaking cool, unique, awesomely subtle song for him. I mean, NINE ALBUMS in and he comes out with something like this? Arguably the most creative and inspired album of his career. Now there is a true artist who knows music and is passionate about his craft.
