Matt and Dave wanted to go in different directions. Dave was a perfectionist and tracked everything 9000 times, this caused a slower pace than Matt wanted to move at (hence why he recorded WLRRR in 9 days). That's why Matt's not a fan of audio of being, it's a representation of the band members pulling in different directions. I'm sure Dave being a drug addict wasn't helping matters, either.

In Canada, singles for sale are not as common as they are in Europe. So no, the majority of his singles do not get released for public consumption.

There were plans to package one with WLRRR about 6 months prior to its release. However I think Universal wanted to see how WLRRR sold before making that investment. Unfortunately Avalanche sold under expectations and so far WLRRR has absolutely tanked, so I think it might be a while until we see a DVD unless this next single does extremely well (and moves records).

There are technically 4 versions of Near Fantastica: 1. The version written in the late 90's. The lyrics are available online but it was never recorded. It was apparently very different from the version that popped up on Avalanche. 2. The Avalanche album version. 3. The 'radio-edit', same song as the shortened version that was featured on HOSAM. This version was actually the original version of Near Fantastica for Avalanche. It was recorded first, and then Matt went back into the studio and elongated the song to 8-9 minutes and decided to put the longer cut on Avalanche. He used the original, shorter cut, as the radio version. 4. The acoustic version aka "The Nation of Cool remix".

The radio edit of Near Fantastica is the original version.

Security is VERY tight during Frosh week concerts. The only way you can get in is if you know someone who is helping organize the event who goes there. And even then I wouldn't get my hopes up.
