  1. wow,t here's so many I don't know where to start. A verse in FTRT that's the same as a verse in antipop. A, G, B, G. i think. somethin like that. matt good has that apparitions rhythm patter that's in like 20 of his songs. boston- more than a feelings nirvana- smells like teen spirit silverchair- tomorrow greenday-brainstew/jaded papa roach - that suicide song, whatever it's called
  2. i liked the movie, but I didn't think jim carey was very good at all. he's a really great entertainer, not an actor. I didn't find his acting very believable. maybe it's because I'm used to seeing him in his usual roles, but it seemed to show that he was really holding back from making his usual animated expressions. was this movie inspired by vanilla sky?, (I forget it's original name).
  3. haha. whatever you think of disturbed is absolutely your subjective opinion. In case you hadn't noticed, this is in the music section. the only thing that makes it retarded is your comments. go listen to peaches or whatever it is you consider to be 'good taste'. save your sass for somewhere else, I'm not interested.
  4. purchase better albums and you wouldn't have that problem. ooh wah ah ah ah. you're a funny guy. trail saturnine into another thread, why don't you
  5. I know this came out last year, but damn this is a good album. it's easily one of the best albums I've purchased in a long time.
  6. i dont think there's anyone the sexy doctors haven't slept with. unethical promiscuity is the best kind, especially in the back of the ambulance!
  7. I've tried Failing the rorschach test acoustically, it sounds surprisingly good.the only problem is , I can't really sing. I'll give it a try, though, and if anyone else is up for it, let me know.
  8. Er IS a great show. it makes me want to be a sexy doctor
  9. I forget exactly what happened in the video, something about some guy and some girl. anyway, don't worry about it. I remember that it didn't really correspond with the message of the song. If you want my interpretation of the song, I can do that, but that's self explanatory
  10. I'm reading two books: Straw Dogs by John Gray, and a book about Einstein, I forget the title and author. Straw Dogs expresses the authors fascinating opinion that human progression is a myth. He argues that human progression is a myth created by science in the same manner that providence is a myth created by Christianity. knowledge is cumulative. (what is gained in one generation can be lost in the next) and even though we make technological gains, ethics remains the same. the thesis is basically that humans aren't any different than any other animal. Ive only jsut started reading it, so I'm sure his opinion is much more extensive than this.
  11. yeah this is the best show on T.V. I like to guess at how many seconds it takes before Jack throws the table in the interrogation rooms. And I never cease to be amused at the fact that Jack carries around a bag of guns. the quality of the episodes are better than most movies of a similiar genre. The producers do what is necessary to make the show believable, and they don't annoy the viewers with cliff hangers, excessive action or deadwood. They're not afraid to kill off main characters . fuckin awsome writing.
  12. I'm surprised at the sad review you guys have given this movie.I thought it completely lived up to the hype. This movie was not supposed to be unpredictable or exciting. if that's what you were expecting - when the title is "A History of Violence"(for christ's sake) - than I understand why most of you don't like it. The pace was perfect. All the "slow" parts were necessary in the development of the characters, unlike other movies Viggu Mortinsen has been in (LOTR). Don't confuse the word slow with uneventful. Just because shit wasn't flying everywhere like a John Wu movie doesn't make it boring, unless you're devoid of an attention span. Does anyone else here understand how awsome Viggu mortinsens performance was? That was the best multiple personality performances I've ever seen. It's not easy to control such subtle differences and make the two personalities seem completely different. most actors would just whip on another accent and act dramatically different, which is boring, predictable and unbelievable. William Hurt's performance might have even been better than Mortinsens. Do you have any idea how hard it is to act being "kind of drunk"? The ending was fitting. If left the viewer wondering whether Mortinsen was one personality or the other, or a mixture of both.
  13. What's your favorite Cher movie? Which turd smells the least?
  14. That's true, but his conflict wasn't exaggerated, it was actually underplayed. "One night, at the pinnacle of his career and the height of his musical power, Johnny Cash, high on amphetamines and full of despair, drove down to Nickajack Cave to kill himself. He knew the cave from going there to search for Civil War and Native American artifacts, and he was well acquainted with the fact that many spelunkers had died deep inside Nickajack
  15. I rented the movie yesterday, only becuase I read the book, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. It's trash, but you do get to see Christina Ricci's tits.
  16. I only have a tapedeck, so I flip between 102.1, 97.7, and AM 640 ( only becaue those stations are easily accessible by pression just one button). I hate that bitch on 97.7, whatever her name is, she has this habit of talking during the outro of a song, like not even at the immediate end, just when the song is still being played. I was totally into "that song" one day, and she just started yapping, " i love that song, we all love that song". It was like, who the fuck are you to interrupt like that? 97.7 plays better music than the edge, but the radio personalities are better on the Edge. Josie should be on the morning show. she adds a dynamic that isn't there with just the 3 guys, they need a voice of reason. my god I talk too much. Too answer the question, I like hearing "So she's leaving by the Trews" when it's played, in all its over-produced, formula following mainstread glory.
  17. I don't understand how Joaquin didn't win an oscar, because I haven't seen Capote. But I do get the impression that maybe philip seymour Hoffman one because the character he played was more eccentric and different from last year (as someone else pointed out) That name just sounds like an oscar winner to begin with. I'll have to see that movie. Reese was near perfect aswell, although she slipped up with her accent on occassion. Joaquin was flawless.
  18. What I find annoying is how everyone talks about how the Leafs just tried to buy a cup, well, no, they didn't. They could have, but they didn't. People don't realize the amount of money that Maple LEafs Entertainment produces. With merchandise along they probably bring in more coin than most teams total profit. The Leafs suck now, but they did have one of the most potent offences in the league for the past six to eight years or whatever it was. They could have bought a stanley cup easily, when there was no cap, are you kidding me? All they needed was, like, two decent defensemen. Two top 4 guys, but that cost too much apparently.
  19. that essay's already been written. it's called plato's Republic. you should read it.
  20. I'll be the first to admit that the Leafs suck, management sucks, ownership sucks and there's a lot of ignorant fans. Of course when you have the largest fuckin market (by far) there's going to be a lot of everything. that includes stupid fans, but no more than there are in Calgary or Vancouver or anywhere else (save the States , which does have legimately ignorant fans). But there's also an abundance of intelligent and loyal fans. There's no debating that the mass of Toronto's hockey culture is unmatched anywhere else in the world, nevermind in the NHL. Look at the statistics. The only other place that comes close is Montreal but even with their ridiculous amount of championships they don't sell out as much. Toronto is the hockey Mecca of the world. so don't make yourself sound silly by acting resentful or jealous, it comes off as being pathetic. there's a reason why Blue Jays fans won't particularily bash the Yankees. There's also a reason why Yankee stadium is always sold out and the Rogers Center is not. Just like the Leafs and the rest of the league.
  21. I always thought that this film was over-rated, you know, one of those movies with a catchy name and slightly unconventional plot, and suddenly it's a cult hit. everyone claims they like it but half the people who watch it actually don't care. Nevertheless, it was alright, that was back before I got completely sick of Uma thurman and her feet. my favorite, "MM HMMM, that is one tastey burger!" nothin more obnoxious than a big mean black guy eating your burger.
  22. This is one of the best books I've ever read. Prozac Nation - Elizabeth Wurtzel If fakeness is the reason why fiction books bore me to tears, than honesty is why I love this book. This book is honest in a way that couldn't be fabricated. The author offers a personal portrayal of her struggle with depression - mainly during her first year at Harvard - but also her during her childhood leading up to that point. Her story took place through the seventies and eighties, before depression became trendy and later mocked. Much of the book reads like a journal, random self analysis, rants, and philosophizing. She ponders endlessly about this new thing called "depression" and tries to make sense about how it relates to her time in her culture. What I particularily love is that she doesn't waste time with unimportant details, yet she gives every ounce of detail pertaining to what is relevant. She comes off as being a whiny spoiled bitch- after all ,her life was alright enough to get to Harvard- but she makes absolutely no apologies for it(and says so herself).
  23. I think I bashed this in some other thread, anyway. this show is becoming the x-files . it increasingly spews out more questions than answers. And, just like the x-files, it's become plainly obvious that the answers to those questions will be postponed until nobody cares about the show anymore. as long as there's a nerdy following large enough to sustain ratings the producers will stretch the show. it's like the Leafs. As long as people care, there will never be a satisfying end to the Leafs story. all the characters exhibit the same overly mysterious demeanor which makes the show appear phony in the same manner that C.S.I detectives made investigative shows boring years ago. Everyone's cunning, sarcastic and wise. Instead of each character being his or her own character, there's just a myriad of lines which can be randomly spoken by everyone and everyone generally sounds the same. it's like there's only one character, and that character is boring as hell. kind of like the Gilmore Girls or General hospital.
  24. I'll vouch for that ;) . I really haven't had any time to do any exercising lately, but when I do I love to see how far I can go. It's a wonderful challenge. Remember those "Beep Tests" at school? I always had a love-hate relationship with them. They were quite draining at times, but after they were done, I always felt a sense of accomplishment and usually did quite well on them. I miss high school gym class, actually. I've recently joined a gym and am absolutely addicted to it. Going there and running the shit out of the treadmill is such a great destresser. that's exactly where I got addicted to running. we had to do the "shuttle-run", or, "beep test" in school aswell. I was pretty much a fat kid when I entered college, but I trained for the test. In less than 6 months I was in the top 4 or 5 in my class. I went from running 5.5 to 11 in less than 6 months.
  25. Isolate your forearms and I guarantee you will increase your bench weight by 10-20 pounds atleast in just a couple weeks. I can tell that you dont work them out, but that's normal. I see all these people with ripped biceps and no forearms, I don't get it. It;s like people forget they are muscles. not only will you increase your bench weight, but EVERY other arm exercise. grip strength is important, you'll be surprised. do wrist curls for your flexor and extensor muscles on a bench with barbells.(read arnolds book if you dont know how). strip the weight and kill them. your forearms are like your calves, high tolerance, and annoying to workout. if you want them to grow you need to keep going, even though it stings like a bitch. since you need to do a "first" workout, you'll make huge gains to start with. I bet you;ll increase your bench weight by as much as 40 or 50 pounds in a month or two.
