  1. Being that I'm not canadian and have only a minor grasp on my own countries legal system i'm not sure i'm qualified to post, however I would imagine that most songs would have to be exempt from this, or ex's from half the songs you hear on the radio, or anywhere would be coming out of the woodwork trying to get money. I'd be willing to bet unless the person can show some kind of evidence where the song caused them real problems, that they'd have any kind of stance to even attempt a lawsuit. Then again, I could be entirely off on this.
  2. in my humble opinion the whole "don't wear a shirt for hte band you're going to see rule" is one of the lamest things ever concieved. It's only point and purpose is so people who are slightly more into music, or have watched certain movies, or whatever, can seriously make fun of people because they havn't, and feel superior to them. Now granted I generally abide by said rule, but who cares what someone wears to a concert, and logically, it makes sense TO wear the band shirt to their concert. Ultimately it's only reason for existence is so that some people rule out doing something that hte mass majority will feel inclined to do, so that they can make fun of them and claim their superiority. There's just simply no reason for it.
  3. wait? Was it just said that the hub is down? or that no new stuff will go on to the hub. because as of right now i can't log into the hub, which I only go on once every few months so maybe something has changed, but I got the impression that it might have been taken down. For those that were unaware the hub used to be a matt good specific DC++ hub. if you google DC++ matthew good, i'm sure something comes up about it.
  4. nope, not working for me either
  5. I was at the show (from Green Bay Wisconsin if anyone saw the liscence plate from Wisconsin and was confused), and my girlfriend went upstairs after a few songs and said she saw somebody videotaping the whole show, not sure if anyone else saw this or knows anything about it (or if my girlfriend is crazy, which... is always a possibility).
  6. I'm torn on this actually. Not torn on the fact that the organization being used as a tax shelter is wrong, but torn on the fact of supporting them. MPH exists to spread awareness and act as a coalition of people all acting for the same cause, the fact that they allow people to use it as a tax shelter seems to be against their goals, and this along with the wristband scandal is horrible, but to my exstent of supporting them, I don't know if it matters. Granted most of my activity of writting to officals and spreading awarness would be done if there was an MPH or not, but I'm still going to link people to their videos and stories, if they were an organization that asked for money, i'd seriously doubt giving them any, but they don't, so thats' not an issue. I'm not suggesting they shouldn't be brought out for whatever they've done and be held accoutnable for it, they must certainly should, but using them as a focal point for spreading awareness on the problem, and even wearing a band which i previously purchased, helps spread awareness. I'm not saying they shouldn't be held accountable for whatever it is they have done, they most certainly should, it should become publically awae, but I will continue to put their links in my profiles, away messages, and thinks of that nature, so long as the content they have, and the goal they strive for, are things I agree with. As i've said I think this would be totally different if they asked for moeny and did anything else besides spread information and awareness. I don't even think they deal with dispensing aid or anything of that nature, just lobbying for it. As I've said I'm torn on the issue, but for the time being I still support them to the extent of spreading awareness and support.
  7. My question on the ngo is this (as for the bands being ordered from sweat shops is a differnet issue, which I'm hoping is an isolated, but MAJOR mistake). If the ngo has a goal of erradicating poverty, but is also a tax shelter for billionaires, if they still do the work, does it really matter? MPH doesn't accept donations really (besides the bands), so it's really more of a "hey everybody speak out to your represenative" type thing, and obviously that's still going on? Thats assuming it is MPH, which I obviously have no idea if it is.
  8. Does anyone have matt's poems and stuff that he used to have up on his blog? I don't think there in the archive anymore and my GF needs to read a poem for a class and wants to read an MG one, plus I want them anyway if anyone still has them. So if anyone has them an e-mail to [email protected] would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I thought I remember hearing that Matt's was stolen... actually on second that that might have been Lo-Fi, one of the two.
  10. well in his blog he's now talking about going into the studio to record some new songs (And being unable to write 2nd verses for them) and he said "when you guys hear them later this year", and also him Ryan, and his band are preforming again, so I think his recent postings put an end to all this "done with music" nonsense. And those who saidt hey voted "no" because they are HOPING he comes out with another album, either i misunderstood you or you didnt' read the question. The question asked if you thought he WAS going to come out with another CD, to which, I voted yes.
  11. I actually just randomly bought Beautiful Midnight one day because me and my friend had read about MGB and the new album Beautiful Midnight from both a message board and his uncle. And me being the one with money, and him being the one with urgest to buy things, we combined forces to get the CD, listened to it on the way home from the mall, and since then some form of MG/MGB has been in the rotation of CDs I listen to. Still havn't seen him live as I live in the states, was going to go up to Canada for the tour this summer, but a family emergency put a stop to any such plans.
  12. well i got the name from matt's blog, where he apparently misspelled it.
  13. For those who havn't listened to the audio post excerpt from "How to Turn Your Blog On and Off" it's a must.
  14. Wow did you all read the "Mblog Returns!" link. Matt seems to be in WAY better spirits, glad to see his vacation seems to have helped
  15. Well after reading a recent post on here i scurried over to matthewgood.org to see the blog back up.. hopefully for a while to see that Matt said Ryan and Meegan are now in "his band". Does this mean the stuff we've been refering to as +jackpillowhead is just the next phase in Matt Good's solo/not really solo career, or am I assuming too much by that?
  16. I love it, my favorite show on TV, but I really think it's one of those shows you need to watch all of in order to truly appreciate it, which is why since I've missed a few episodes, I may just resign myself to waiting for the DVDs or atleast til I'm on a computer where I can download them.
  17. they are counted through indepedant organizations, no official count by the US. www.iraqibodycount.com and other places conduct independant counts.
  18. Maybe this was brought up, i just skimmed most of the replies, but... Canadians are Americans, so saying that Canadians want to be Americans is... wrong... becuase they are.
  19. While I too am happy that the Iraqi people did get a chance to vote, I think it is being too positively spun. I think it was a great day for the Iraqis, but by no means a sole victory. Also i noticed it says of "registered" voters. I know heard a few weeks ago that only 1/4th of elligable Iraqi's were registered, not sure if that was a compeltely accurate number, but 72% of 1/4th isn't nearly as good a figure, yet again, I will say that i read this atleast two weeks ago and that I can't find it, so it may or may not be completely accurate but it's wording of that nature that can easily be viewed as overly positive. It's good the Iraqi's voted and it went.. relatively smoothly atleast. The elections must be fair, and all factions of Iraq must be given a say and not repressed by whatever faction gains power, or else the region will degrade into a civil war.
  20. I'm torn on this. I defently think suicide should be legal (as it being illegal makes no sense, how are you to punish the dead?). And I think in a perfect world assisted suicide should also be legal, but it'd be too hard to make sure that assisted suicide doesn't turn into someone murdering, and making it look like an assisted suicide. I'm voting for both, but under the condition that assisted suicide only allowed in a situation where the other person is physically unable to kill themselves (ie a paralized person, or some other extreme situation).
  21. Yeah what happened? Last i saw "In A Coma" was taken down becuase of people being stupid there, and he took down his "[email protected]" e-mail (which i thought should have been done a long time ago). Did anything else happen since then?
  22. There is a fine line between conspiracy theorist and logical thinker. I also find it disgusting with the speed any idea that suggest any amount of foul play is instantly labeled an impossible conspiracy. Freedom of press in the US only exists in a limited form, as most news organizations are owned by a few corporations, and all of these corprations want to get the big name political guests, esspecially of the party in power, and in doing so, can't nessisarily report. The days of the reporting digging up a story seem to have gone to the wayside, which is a tragic thing. Freedom of speech also exists in a limited form, when your "speech" can insight an FBI investigation based on passing comments, or you can be arrested simply for wearing a T-Shirt. Even women's rights are being attacked. Free elections, also, both the 2000 and the 2004 elections had a lot of elements that should have been FIXED and not just looked over. Take for example the new computer voting machines. There is no logical reason why they shouldn't have a paper reciept so you can do a hand count of them, as they stand now, there code isn't open sourced and the only way to do a recount is simply to trust the original results. Thats one of the big reasons the fuss was brought up in the Senate yesterday, not to change the election, no matter what Bush will be president (at best it goes to a vote in the senate and the house, and republicans have a majority there, so any argument that democrats were just trying to get the election changed is completely illogical). If we allow things like this to go unchecked in our election, the validity of our "democracy" will be in great danger. As for countries having say in the UN, the UN should be reformed, and it should act as a global community and it should represent the people's voice, not nessisarily the party in power of each nation. But to say certain countries shouldn't have say in the UN, could be dangerous.
  23. ecnarf, I'll send it to you, but i couldnt' find your e-mail, i sent you one through the client here, but i couldn't attach a file obviously. E-mail me at [email protected] or respond here with your e-mail and i'll send it along. And I'm still having problems finding the other ones, are they called "Matt Rants" too or are they something else?
  24. How many others are there, and what P2P do you use! I must have them all! The only one i could find was this one.
  25. Had to go with Star Wars III, has lots of potentially to be either really good, or really bad. And how it is pretty much determines how much I'll end up liking episodes 1 or 2 (well... most of episode 1 is already in the don't need to see again really catageory, but episode 2 was decent, atleast by comparison). Man I am a SW geek.
