  1. if thom said that, then i guess that solves that, regardless,i think in terms of comparison they are both groups best work, and are similar in their "epicness" i guess, they were the last great rock albums both bands made, i guess you could say ok computer was radiohead "sgt. peppers" or vice versa if you prefer. Anyways both are excellent albums and are among the best ever put to tape. I think in terms of the impact the album had on modern music, i would say sgt.peppers has had a bigger one, mostly because it came out generations earlier but ok computer is the new generation's "sgt pepper." as a side note, i love most of kid a, but to compare it to ok computer? i dont' know about that. and about paranoid android, i love it and its great (I've actually played it live with a band before i like it so much) but i think it amy be too ambitious, like they went out of their way to write a huge song like that, i may be wrong, it just is overrated to me, let down and airbag are far superior i think, no surprises is excellent as well
  2. Pledge - MG Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead Fast Car - Tracy Chapman Round Here - Counting Crows Gabriel - Lamb at the moment, 5 favourite ever is just to hard
  3. i highly doubt sgt pepper influenced ok computer at all, considering the records sound nothing alike. you could clearly make the statement that the beatles opened the doorway for bands making music videos, and bands being creative with tape loops, and the like, but neither of those were original ideas on sgt. pepper. and given that 90% of the "greatest album of all time" listings have given ok computer the top spot, while the others have slotted them in the top five, it's a safe bet to assume it is. think about the format of "a day in the life" and "paranoid android" "you could clearly make the statement that the beatles opened the doorway for bands making music videos, and bands being creative with tape loops, and the like, but neither of those were original ideas on sgt. pepper." hmmm i don't remember saying anythign about tape loops or music videos, but sgt peppers was the first album to have lyrics inside the cd cover and took 162 or some odd days to make and just because it doesn't sound like it exactly doesn't mean that album never influenced radiohead don't get me wrong, i love ok computer and i think its radiohead's best work, but just becuase magazines like spin and the like have said ok computer is the best doesn't mean it is. Critics also get a boner every time radiohead releases an album, whether its crap or not they say its unbelievable, so i don't think a bunch of music critics truly decide how good an album is.
  4. Oh please. Just because an album influenced an another doesn't automatically make it better. i never said that, i just said it revolutionized the way albums were made oh please, moncton you have to be the stupidist person ever to come on an internet message board, and that is saying a lot
  5. hah, that sucks but its hilarious, just the way said it, straight up, hah
  6. I'm pretty sure phish did it, i may very well be wrong but i know i phish fan who swears they did it, who knows
  7. i second rage against the machine, also these are cool limblifter The Weakerthans Coldplay Weezer Pearl Jam Pilate i like simple names oh yeah, "the band", there's a great name
  8. Blue Skies Over Badlands Running For Home Workers Sing a Song of Mass Production Near Fantastica
  9. ok computer is not better than sgt peppers if it wasn't for sgt peppers, ok computer would never have been made, that album revolutionized the way album were made
  10. wow, it seems there's a lot of anti-U2 sentiment on here, for those people, disregard everythign since Achtung Baby. Listen to War, The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree, they are amazing records.
  11. fair statement, this is the kind of discussion we need more of on here, stating your opinion but realizing it is your opinion, and not personally attacking someone who criticized your opinion about music. and Kudos for admitting you like Britney Spears and Nickleback, as 99% of the people on here hate those groups (myself included), there's nothing wrong with liking anything, no matter how hated they may seem. Well done.
  12. Kid A is good, but overated i think. If they took the best songs off of Amnesiac and took the best off of Kid A and put them together, the album would have been wicked. The thing with radiohead is that it gets to a point where it's somewhat unbelievable. I'm a huge fan and always have been, but a lot of their more recent stuff seems like it's art for art's sake, which is too bad. I think they tried to progress to fast and it put them into a corner. I think OK Computer is their best, but the bends is one of the best rock albums of the past 25 years.
  13. there ya go http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2E4XHIU...0W0W99VI2PEQ6WM
  14. you have got to be joking Added to that, Coldplay are an immensely overrated band. weird, moncton disagreeing with me, that rarely happens.
  15. the U2 cover of that on rattle and hum is wicked as well, they do it justice.
  16. everyone covers that song these daysm i have heard the deftones version and its the best cover of that song i have heard
  17. Ian was a wicked drummer, but I would have to say Pat is better, he's so solid. Rich has always been good, ame with Geoff Lloyd. Christian and Dave are both excellent, I like how Dave was more into effects, but Christian is again solid and doesn't try to show off, as many lead guitarists do.
  18. agreed, people always judge him because he writes pop songs, his arrangements are much more complex than most pop bands out there.
  19. Oh man you scared me for a second, just had to make sure it was 2004. c'mon Narcotic, give me some credit here...think I don't pay attention? i know you and pintosack would kick my ass if it was 2005, i respect the bootlegging code.
  20. yes i agree, Pledge live is unreal, the bootleg from the Montreal show on the Avalanche tour is wicked, i love the piano intro
