  1. I recently bought "discovered covered" which is a tribute to Daniel Johnston, with one CD of original stuff and one CD of covers from various artists. Some highlights include: Don't let the sun go down on your grievance - Clem Snide Living Life - Eels Walking the Cow - TV on the Radio Dream Scream - Deathcab for Cutie Go - Sparklehorse and the Flaming Lips Like a Monkey in a Zoo - Vic Chesnutt Actually, the whole thing is amazing but those I found were my favourite covers anyway. Beck covers "True Love Will Find You in the End" but it feels flat to me (not pitch, just emotionally)... although I like the harmonica.
  2. LOTGA: fearless Ray Gun: Generation X-Wing Underdogs: The Inescapable Us Lo Fi B-Sides: Fated Beautiful Midnight: Suburbia/I Miss New Wave Loser Anthems: The Fine Art of Falling Apart The Audio of Being: Whole album Avalanche: Avalanche WLR&RR: We're So Heavy Hospital Music: 99% of us is Failure
  3. I'm interested too. So we just make a CD with a mix of our favourite stuff on it?
  4. no one's mentioned the shins yet, so I guess I will. My list may seem limited but I only really listen to music that I buy (and I dont really buy a lot of albums due to the lack of a little thing called money), so I'm going from that: The Shins - WIncing the Night Away Modest Mouse - We Were Dead Before the Ship Ever Sank The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Radiohead - In Rainbows The White Stripes - Icky Thump Matthew Good - Hospital Music
  5. That sounds cool....although ep's are usually short right? I can't see there being much more than 6 or 7 songs on it (unless its a misconception that ep's are short). This would be cool: Breath of a Nation Can't Get Shot in the Back... If I Was a Tidal Wave Keira-Anne Silent army in the trees/Black Helicopter [LIVE] Pledge of Allegiance [LIVE] Suburbia [LIVE] Although I think it would be much cooler if he just played a concert with all the unreleased stuff in it and release that. That way all the cool accoustic versions of songs (and maybe some covers) could be played too...and it would be like two full cd's. Where's the down side?
  6. I would imagine that he was talking about Pat Stewart in the weapon vid.... but i haven't read the letter so I don't know the content. On another note of things that Matt brings up often in his songs...animals: Rat mouse birds monkey etc sorry, a meaningless distraction
  7. hey, I like amnesiac! I know what you mean though, it seems like people dislike it for the most part. For me its probably: Ok Computer Amnesiac Kid A The Bends Hail to the Thief Pablo Honey Too hard to say where the new one fits yet, but it's very strong in my opinion. I almost peed myself with the "that muse album" addition, that was brilliant... Although I have to give them props on their latest album because it doesn't sound like a Radiohead cover band, and they have a couple of decent original tracks on it (Knights of Cydonia rocks). But lets stay on topic....
  8. ha, I guess i just assumed that there was only one closed campus event, and that the one I mentioned just happened...way to make me look like a dumb-ass ;) . Anyways, I'm surprised that the set-lists haven't been coming up as quick and frequent as previous tours. They're kind of meandering in.
  9. apparently it was a gong show, check out his site for an article about how disrespectful some of the crowd was, ruining the show for the rest of the crowd and prompting matt to make some jabbing remarks
  10. there's a 75 cent transaction fee on top of whatever you decided to pay....so it'll end up costing you about a dollar.
  11. you have to put the amount you want it for, then press update cart before you can press the purchase button....it took me a couple minutes to figure this out...and yes, i did get a confirmation email
  12. man, if you're still distributing the bootleg would you mind shipping one to me? I went to the show in Van and it rocked! Thanks. Later
  13. This is exactly right. Dala started at 7:30ish and ended at 8ish. MG didnt get on stage until 8:30ish, I remember because I was watching my phone the whole time (waiting for a phone call before the show started). By my recollection he played for about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Still a wicked show though. Although overall I think I enjoyed last years accoustic show better, just better song selection in my opinion. Then again, last year I was also right in front of him in the first row so maybe I cant make a proper judgement on it. Lastly, is it just me or does the merch kinda suck this tour? I'm kicking myslf for not buying a shirt last year.
  14. i'll probably miss a couple, but i'll do my best: 1.) Cant get shot 2.) If I was A Tidal Wave 3.) Breath of a Nation 4.) Keira-ann (spelling?) 5.) Annabelle 6.) Dusk 7.) Comfortable Criminals 8.) All Together 9.) free download 10.) Agoraphobe 11.) 4 minute mile (only live) 12.) bon tempo tracks (they all suck, except maybe "bespin the betrayal") there are probably more but this is off the top of my head...what ever happened to that song that was on the casette that Geoff had anyways? Do we have that one yet? Hope this helps
  15. I dont really use iTunes that much, so I didnt realize until very recently that they decided to make an iTunes essentials collection for Matt's career. Now, being an avid fan I realize that there are specific songs that, while not necessarily singles or well known outside of the circle of Matt Good fans, are considered his "best" material. I dont really know how they come up with these essential collections, but for the most part I feel that it was done sloppily. I dont know if anyone else has checked this out and thought similar but I was just wondering if I'm out to lunch or if generally the fans feel the same way. PS: Interpretations of what "should" be on there is very welcome
  16. thanks for the help...I'm kind of a geek about getting all his stuff (including spending NF$ on Bontempo tracks...which aren't very good)
  17. Everyone keeps talking about "I'm not safer than a bank", but its not in the store...where do people have this from? the HUB?
  18. I have a friend whose musical tastes I respect, and he has told me about a metal band called Mastodon that he enjoys and has recommended that I pick up their newest and most widely distributed release, Blood Mountain. I checked them up on iTunes, but the 30 second clips are...well itunes-esque and dont give a very good representation of anything. I was wondering if anyone here were fans (i've also heard that their last release, Leviathan was just as good). Thanks guys.
  19. since this has become a mars volta thread....They played well when i saw them, but that was back during the Frances the Mute days
  20. ya, that was me, lol. I wrote down the list because we couldnt see it from where we were sitting and because i thought i might come on right after the show and post it...but it was late and I was bagged so I just went to sleep (woke up early for the sun run today). Ya, I got to the show pretty early...just after 5 i think, but there were a couple other people already there. It took me a while to find the place, its in a weird spot (but got awesome parking).
  21. and she's really short....i'll be there too (no description)
  22. thanks man, that saves a lot of grief....i hate vancouver parking
