Pirates of the Carribbean. All the Way. Give it a few years, they're filming 2 & 3 as we speak.

Canada does not "have" to sign anything. We're a soverign entity, and that alone should imply that Canadian interests SHOULD take presidence. Now, back in the real world, there are a lot of forces that push us one way or another. De Facto vs. De jure soverignty and all that. But, the americans have said openly that a 'no' on our part wouldn't result in strained relations. Now, considering that we can trust the word of the american administration as far as we can throw it (not far), we should learn the lessons of history. There have been numerous instances where Canadian uninvolvement in an american cowboy excursion was sold as being the worst decision Canada could ever make, that It would end favorable diplomatic relations forever. It doesn't. Think Vietnam. On the other hand, there have been instances where Canada put its ass on the line for the US, and were no better off for it. Think Iran hostage crisis. Think Korea. Countries are complicated things, and one good/bad deed isn't always enough to sour relations. My point? Canada can and should say no to missile defence, and the thought of incurring america's wrath shouldn't factor into it. Canadians should get their say over what happens over their own skies. If we do, Star Wars will stay south of the 49th, where it belongs. We'll be better off for it.

Has anyone here even Heard Comfortable Criminals? I've almost got all the b-sides, but this one escapes me. City of millions is the same deal, though I'm thinking that hat one doesn't actually exist, but was the working title of empty road. If you want b-sides, post your email, and i'll see if I can hook you up.

I have a Question What interest does Universal have in maintaining the site of an artist who doesn't plan to produce any more? To sell old material? Does that mean this will be more of a "joint" MGB/MG site? I don't think Matt's done with music. I know for a fact that it's not just something that one can just drop from their life so quickly. Maybe he'll change the boundaries through which he works, but I think he'll keep producing. edit- I think Matt should have a site like Maddox's, where he can post his rants all he likes without fear of the bullshit comments. Maddox seems to revel in his hate mail.

I really hope that wasn't serious

If people were clamoring for my attention, and dying to be able to talk to me online, I'd have people apply to become website members, and have them fill out a detailed questionaire before I would let them post. It would have to be Juuuust long enough that the idiots would say "screw this," but that we'd be happy to do it. Then, he could pick and choose who to allow and who not to, based on a set number of questions. Impractical? Bet your ass. It would have to be, to work.

Not to mention that he did the whole Gorilla Mask thing for a while, to continue the monkey theme.

I have a Question. Who are these random arseholes that seem to enjoy wasting their time on this earth trying to mess (can I swear on this board?)with the head of a guy who just wants to provide a forum for discussion? I mean, people can argue whatever they want, and matt can indulge them as he sees fit, but the postings you're describing are such idiotic wastes of time! Do they take joy in it?!? If they do, they're probably loving that we all now look like we're debating matt's mental health, on top of his psysical health. My polite indignation knows no bounds.

I'm going to have to agree, I don't see how seeing him with a mustache is going to make my life any better, knowing what a pain in the ass we're causing a very sick man. Cheers if he continues, but christ knows why he would. If I were him (and, i'm not) the new matt good site would probably be: Bio Pics Tour Media A read-only blog or some sort.Maybe.

In a coma is back up - though it's seen better days. Sounds like our guy is hurtin' - wish him all the best. -what's this proposal? And how do we get involved with this new site?

Paul Cellucci is the american ambassador to Canada, and he's part of the reason the entire missile defence scheme feels like a hampster wheel with a gun up our ass for Canadian politicians...he just keeeeeps putting pressure on us. Squeezing and talking to the media and bashing Canada, then pretending he's the best thing that's ever happened to us. It's agravating. I'd make comments about how I wish something bad would happen to him, but for fear that it would be grounds for the FBI to arrest me and hold me without charges or seeing a lawyer. Even though I'm in Canada.

This is insanity! I've never seen one website change so radically so quickly, and command my attention so completely. I'm thinking he's continually reducing the site so his "committment" to his fans will be less and less (resulting in this non-site), but the smaller he makes it, the more we buzz like killer bees about whats wrong with him, where he is, is he ok. It's crazy. -this "non site" being the mg site, not nf sir.

One of the things that I find interesting/infuriating about this topic is that most of the Canadians I know who actually think this is a good idea, seem to think that even though the majority of Canadians don't want any part of it (statistically speaking), we should really do it anyway. As if the majority's opinion in this democratic country should just be overlooked completely because the Americans reeeally reeealy reeeEEEeeealy want us to. Grrr. Paul Cellucci is a snake.

Is anyone else here particularly interested in missile defence? I won't lie to you, MG got me interested in it, but since then it's become quite a hot button issue, one that could theoretically topple Paul Martin's government if it goes wrong. My problem is, the site that Matt was supporting, ceasefire.ca, appears to be only sparsely updated. It's frustrating. Does anyone else know of any really good sites that update this material regularly, because its (i think) really an important issue.

Just to keep this from spiraling in the wrong direction, i didn't mean that matt sat down to write a song about Near Fantastica members specifically, but we know his troubles with idiots that (apparently) send him death threats, criticize him from the comfort of their living rooms, etc., etc. That might be a bit more productive topic than people hauling me to the guillotine for posting something stupid.

I showed someone the "downloading blues" song, which could be seen as quite a nice "screw you" to those of us (Matt's online fanbase, who the Ryan/Matt stuff has been directly released to) who took pot shots at the new stuff posted on line. They thought it was cool/funny. Then I showed them Agoraphobe and Seriously Serious, and they wanted to know if Agoraphobe was about the same people as the first one - those who choose to sit in front of the computer instead of going out into the world. Care to share opinions? Just asking

I Wasted Nf On That New "free Download" Song
Kayriss replied to failingtherorshachtest's topic in Matthew Good
I think this song is kind of a "screw you" to many of us on here who pass opinions on the new project that Matt doesn't agree with. Which is hilarious, i think. I can just picture him laughing at this thread. The irony is delicious. It's obviously not a song that he'll include on an album, nor for radio release. The only place people will try to get it is through P2P, or here. Hence, the people who want it will have to...download...it. That's chess, not checkers, right there. Cheeky. --Gentle jesus, someone has 9364 NF$? Is there a better way for me to claw my way toward downloading the b-sides through this site than posting a ridiculous ammount? What is the rating system? -
Does anyone else remember a post on the Mblog a while ago that said that matt was forming the new band to exercise his Indie rock deamons, or somthing to that extent? (paraphrasing heavily) Doesn't that imply a little that he'll be keeping his other projects going at the same time?
-
Hey, maybe Ryan wants to make a video. I mean, this isn't just Matt's project, right?
-
I think i'd be a little scared to go to an acoustic show, for fear of the wrath of the beer swilling college guys, dissappointed by the lack of headbang-ed-ness at such a show. On the other hand, maybe they'd just leave, and we'd get a much less noisy audience, and absolutely nobody yelling "Rico"

So, I woke up this morning and had an interesting thought. Imagine yourself as passive radio listener/muchmusic zombie, and you hear/see something by "The Matthew Good Band", or "Matthew Good". Also assume that you're somehow not familiar in the slightest with this group/artist. The Matt Good site really doesn't do much for you along the lines of trying to figure out how to get a hold of Matt's stuff, and except a link to Wikpedia, you'd have to do a bit of work to figure out that this is in fact the website of that guy on the TeeVee. Yet most of the people here seem to dig In a Coma and we "get" the sense of humor Matt puts out there to us. My question is: Should a band's website be by necessity a way for consumers to obtain information on their music and albums, or a blank slate through which they can post just about whatever they want? Again, imagine yourself as the above mentioned media zombie.

Definately Prime Time Deliverance. The song rambles a bit musically, but the lyrics are great. The whole "[liberal mannequins]eat chinese food and ...don't call their wives cause the girl in the wondow is pressing her breasts up against the wondow pane" Gold.

I think it would be sweet to hear can't get shot in the back with the same studio quality we get from "apparations", or even "all together" for that matter. Maybe I just have a bad version.

This whole thing is odd for me, because I try to distance myself from the whole "cult of celebrity" thing. I'd have to say that it was the world news/political thing that drew me to the MG site, a site that I check fairly regularly. I (selfishly?) hope that there is a return to this type of blog, because as much as I love Matt's music, he's just a guy, no different than me, and his personal life isn't of all that much interest to me. Not to jump on a soapbox, I do get why reading blogs are popular, and why people read them. As well, I credit Matt for helping turn me on to worthwhile topics like Amnesty and Missile defence. Was there a point to this post? Who knows these things... -By the way, I'm kind of new here, Is there a way to know that that was actually Matt that posted above as "help"?

Hows about showing a guy the link to said blog? -scratch that, found it.
