i have a lousy rip of the hand that feeds. maybe it'll grow on me. if only the damn rip wouldn't repeat after two minutes. of course, it could be mislabeled. bastards. and i haven't heard home. a song that really doesn't go anywhere and has very little structure is 10 miles high. a great song. very distorted.

yeah, people are people to me. i'll admit, when i was younger, i had been kind of disturbed because of the cliche of gay people hitting on straight people. which, for the record, i'm going to call my religion (or lack thereof, depending on how you look at it), stupid. people are people. love thy neighbour. something called humanity means more to me than someone's sexual preference. i find that people who aren't straight often respect your preference with a great deal of dignity. perhaps this comes from their having to deal with people ragging on their preferences. i find the extremism of a movement sometimes invokes change, but usually over-the-top antics (like dan said, the gay pride parade and what not) don't really help the cause. if you're trying to integrate yourself into society, don't try to single yourselves out for targeting again... and the marriage thing? i don't know where i stand on that one. on one hand, the church calls marriage, 'by definition,' man and woman united under God. ironically, i don't see them railing at the common-law relationships as much any more... so it comes full circle. society progresses, and we accept what has become the norm. hypocrisy sure is fun, isn't it? and, for the record, i have heard arguments about why homosexuals and marriage isn't a viable option. and the tax benefit argument, and infidelity arguments, and blahblahblah. way i see it, we all have to live together... why don't we just respect each other's differences?

Has Religion Done More Good Than Bad?
cavalier_eternal replied to Dan #2's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
i say it's done more bad than good. yeah, cite the crusades and everything... fact is, human nature loves to say, 'in the name of god, do i justify my perversely twisted ways...' it's far too much of a cop-out to say, god wants me to. which is why religion grinds at my nerves. i think the fact that i've had religion force-fed to me all my life has something to do with that too. take christianity for example. north american society is predominantly christian. at least, the influence religion-wise is. these bible thumpers who run around screaming bloody murder about all sorts of things make me sick... the fundamental teachings of the faith are to love your neighbour as yourself... not to harass them to no end and make them hate the light you're supposed to be shining. anyways. enough ranting in brief. bedtime. -

Free Heroin To Addicts
cavalier_eternal replied to HoboFactory's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
yeah, i've been one to say legalize everything, for a few reasons... don't make it free! why the hell do you think they still sell cigarettes? it's because the government makes a crapload of money off it. don't kid yourself. same with casino operations and stuff. if you legalize everything, you can do what you're doing right now... provide sanitary stuff for the users to prevent spread of preventable diseases and stuff. if you regulate such things, you can control where people do such things. i don't know if this even remotely makes sense, but i know the government charges a ton for cigarettes. they should proportionately charge tons for high level drugs like heroin and cocaine and stuff. and if people complain about health care, well, make their premiums either go to that, or give them a different kind? or take them off it? sound calloused? then don't choose to legally do drugs... i know it's a pipe dream, but still. if you make laws restricting the way drugs are used and such and provide them, i'm not saying things will be that much better. let's face it. people would abuse it. kind of like drinking and such. but if you slam people with hefty fines, the government gets more money (which they love), and people have less inclination to do it. theoretically. i know this proposition is full of holes, but hey. and yeah, free heroin is kind of not the best idea, i don't think. they argue they're only serving the addicts, but how do we know that? if i wanted heroin, i'd go out and shoot up for free at one of these so-called clinics. i don't have to be an addict to get it, do i? so it's almost like condoning it, in a way. on the flip side, yeah, you're sort of helping the addicts, but hey... who's to say? good on them for trying something different, i guess. i'm sure my idea is rather off base. but kind of like a lot of things, it sounds pretty good on paper, but would probably not work in reality. <cough> communism <cough> edit: government getting money is definitely not the solution. if anything, don't do drugs... but that sort of thinking doesn't really work. so offset everything by vastly overcharging. only reason cigarettes are legal, really. if you look at the stats, it's allowed only because of historical and societal context. and, moreover, they make a crapload of money off it. to put that into context, i was working (at dominion, where i work...), and someone went to the counter ahead of me to buy a carton of cigarettes. i dont' know much about cigarettes, but there can't be much in a carton. small package. about maybe five by five inches? nah, i think i'm exaggerating. it cost the person almost eighty bucks... i think a pack costs a person seven something. on average. coffin nails is right... bah. world's a mess. -
it's called religion. the states are a lot more hardcore with their so called morality than we are. christianity... look it up. i had a pastor from the states. all old glory and eagle. blah.
