"Go back to bed, America. Your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, America. Your government is in control again. Here. Here's American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed, America. Here is American Gladiators. Here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their fucking skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go, America! You are free to do what we tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!" Or, do be fair size wise, "I smoke. If this bothers anyone, I recommend you look around the world in which we live, and... I don't know, shut your fucking mouth?" Bill Hicks, proof that you don't have to compromise intelligence to be funny. The desire to be a snake is not a good joke, however humourously delivered.

In light of this new information, and for the sake of remaining needlessly negative, there is nothing especially heroic about doing your job and having a building fall on you, compared to doing your job and getting shot by a drug dealer. Also, they weren't the last people to be pulled out alive, they were the last to be pulled out not dead. i think that covers it. Sorry.

He also doesn't really have a record of making movies that are "based on actual events" that were based on actual events. I didn't realize it was Oliver Stone. I was wondering how they would know what two guys did as they waited to die, and I guess it makes sense that Oliver Stone would take this on, since he likes to make things up for his movies. Hooray!

Clerks: Uncensored
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to a topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I would have to agree that the trial episode is probably the best. If I want to break someone into the show, I show them that one. But there isn't one bad episode. And now I think I've worked myself up and have no choice but to watch them. -
Clerks: Uncensored
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to a topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
On a related note, in episode 6 of Clerks the cartoon, Randal and Dante walk into a room marked something like "Writers Room" and if you look closely, a character meant to resemble one of the producers is reading "How to Write Cartoons For Dummies. By Seth McFarlane." When I was in grade nine I found Family Guy funny, then it came back and I assumed it was funny, but didn't care enough to watch it. Now I've tried, and seen the light, and the light tells me Family Guy is a horribly written piece of cartoon garbage. -
Remember a few months ago when there was a similar thread, and it wasn't started by some dinklepuss on a posting spree?

At first the trailer looks like it's just going to be the movie version of the over-kill hero mongering that followed that day, but the end suggests the main focus of the film is about the two guys. Maybe it turns into a My Dinner With Andre type thing, only in a slightly different setting.

The ability to make polls should be restricted to people who have made a certain number of posts. Well over 17 posts. I demand this thread be deleted and crapped on. Why can't I like both albums equally. Each album is an apple and an orange, why must they be compared or given values from one to ten. Sit on it.

THAT'S ME! Remember when I yelled at you in a drunken rage, and I think you blocked me, great. Other than that encounter, I talk on MSN to Meg, Brando sometimes, and I haven't talked to Lauren for years, but she's neat. I also have three people from the Metro that I don't talk to too much, but they are better than any of you could ever be. Then there's borntohula. We have actually touched.

No, it's not that he's popular so I don't like him, it's that he has become popular without really changing is act much, and now that I'm not 15, I realize he was pretty idiotic all along. But idiotic can still be funny. And so, while I still think he can be funny, he isn't deserving of the attention he seems to be getting. I think the fact that he's a good lookin' guy has a little too much to do with his popularity. There, I said it. Once again, funny, but not particularly smart humour, and once i realized this I started to like him a lot less. So maybe I'm just a little upset with myself for liking it in the first place. Or maybe I'm just really bored and typing for no good reason anymore. Go fuck yourselves.

Good News For Star Wars Geeks
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to Quammy's topic in The Silver Screen
Not sure if anyone has brought this up in the last few posts, and I won't check because this place is full of dink heads, but I'm told by a very reliable source that these new old releases still have Hayden Christiansen as a ghost at the end of Jedi, and there is no option to see the origianl. Cn anyone confirm that my disgust is justified? -
American Psycho

try the books -
The only comedians who should be given as much credit as Dane Cook should be smart, and often angry comedians. He can be very funny, but there's not much special about him. I thought he was funny a few years ago, but now that he's all the rage with the same material, not so funny. I also find him a little to close to that funny/annoying line.

Nickelback
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to Quammy's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
When they first came out I was into them because I liked that Canadians were doing so well, but then I realized how much they sucked and it just totally turned my national pride into shame. I had their first big CD and for a while thought it was great, then realzied I had never even listened to it the whole way through, and I tried a few times but could never do it. I think there are a few examples of them writing good pop songs, but even still, most of their singles are just bad, vocals, lyrics, and music most of the time as well. Also Chad Kruger sometimes sings songs with a sexual edge to them, which really grosses me out. -
American Psycho
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to redragon's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Very clever satire. I'll just answer your question and not go into details as to why it's one of my favourite books. And the movie was pretty good. I had a film class this year and one of the articles we had to read was about female directors (lol?). It goes into how a female took that book, using all kinds of adjectives like repulsive and sexist, and made it into a feminist movie. They cited all these examples from the movie, which make the director look like a great feminist film maker, but all of them were more or less the parts that were directly translated from the book. The fuss about American psycho reminds me that feminism went horribly off course somewhere. If anything they should have praised the book, not tried to get it banned. Although they did give it loads of attention which made it as popular as it is, so I guess it all worked out in the end. The movie is actually less feminist, and more just anti-yuppie male I think. -
How Is There Not A Tread For This?!
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to glo's topic in The Silver Screen
I found it very entertaining. It was more of an action movie than the first one, but not as much as the second, so it was good if that's what you like. Personally I still think the first one was the perfect blend of mystery-spy-movie and action-suspense flick. Nevertheless, if you're going to pay $10 to see any old summer blockbuster, I'd make it this one, since it's well written/directed/acted, and has loads of dumb cool shit in it. Also, the last few lines were some of the funniest in recent movie history. -

I thought it was excellent but very depressing by the end.

Damnation! How many versions must they release!? -
Yah, they were pissed off because at the Music Awards for either Europe or Britain Sasha Baron Cohen hosted, and at one point as Borat, he had the fake president of Kazakhstan show up and I think he was a drunk or something. That made them mad. But as for his antics on the show, it's not funny because of the way it portrays Kazakhstani's, but because of the way it shows some American's as being a little gullable. so the movie would be funniest if it was a mockumentary/documentary. The end.

Snakes On A Plane
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to dancing_invisible's topic in The Silver Screen
Does anyone know if this is supposed to be a pseudo-serious snake related thriller like Anaconda, or the much anticipated sequel Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, or is it supposed to be a complete farce. Up until now, having only heard the title, I thought this was a comedy. A really dumb comedy. -
Return Of The Living Dead

But can zombies splooge? Buffy taught us that vampires can't. I'm pretty sure zombies don't splooge, but I'm also not so sure they would even get zombie boners, so I for one will stop worrying about this whole sex with zombies thing, since the idea is clearly laughable.
