  4. so what is the deal with the band doing matt good covers???? heres a translation as best as babelfish gives. "I invested much time into the study of the music of my favourite artist Matthew Good from Canada. Since 2002 I am about regular to after-pass on its pieces. (???) Since I cannot exceed the original anyway, I have to near-happen decided as creatively as only possible to the thing. Came out a wild style mixture, between depressive sounds and most absurd Comedy." so...what i can assume is that the horrible covers are SUPPOSED to be that bad.
  5. Bubble Boy
  6. Pluto is one of the lost pop/punk bands that just couldn't make it in the Canadian landscape of popular music. Why is beyond me. Even today, seven years after their first album was released, I can throw this album on and impress the hell out of people that have never heard of the band. I'm willing to wager that if you listen to "Black Lipstick" you will walk away singing the chorus. ("My girlfriend is in a band / I'm her number one fan / she's in the palm of my hand") Sure, it may be that their lyrics weren't totally intelligent but how many radio bands have something profound to say? Not a hell of a lot. Anyway, Pluto is one of the best, unrealized power pop bands of Canada's history. The band can blast out tracks like "Failure" and "Regenerate" like nobodies business. It seems like it is band's like these that just can't seem to make a go of it. Great, fun music is not what the masses want even when major labels scoop up bands like Pluto. They end up back doing things themselves. This isn't a bad thing. There is so much good music that has been undiscovered out there.
  7. This is the big controversy down south. Arguement is that "Happy Holidays" takes Jesus out of the season. Personally, I think saying Happy Holidays is much more inclusive to all faiths. What do you think?

  12. i'm thinking i maybe dropped the ball. not so much dropped the ball, but i dug a hole, dropped the ball in it, took a crap on it, then lit it on fire. yeah, that sounds about right. so...i went to the bar last night with my roommate. it was fun, ran into a lot of people i knew. good times had by all. then this random attractive girl spilt her White Russian on me. she proceeded to apologize profously. i told her it was alright. she then grabbed a napkin and started rubbing my chest, my leg, and my crotch, still apologizing. it was then she told me to come to the back of the bar with her cause she was looking for her friends. she found her friends, then she told me that i should come to this party with her after the bar closed. fast forward a couple hours and i'm at home. not at the party. i'm laaaame. i'm too lame. i am the lamest of the lame. i didn't go to the party cause i thought "who would i know there anyway? how would i get home in the morning?" but...i have no regrets. its definetly going to be a story i tell for a while.

  17. The american release of BM just doesn't flow as well as the Canadian release. I know this because my roommate bought the US version first. He eventually ordered the much superior Canadian release. He agree that it flows better and it has the best song that was cut from the us release I Miss New Wave
  18. what really gets to me is every decade starting in the 60s has had its own style 60s - folk rock (bob dylan, phil ochs, etc.) 70s - disco, punk 80s - new wave 90s - grunge 00s - ????? yeah...a few people have told me that those genres pretty much started towards the end of those decades, but i can't think of anything from the past 5 years that has really stood out as original in this decade.
  19. the whole "he's an asshole" i hear from a lot of people when i go home. "but i like his music" is what they add on.
