i'm not so much fascinated with Matthew Good the person, as many other people are on this board, as i am with his music and voice. I just love MG simply because he makes incredibly beautiful music. He has an amazing voice and is an incredibly gifted songwriter/musician. He also brings a bonus of intelligence to his music and lyrics which is always cool. Its a also a nice bonus for me as a fan that Matt is a pretty cool guy who goes against the norm and voiced his opinions. His Manifesto's were particularily cool back in the day. I miss those. I love politics, but his politically-charged blogs get really boring for me.

exactly. I use Limewire also. Try going on whatever p2p program u have at different times of the day, and every once and a while you'll find new songs. Just be patient. Last night i found Pony Boy and 'As Long as Your Mine' on Limewire.

In my newspaper today i just read an article that describes the exact thing i brought up in this thread! The article mentioned that the U.S. wants to invade (or re-invade) the Iraqi city of Fallujah, which is home to a very large insurgency. However, the US expects high US casualties and extremely high civilian casualties...so the military is delaying the invasion until after the election, and possibly until January because of important muslim holidays like Ramadan that are coming soon. the article mentions that the U.S. (or Bush?) wouldn't think having pictures of dead Iraqi civilians and US soldiers all over the news would be good during election season. interesting.....

the reason anyone (including right-wingers) would ridicule Chretien for not getting rid of the GST is because it was a large election promise that Chretien made during his first campaign to be PM back in 1992(?). But in reality, yeah its probably not wise to get rid of the GST anytime soon. It will be us, our children, and our grandchildren who will be the ones paying ever-increasing taxes to erase the debts our parents generation left us with. ...Add that to the fact that the same baby-boomer generation is getting older so we'll be paying ever-increasing taxes to take care of their healthcare. dang taxes!! ;)

Was watching 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' last night, and he was talking about the news and such. He also had on Richard Clarke. Someone was saying (not a joke) that the Bush admin has a military operation in Iraq they want to do (probably invading some city w/ high resistance) but they expect this operation to have a very high US casualities, so they are waiting until after the election to start this operation (obviously because this would affect Bush's approval rating). Now, i'm not sure if the military would do this operation even if Kerry gets in, and are just waiting it out so it doesn't become political and screw with the election, or that this is something that the Bush admin wants to do and Kerry likely wouldn't. I'm not sure on the specifics but its something y'all can look into if u want.

true, and its also kinda communist. ie: nobody owns the land, people share everything. But yeah, tribes are very small, and everyone knows each other. It just doesn't work that way in a huge society where nobody gives a rip about anyone else they see on the street. too bad. maybe their should be more empahsis put on communities, and get people to socialize with each other. Seriously, when was the last time you talked to at least 2 of your neighbours (from different houses).

Actually McGuinty said he would "not cut taxes, but not raise them either". woops. Actually Pierre Trudeau was the Prime Minister who left Canada with the massive national debt. While Trudeau was PM, Canada's debt rose by 1,200 per cent, from $17 billion to over $200 billion. Because of Trudeau's socialist spending, Canada then had to run deficits and borrow money, which balooned Canada's national debt to over 500 million. Its was then that Mulroney (yuck) introduced the GST to try and reduce the deficit/debt. actually Martin erased Canada's deficit, which was 42 billion, not our national debt...which still remains over 500 billion dollars. (Merci Trudeau) Chretien didn't do anything bad? Have you been reading the freakin' newspaper over the last 5+ years? He's an arrogant, corrupt, lying sack of shit.

te scary thing is that Bush has a very good chance of winning. Kerry has been running a completely crappy campaign. Bush's camp has totally run over the democrats, and the dems look like kitty-cats when they try to fight back. Kerry's ad campaign stinks, while Bush and anti-Kerry groups are always on the attack seemingly. Kerry has been stuck defending his war record, while he is totally missing the opportunity to stomp on Bush and the brutal Iraq war. Michael Moore has done more for Kerry than anything.

that argument you just posed kicks ass. I'm anti-gun, but that is a powerful argument. That may explain why statistics do show that more guns actually = a safer society. -
thank you. i guess i'll be reading for awhile. it still makes me kinda wonder though if all this stuff is true, why haven't they impeached the Bushy-boy yet?

how many more deaths in Iraq?
Moonlight_Graham replied to juanpe's topic in Politics and Debate: WRONG!
How was the war for money or oil? The war has caused the US to plunge into record deficits and it has shaken an already damaged economy. As for oil, i have yet to hear a good argument that the reason for the Iraq war was primarily for oil. I welcome a link to any. I really do believe, in my heart of hearts, that Bush & his admin did go into Iraq for anti-terrorist reasons and to rid the world of these WMD's that don't exist. I just think that the US intelligence did an incredibly poor job, and Bush and the other decision-makers invaded a country based on "a high probability" they would find WMD's, intead being 100% certain. You just don't invade a country unless you know for 100% fact that they have WMD's. hurray for stupidity.
