  1. Well now that that was brought up. Intrestingly enough, Christianity was not really the reason for christmas for anything other than name itself. The holiday was originally a pagan holiday to celebrate the winter solstice, and the birth of Christ is reported to be sometime in the summer (I forget the actual date, but i want to say June/July ish). The church placed the celebration of the birth of christ on December 25th to ease the pagans into celebrating christian tradtions. So while "christmas" in a sense is a christian holiday, the time and placing of it is actually pagan. And yes, if a school allows other religious songs then they should allow them all (Assuming it's public), but I'd prefer leaving religion out of the schools all together.
  2. I dunno, maybe they should record it professionally. Man even I hate me for how pathetic that was.
  3. Hey what happened to giving my unlimited $ for my greatest first post ever. Yeah i know it was short and unnessisary, but.. I was tired and want the sweet sweet downloads! Also I'm a huge MG fan, and loved the song. My girlfriend however, dislikes much Matt Good, probably because I play it so much, but she said she liked the song and was probably her favorite MG song. She liked the new album a lot as well, so maybe theres hope for her yet.
  4. Is this song a Matt Good song, or one of his with the new band? Just curious if anyone knew, sorry if this is a stupid question but I havn't gotten it yet and havn't really seen anything about it yet.
  5. To say that a majority of US is conservative is probably incorrect. A majority of voters in US are maybe conservative, if you believe that the election was handled correctly and all the votes were counted, but yes in all likelyhood a majority of US voters were conservative. The problem is that many people here who are "liberal" think it's all cool to not vote and that somehow makes them super cool and better than you cuase htey are going against the system. But besides that saying that "the voice of america" is convervative because 1-3% more people voted conservative is a dangerous, stereotypical claim. The US community needs to be more outraged that people like that are saying things "in their name" but they are by no means the voice of the US as a whole.
  6. I think all the religions should be absent from school, and everyone should be allowed to do whatever they want in respect to religion at home. Same for corporations. If schools include one religion and not another, than that is hypocritical, but I don't recall seeing any Kwanzaa or Channukah songs in any public school I've ever seen/been to
  7. Didn't enjoy the movie, it just lacked anything i really look for in a movie. Character development is not even attempted, and a plot is more or less absent. There is a string of various sub plots, but these are really just in place to give an hour and a half or so of stream of as many possible teen catch phrases as they can try to pack in. The main character is always saying weird and outrageous things, and it's rather obvious that this is just an attempt to try to hook in a phrase or two that will catch on so that it can get word of mouth advertising (which, apparently worked). It has it's funny parts, but... like i said, not the type of thing i normally like.
  8. I don't feel it's propaganda, but that depends highly on your definition of propganda. I don't think any of the facts in the movie are debatable, the commentary and opinions are obviously just that opinions. The facts are one sided yes, but as i said, i wouldnt' expect otherwise from a political documentrary. Atleast getting the facts right is more than people like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh do.
  9. Resident Evil 2 seemed entertaining but all in all not a "good" movie. I did miss a part in the middle but it seemed like they just added some chincy effects and some of the weirder elements from the game, to me it had a lot more of a "Mortal Kombat: Annihaliations" crappy game movie feeling than the first one had. But maybe thats just me
  10. I am all for paying for access to his blog, esspecially with added bonus, and the profits going to charity is a great idea. I'm 100% behind it
  11. There's a huge debate over whether or not you should say "merry christmas" or "happy holidays" I myself celebrate christmas, but only out of social habit not any religious reasons. I don't exactly understand fully what the christmas pushers want, do they want to force corporations and stores to say "merry christmas" ionstead of "happy holidays" or is it just that they want schools to learn about christ around christmas? Either way i don't see why "happy holidays" isn't a nice inclusive alternative that covers not only christmas but any other holiday. Just wondering what everyone else thought and if i was missing something about the debate. I quick looked for this topic, if it already exists, sorry. Happy Holidays
  12. Moore polorizes people. I personally enjoy his films, and feel they are factual, but one sided, but... thats pretty much what i'd expect from most political documentaries. Anyway, apparently he's put all his work on hold to work on "F 9/11 Part 2" after the election, atleast thats the lastest i've heard. Either way i'll be looking forward to all his future films.
  13. gave the song a listen. I really dug it, a lot of potential in this new band thinks I.
