I like Copyright but i must admit that is funny, well done.

Avalanche/AOB/BM/Underdogs/WLRRR/LA/LOTGA, but every record is so good.

yes! that's the best way to put it, his voice is an acquired taste but he is an excellent lyricist. I was reading their maplemusic bio and apprently they had a major label deal in the 80's and screwed it up cause they were always high or drunk or something to that extent? weird.

this place would be great if we could cut back on the asskissing at least 25%. Eat balls boyo. First off it's a Matt Good message board, the Matt Good section, and a topic about... Well I'll be damned, it's Matt Good. And second, it's not like I wrote that thinking that just maybe he'd somehow notice and we'd become best friends. Surprise surprise I like Matt Good. Now, you're assholery would be acceptable if you'd done it regarding something I'd said in any number of the other sections of The Bored, but not here pal. Sit on it. hah, well said, well said, i love it

I'm curious what other bands have Christian been playing with other than Matt?

Matt's New Stuff Is Far Too Underated
driftinginfluence replied to driftinginfluence's topic in Matthew Good
Its fine if you don't like it, but I myself don't see the relevance to your arguement. Why are the verse similar? Because that's the intention, they are meant to work off of each other to get the point across, it's a very good songwriting tool. Great lyricists, be it Bob Dylan, Gord Downie or even John K, seem to find a better way to say things in fewer words as their work progresses, choosing to use less words and words with more impact to get their point across, which I think is the mark of a great writer. Someone can make each verse and/or chorus sound completely different and still write completely useless lyrics, turn on your radio right now and you'll equate with what I'm talking about. Its not about how many words he does or doesn't change, but which words he changes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's fair to say that the reason most of us are on this bored is because of Matt's lyrics, expecially those in songs like Pledge, which I would say sheds light on how he felt after the band fell apart, maybe it's just that as a writer I appreciate them more, dunno. Discussion = good -
Matt's New Stuff Is Far Too Underated

i really don't think length has anything to do with it, but regardless, it would be interesting to hear what audio of being would have sounded like if Matt had been able to do what he wanted, not to say it would have been better or worse, just interesting to say the least. -

Be My Husband (Nina Simone cover) - Damien Rice -
Its interesting to see that the majority of fans prefer mgb stuff to mg solo stuff, which is weird to me because: A) Matt's musicianship on the new stuff is better (esp Avalanche) B) His singing has improved tenfold from mgb records C) Avalanche is arguably the best album lyrically of anything he's done D) the new stuff, like Blue Skies, Avalanche, WWWHR, Pledge, is much more epic, and has more varied instrumentation (liberty bells, pedal steel, timpani, choirs etc) I am a huge fan of all his work but recently i have come to the conclusion that Avalanche is by far his best record, as much as i love AOB amd BM, i grew up to those records, but Avalanche is so good. Just an opinion, let the bashing + discussion begin! Plus his live shows now are the best there has ever been.

here...> http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm to download the program and here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central.htm to get the flac and wma codecs don't download too many more codecs, it slows down the program
-
get db music converter from www.download.com and download the wma codec and the flac codec as well.
-
i have to agree, i convert the shows to wma myself to play on my personal player, but i don't trade those converted files. The tapers provide us with shows, understand where they are coming from.

Save Your Scissors - City and Colour (aka Dallas Green) -
Matt played tripoli with his new band at a couple of their first shows in 2002, and played under the influence around the same time and on the avalanche tour, the fall of man was only played with mgb prior to AOB's release.

driftinginfluence replied to driftinginfluence's topic in Matthew Good
good i'm not crazy i thought maybe i dreamed it. -
I am positive matt played 21st century living for the second winnipeg show but it is not on the setlist on mg.org, can anyone else clarify this? I remember cause we all did the "it's all right sooner or later" part.

i would have to say Avalanche for me, just because of the dynamics, Rat and suburbia are also good live and Pledge, everything he does live is good but those stand out to me
