this is a good thread. I've always been a decent tipper, but I've always resented being pressured into paying people extra money for doing their job. it doesn't make any sense that servers are "supposed" to get tips. cooks don't get tips, dishwashers don't get tips, neither do hosts etc. but because of the culture, servers often make about 3 times what other hospitality workesr make. i used to be a dishwasher, and I worked harder than anyone else for minimum wage while servers made like 100 bucks a night on tips alone not including their regular pay. some bartenders also act like you're being cheap if you tip less than a dollar a drink. it's ridiculous.

yeah well you also never saw that your name is one big typo. apparitions is the best, hands down.it's quintessential mgb which came out during matt's and mgb's musical heyday. the video captured the vibe of the song more than any other video I've ever seen, including non-mgb videos. it followed a solid storyline from beginning to end without having to resort to flashy bullshit to kill time. the climax of the video coincided with the climax of the video. every member of the band played roles in it which was cool. I just had to clarify why it's the best. I'm too lazy to make a list for the rest. there's no clear 2nd choice anyway, it's like gretzky, then, bobby orr, gordy howe, who knows.

that stands for personal video recorder if you didn't know. Does anyone else have this? it's just increased my addiction to T.V. I can tape 40 hours worth of stuff and watch it whenever I want. I don't like it, though.because I know I can fast forward I get really impatient when the play is slow and all I can think about is fastforwarding, even inbetween whistles. I fast forward until a goal is scored, watch it, then keep fast forwarding. it's sad.

Just like how the U.S's population is so large because of its multiculturalism right? don't tell me to educate myself about multiculturalism when you donm't even know what it means. Yes, blame the left-lib teachers. You're right, it was fucked up before Harris got to it, but his spending cuts, stupid fights with teachers, and terribly curriculum changes fucked students over more than they were before. He didnt make it better, he made it worse. I am blaming the teachers. the 'stupid fights' were caused by the teachers union. students don't become stupid all of a sudden because of cuts in spending. their learning isn't hampered by the lack of fancy colored paper. harris got rid of superfluous spending and raised the standard for learning. good for him. province wide tests show that grade 3 students aren't learning as much. it's not because their stupid, or because of mike harris, it's because a larger percentage of them don't speak english. that's my gripe with multiculturalism. it's a little annoying when you ask for directions in an english speaking city, and you can't find anyone who speaks english. diversity sounds great when you're trying to be politically correct and "open minded" ,but it doesn't make any sense to have dozens of isolated communities in a single city. multiculturalism doesn't promote acceptance or tolerance, it's the complete opposite. people move to toronto and stay in their isolated little communities without having to deal with anyone else or even learn the countries national language. I remember when I was little. the title our annual christmas party at school was changed to " A winter wonderland" out of fear of annoying someone who didn't celebrate christmas. I'm the most anti-christian person I know , but jesus christ,how fucked is that? I'm embarrassed to be canadian.

the flashbacks are the most interesting parts. they add character development and move the story along. without the flashbacks the show would be like, stargate. it would suck nard. Yeah, they are making is seem as though the island is affecting people. they're foreshadowing that when the timer runs out Locke will lose his ability to walk, and other things will happen to other people. there's other questions, like, why isn't hurley losing weight? etc

The sens have had the better team in each of the last, 4 consecutive times the leafs have beaten them? I've lost count. This year they have what looks to be hte best team in the NHL. they've lost lalime the choke machine, bonk, and some other playoff dead weight. they should make it past the leafs, especially with gary roberts gone, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I've lived in toronto all my life. I haven't travelled much so I can't really compare it to other cities. I can say that the education system is terrible and that multiculturalism is annoying

I think you pretty much got it right. possible things it could have been intended to say: 1. sarcastically saying his music is a snooze, or that the people who are listening to it are asleep. also,he seems to like to talk about sleep and dreams. "lay back down your pretty head, while the worlds in bed, I dreamed I was a pigeon etc) 2. the music is SO GREAT that you can't move or speak when you hear it. It's probably a combination of all those things, aswell as what rmak said. I think it's talking about that time period that you're stuck in, not just for MG music but for everyone else. everyone has the music of their generation. no matter how old they get they always associate best with their generation. they're "stuck" in that "time period". this one's mine.

me too. I didn't hear kickass right away. there's a lot of mysteriously opaque/white noisey parts in matt's music. to this day I'm not sure what is said in the middle of avalanche, or before and during the outro for antipop.
