Remember Capture The Flag?
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King's topic in Open Discussion
Word on the street is that this thing was a big failure. I had friends who went, and they told me that at first it was poorly organized, and then way too many people showed up. Eventually the police were running around threatening to take people to the station, which I'm guessing is their threat for people they pick off the street for just standing there. They apparently got hundreds of phone calls and had to arrest some people for disturbing the peace and j-walking. The game ended when a police officer got a hold of one of the flags. -

I liked Hyphnip's theory. I could go for a good roman candle fight. The last few I had were just me shooting them at "borntohula" from across a gully. No fun. Well, they were pretty fun. But adults organzing and playing childish games is an amazing concept. -
The Rules Of Attraction
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to sodamntired's topic in The Silver Screen
They were also planning on releasing something called "Glitteratti" or something along those lines. I think it was supposed to either be all of the footage from Victor's Europe trip not used in Rules of Attraction. That or to suggest what happens in between Rules and Glamorama. This next part is only for anyone who has also read American Psycho. The other day on campus I discovered a sign that says "This is not an exit." I had no idea those signs actually existed. I want to steal it, but it's too close to the wall to simply pull or pry off, so I will have to be more inventive. Any professional sign stealers in the waterloo area will be rewarded handsomely for their help. (hand jobs and home made cake) -
They need Tom Cruise to play the Ethan Hunt character, otherwise it'll become like the bond franchise. I think just because he's pretty insane, people like to hate on him, but I think he's one of the more entertaining actors out there, at least of the ones who get payed the big bucks. Because I loved the first one as a kid, and enjoyed the third one this summer, I think it would be strange without him, somehow more fake. Notice I said more. Just since I'm bored, and using The Bored, I remember when they came out with a M:I comic book, and flicking through it in the store, I realized how cool that character was. Without Tom Cruises dashing good looks, t'wouldn't be as cool. And I've lost interest in this topic.

Cool, or what? Discuss.

The Rules Of Attraction

Thank god for you. I love this film, and have ranted on here before about why it is proof that Roger Avery was the brains behind Tarentino's earlier work. I can't wait to see Glamorama, an adaptation from the same author by the same director. -

Pictures of myself and pictures of my girlfriend have both gotten Lucille Ball as a result. I'm not sure what that means. -
I've been thinking a lot about Batman lately, and the Joker as well. (I've been thinking about going insane and becoming him) But last night I had a dream where I came to terms with Heath ledger as Joker. I was watching him in some dream movie, and he could pull it off. Now I don't know about you jerks, but I trust my dream based opinions. They are usually right. So just chill. My only concern is he is too young, and short, and recognizable. I still think I should play the Joker. If anyone needs me to edit a picture of me to be the Joker, I will. NOT!

I thought it was goodish, but Superman isn't a very good hero unless your a kid. With every new movie Bryan Singer does I like him less and less. I found it a bit too boring att oo many parts, and there's really not much you can do with superman. He lifts stuff, then stops bullets, or flys fast, saves the day every time, except for when someone busts out the green stuff, at which point he almost loses, until a human helps him. But with all my beef, there was still something I enjoyed about it.

Just saw the trailer now. Not at all black and gooey enough. Maybe Venom will make up for that.

The Lance Krall Show
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to Dan #3's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
That was one hell of an obscure bump. Well played. -
I wasn't very impressed. Like you said, most of the funny parts were in the trailer. There were other parts which were even funnier in my opinion, but even those parts didn't save the movie. The majority of it wasn't very funny at all, the fart jokes were aweful, and I think fart jokes can work, so I'm not just being snobby. There was more wrong with it, but I feel like I should be living in my parents basement if I'm going to complain this muh about a movie online. So, some funny parts, but overall pretty shitty. I wouldn't recomend paying for it.

That was disgusting. And amazing that she works for Fox News, that part made me feel good. I couldnt even watch all of it though. The nutbag scared me.

That remains one of my favourite shows. It was upsetting that he was clearly losing some of his passion for fighting the good fight, but seeing him regaining it through his hatred of idiots, there was something about it. Who cares if he swore? It wasn't at everyone, just people who were being idiots. After the Go Leafs Go thing I was surprised he even came back out, he was pretty cheesed.

Young Hanibal? And I can't decide between Manhunter and Silence of the Lambs. The other too were just too much of Hopkins and his over acting, and Ed Norton and his under acting.

What Are You Reading?
The_Rat_Who_Would_be_King replied to Disestabulistic's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
Yesterday I finished Nausea by Sartre. It was alright, I think a lot was over my head, or just not the existentialism I'm used to. Today I started Less Than Zero, which is more to my liking so far. -
I was reading his Wikiquote page and I defy someone to find me a quote on there that stands alone as a funny quote. His humour is dependant entirely on silly and uncommon combinations of words and his delivery of them.

Back in the day, 2002, there was a fan movement to go on the show that came before this, which was called Popstars I think, and sing Anti-pop. I think one or two people tried but it really didn't make it beyond the message boards. It sickens me that shows like that have only gotten more popular.

I just watched this the other night too, for the first time since it was in theatres, even though I own it. Possibly Charlie Kaufman's best script. In terms of Jim Carrey, one of his best. I think it was the perfect mix of serious acting with a potential for his style of comedy. It was also very very well directed, completely unique. As far as Hollywood goes.
