This was a great movie. It had a great story, that really was not that predictable.

It sounds like it could be six weeks, so five weeks to go, but after thursday, it could be 4 weeks or maybe even less time than that.

I was reading on one of the news sites entertainment sections or entertainment news sites that apparently this has something to do with American Idol. Apparently, most of the networks decided instead of competing this year, just to run re-runs until AI is on a little less and then they will return with more new episodes. They pulled The Office for the next while apparently to save its ratings, AI won't be on much longer on thursdays, so it will return sometime after AI is not running on thurdays. But I hear it may not return right away either.

I don't see why people think this film is overrated. Also Mark Wahlberg, I thought, did a great job, yeah his character swore a lot, but he wasn't really playing himself, which is why I think he got an Oscar nod.

Doesn't it seem weird that Al Gore is now been made a star out of this? I mean it's interesting to see a doc on global warming do well, but perhaps shouldn't the message be more important than the messenger?

It was alright, funny, but not as good as I hoped.

I don't buy online. I'm talking about a physical store, not an online or apple store. -
The Arcade Fire

I'm listening to the new album now. It's okay so far... I haven't really made an opinion one way or another though. Edit: I notice they re-did "No Cars Go" from the EP... It sounds pretty much the same to me though. -
We need more new episodes of The Office, I have no clue how long the hiatus will be for though.

I enjoy The Empire Strikes Back, but it wasn't better or worse, it's kind have like Pirates...2, it's an inbetween movie. To see the end, you need to see the next one.

I saw The Prestige the other day, I didn't know the ending or anything and I still saw it from the hints. It was pretty clear that it was going to be at least someone who looked like him. It was still a good movie though.

It's kind have like taking TV shows from the seventies and adapting them for the screen.

I've started reading Douglas Adams' "Mostly Harmless", it's pretty good so far.

The Hives Are Liars?!
Matt replied to Matt's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
Green Day is not political, they only did a political album about how "bad" the "Iraq war" was... That's not political, that's cliche. The Hives are more about telling people who think they are "rebels" like Green Day are not actually rebels and are doing exactly what everyone else is doing. Fighting conformity. It's political in a social sense. The Hives are innovative marketers. They gave themselves a huge ego. When I still listenend to the radio, I remember hearing djs play their songs and then trash their ego. However, their music got out there in any event. -
I think this series will be the same as the last one, all about hockey supremacy... I don't think it was quite like the American's Miracle on Ice where it was about capitalism beating the Soviets at what the soviets were best at; because the capitalists were losing to them at all the events they were good at it.

Alright, if you want to say they suck, lets actually discuss "how" they suck? -

Anyone who thinks the Hives suck don't have to discuss them. -

Where do you find stuff to record onto iPods? -
They still count towards the count total.

Each album is great actually. It's all high-energy, politically inspired lyrics that work well together as a unit. For the fans, here's a cool medley they did... It has portions of a White Stripes song, Hellacopters, Outkast, etc... http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=2011661507 -
The Arcade Fire
Matt replied to Hyphnip's topic in Music In General: David Bowie Appreciation Station
That would definitely be cool. I guess though, part of the problem is the band is a side-project for the majority of its members, so, while all of them are on one song or another, they do not necessarily all play together live. -

-Barely Legal (1997) -Vini Vidi Vicious (2000) -Tyranosaurus Hives (2004) Plus they have quite a few EPs... They are a good punk band though because they are quite innovative. I don't really like the "Green Day" type records. -
The Arcade Fire

Shiri, check out www.arts-crafts.ca/bss, BSS is where the Arcade Fire got their sound from. BSS, also has 12-14 members, however, their formula comes from whoever they can get to come help them. Which is why they have added a lot of bigger names in Canadian indie over the years. I have heard some Arcade Fire, it's okay, nothing special though. As for cool indie bands, here's a band that took Interpol as one of their influences... http://www.myspace.com/bandairtrafficcontrol. -
http://www.hivesmusic.com/index.aspx It looks like they could be working on a fourth full-length. The claimed that they would only ever do three. I actually would like to see another album by them though.
