  1. Between Christmas and Boxing Day shopping, I picked up quite a few games for the PS4: Assassin's Creed Unity GTA V Rocksmith 2014 Metal Gear Solid V And also picked up Sims 4 for PC. Unity is pretty good so far. I like the story a lot, but if it wasn't so flawed in terms of glitches and such, it would be a great game.
  2. Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I've forgotten about some of the artists you mentioned, so I'll be going through the lists and getting reconnected. Have always loved Jeff Buckley. Such a shame that he passed away so early into his career.
  3. Hey everyone. I've been in a bit of a rut lately, musically speaking. I've just been listening to MG, The National, and podcasts, because I am so tired of the music on my iPod. Can anyone recommend a new band to try out? Some of my favourites already: Matthew Good The National We Were Promised Jetpacks Gaslight Anthem Against Me! Rise Against Kings of Leon July Talk I just recently found Royal Blood. They're pretty great. But that's pretty much it. Anyone know a band I should check out? Thanks.
  4. Love hearing the insights into some of these songs. I've always wondered about the various background noises throughout the Rooms recordings. Very cool.
  5. Its a real bummer that Kathleen Edwards quit music. I loved her music.
  6. Thanks Matt, for clearing all that up. I love the sound that you're getting, and it feels very raw and haunting. If something stayed the same for decades, it would be beyond stale. I like that you can change musical styles and tones and keep making incredible music That mix of Waits and Hollis would be something else!! I also apologize for starting the whole preorder thing!! I thought it was odd/early to have it as a May release
  7. Is it bad that I don't really want any of these demos to change? Love that this new album is shaping up to not be a straight up rock record. Love the quieter sound. It's haunting.
  8. I bought Ghosts, and barely played it. I've tried several times to get into it, and just can't. I'm pretty much done with the series. The new one is different, but I'm not buying into it anymore. I think MW2 was the best one overall, and they haven't hit it since.
  9. That's weird that all but two of the cities are in the western part of Canada.
  10. Yeah, I don't understand the logic of shipping a broken game, then rushing to patch it when people start to complain. GTA V had the same issue when it was released. Understandable in that case, due to the sheer size and scope of the game.
  11. I'm buying it on Boxing Day, for sure. I was debating it, but there was really no doubt that I wouldn't get it. The new first person looks awesome. I just never really loved the online. I was getting tired of constantly dying or getting fucked with when trying to actually do something. I haven't heard of too many problems with Unity. I know there were some initially, but I thought most of those had been cleared up. I don't know for sure though.
  12. I've been playing this game for a year and a half now, pretty much non-stop. I bought it for PS3 upon release, played it like crazy, then took a month off or so. Then bought the PS4 version on release day, and haven't stopped playing it since. It's an incredible game. The MP is addictive. I'm also playing NBA 2K15. Would love to grab the new Assassin's Creed, and maybe GTA V again, for PS4 this time. Although I don't know if I want to start over on that massive game.
  13. I know. I wasn't even looking for it. Just happened to see the listing. Chapters is funny that way. They list books that aren't coming out for another year on there. HMV doesn't have it, but Amazon has it listed as the same date: http://www.amazon.ca...ds=matthew+good I'm guessing it has to do with the label setting a date for the release already. I'm sure it could change if they wanted to.
  14. I don't know if they still sell them, but I remember Bel Air Music selling songbooks back in the day. They did have MGB books from some of the earlier stuff. Would be awesome if they still make them. Will do some digging online. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/THE-MATTHEW-GOOD-BAND-Guitar-Tab-Software-Lesson-CD-FREE-BONUSES-/331373837148?pt=Music_CDs&hash=item4d276b7b5c Only thing I could find related to Matt. Hal Leonard still makes the books. I used to have a few of them back then. Wish I had looked for one of Matt's.
  15. Los Alamos is my new favourite now!! I don't think it needs to be changed a bit. Love the minimalist vibe. Could listen to it on a loop all day. This record is shaping up to be fantastic! Did you know the new album is coming out May 15th? LOL. Just saw this while searching on Chapters: http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/entertainment/music/tbd/825646212446-item.html?ikwid=matthew+good&ikwsec=Home&ikwidx=4
  16. Please do. That'd be great. Im going to have to start hanging out at the used record stores in town now, just to see what I can find.
  17. Thanks for the advice. I didn't want to drop too much anyways, just to get started. I also have to add to my collection if I want to make buying a turntable practical. I'm hoping Best Buy will throw them on sale for Boxing Day. The ability to hook them up to the computer is awesome. I'd love to convert some vinyl to MP3.
  18. Hey everyone. I've been collecting a fair bit of vinyl over the past few years, and have a decent amount now. I've been thinking about buying a player now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has bought one lately. How much would I hve to spend to buy a decent player? I'm also assuming that vinyl depreciates if you play it. Is it worth it for me to open them to play, or should I just hold onto them? Thanks for the help.
  19. Love the improvements you made to this version Matt. Sounds like it has a lot more depth now. Sounded great on my phone too.
  20. Ha ha nice!
  21. I feel the same way. Learning the scales is a must. Pretty much everything follows those scales. It's much easier to pick things up by ear after getting them down. I usually look at tabs to get the basic chords and go from there.
  22. It's cool and nostalgic to see labels releasing cassettes again, but I wouldn't even have anything to play it anymore!
  23. I'm never throwing anything out ever again!!
  24. It's called SharePod, but it's not free anymore. http://www.getsharepod.com/ Worked well for me in the past. There are tons of them out there though.
  25. Thanks for the tips. One of my favorite songs, and I'd love to play along.
