  1. apparitions (so hard, weapon is a better sogn but apparitions has special meaning) sort of a protest song
  2. Scot, honestly if you talk about your own band one more time I'm gonna lose it. I hope your joking when you mention it in every post.
  3. I said "one of the best things", not the best thing. As the demo was obviously that, a demo, i'm sure he never added electric guitar because its much harder to record than an acoustic, in terms of getting a good sound, so the studio version may have elec, who knows. Who said anythign about Pete Yorn, if your gonna talk about a guy with an acoustic, dylan or springsteen would be the obvious example.
  4. upon even further listening, i believe black helicopter is one of the best things matt has ever done, and its only in demo form, i'm really excited for the new record, he keeps producing excellent music and will continue to do so as long as he makes music i would think.
  5. i finally heard it, and it's excellent, excited for the finished product
  6. I agree. 8c8h8r8a8c8h8t8e8r8s8 i third the motion
  7. maybe if you only look at whats on the radio, you have to remember that time will tell on how big of an impact artists will have, bands like Velvet Underground weren't automatic successes, same goes for many other classic bands, there will always be good music and bad music, these days more bad music is on the radio, i don't think zeppelin saw tonnes of radio play back in the day, they prob get more now on classic rock stations, yes the industry is much more focused on money these days and shitty bands are big financial successes, but there are hundreds of amazing bands out there that you or me or most people hasn't ever heard, music has always been that way, it prob always will be, though i will again state that the late 60's will be hard to beat (Dylan, The Beatles, Hendrix,, Zeppelin, The Who, like c'mon now)and to touch on what hula said, music is about what it means to the individual, its not about financial or legend status or anything like that, it's what it means to those who listen to it, competition is music is really pointless, comparing is alright, but saying this is the definitive best or worst is impossible to discern, cause everyone has different feelings about it.
  8. Musically > Matt Good, Bob Dylan, Wilco, The Beatles, U2, Damien Rice, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Dallas Green, Coldplay, and in a way everything I have ever heard (gives me an idea of what not to play sometimes) Lyrically > Matthew Good, John K, various writers and such
  9. they aren't amazing or anything, but i enjoy "Such Great Heights" very much, the synth in it is wicked.
  10. You could make the aguement that Sigur Ros has really done some different stuff in the past couple years, along with System of a Down, they that started at the end of the 90s, i'm sure there are lots of other artists but i can't seem to recall others at the moment. The point is music will continue to evolve and so forth, though the last 60's will be hard to beat. plus what borntohula said, i agree whole-heartedly.
  11. Listen to it again. I have no proof he sings that exact line but who else could it be? I now can tell its him totally. I can distinguish Tood Kerns, Bif Naked and Trevor Hurst, and i remember reading that Matt only did one line, the second one. Can anyone back me up on this one?
  12. I'm not allowed to say that because I DIDN'T say that. I never said I haven't heard all the tracks off the album, I said I only enjoy a few tracks, you might want to read closely before commenting. I bought Bellaclava the week it came out and was a LL fan long before I/O came out or they toured with MG. "Anyone who thinks I/O is LL's best album is someone who got into the band thanks to Matt Good." that is a pretty uneducated statement and definately untrue in my case, because i did buy Bellaclava right when it came out, I even have a signed poster from when i met them in a record store after the album's release.
  13. Bad - U2 (gotta add letters so it will let me post)
  14. i saw him play that when he opened for dashboard confessional, he was good and i bought the disc, he told my ex gf she looked like anne heche, which she did, he was good shit, the orginal demo of that song is btter i think thna th elabum version, check it out
  15. he sings "when i woke up this morning could've sworn it was judgement day" i was fooled at first as well, he sounds really young in that line.
  16. agreed, and I don't hear anything wrong with the drumming, it is what Ryan wanted, Pat is an excellent drummer and could have done different, more complex stuff, but at first ryan told him "no cymbals" and then let him use a them a little, so that obviously held him back a little. Kurt is an unbelievable drummer as well. I/O is Ryan's best songwriting in my opinion, i only enjoyed a couple of track off of Bellaclava, most notably "Pregnant" (a wicked song btw), and i think Kurt sings on that one, he may have wrote it i'm not sure. I will admit "On The Moon" and "Fiercely Co-0 Dependent" sound similar, but the album is solid, The auctioneer is wicked, as is Alarm Bells, In Out, Jumbo Jet Headache, Soft Signals and Get Money.
  17. beat me to it, good stuff, i see it varies, then LL have little to worry about
  18. He has opened for damien rice and he's good: his myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...A0F759191088046
  19. Dear Prudence - The Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetles
  20. that she is, apparently she's married to john K, thats weird but it isn't, it actually makes a lot of sense.
