amen to that.

If that's his motivation for doing it, that's fine. I merely wanted clarification as if I personally were doing it, would post it ASAP as a thank-you to the people who visit the site and make such anniversaries possible, rather than dangle it over their heads for no apparent reason other than to adhere to useless numbers and the like. Or for that matter, if I was anal to the point that I wanted it posted on that specific date (which is certainly understandable), I wouldn't say I had it sitting on my hard drive and then say "it'll be up in 3 weeks". For the record, I should say I don't care much for said interview, just thought I'd echo the sentiments of I'm sure many others. Please post your replies now about how I don't own this board and not only can I not get what I want, but I can't discuss it either. k thx.

so I'm not allowed to question his logic?

oh god. if I was Dave Genn I would take issue with that.

yeah, posting them on the date of the 13th is incredibly retarded. Why not post them when you get them? I understand it's your one-year anniversary, but what is there to gain by making people wait until then? It's not like this is a business and this is some grand marketing strategy.

All the below are worth checking out: Hawksley Workman, Sam Roberts, Broken Social Scene, Buck 65, The Weakerthans, Matthew Barber, Metric, Stars, The Unicorns, K-OS, New Pornographers, Hayden, The Arcade Fire, Ron Sexmith, The Constantines, GYBE!, Sloan. I'd say that's a pretty damn impressive list. And that's just canadian artists that are putting out music now.

singles. The label puts this stuff together, I wouldn't be surprised if he had no input on this. I'm guessing it'll be most the MGB singles + a couple of other tracks from the MGB albums + Pony Boy & All Together. If they're feeling really ambitious, maybe they'll have him film a video for Pony Boy.

If you honestly think that Matthew Good is one of the best artists in the history of music, you need to go listen to more music. Not by a long shot. That said, he's certainly not terrible, he released two truly great records with MGB and the rest of the material then was pretty great. Since he went solo he's released a couple of decent records. Avalanche was a nice departure from the MGB days (which I believe was the point). WLRRR was again a departure from his past work. That's respectable for sure, but when the need to be drastically different from record to record begins compromising the quality of the output, it's not worth it. WLRRR is a great record to see performed live but save 2 or 3 songs, it's not much else and I certainly can't see myself ever listening to it again. Hopefully down the line he'll come back with a new record, because if he leaves now he most certainly won't be leaving on a high note. And as a side, there's a lot of great Canadian music being produced right now, just because it's not on the radio doesn't mean it's not out there. I'm going to assume you're going through the phase where literally all you listen to is MG/MGB or MG/MGB related bands (ie: Limblifter, Todd Kerns, The Who, Talk Talk).

this should produce hilarious results.

I'd be surprised if Rich and Christian didn't quit (if they're indeed gone). I can't imagine they'd be happy waiting around doing nothing while Matt takes an indefinite amount of time off.

Thoughts On 'the Office' Christmas Special?
OWJeeves replied to The Foot's topic in Rentals, Television, and Readables
I find it to be quite glorious. It was really created to give some closure to the Tim/Dawn storyline more than anything else. But it definitely had some hilarious moments on top of moments where you genuinely feel bad for Brent (the part where he gets the beer thrown at him in the austin powers costume was particularly pathetic). And perhaps I'm the only one, but I find Series 2 to be funnier than Series 1 (although it's still fantastic). -
He has said several times in the past 1-2 months that he may be done with music. If I had to bet on it though, I'd put all my money on another record coming out at some point. Might be a bigger wait than people are used to though.

greatest hits + pony boy and all together (to be marketed as the 'unreleased' material) most likely.

Actually, what us Canadians get instead of Ed is a combo of The Steve Harvey Show and Cosby. Lame. Apparently it has to do with rights issues, TBS wanted to air it in Canada but it would cost them likes ten times as much. You should download them since who knows if there'll ever be a DVD release. I'm quite enjoying revisiting all these classic episodes I haven't seen in years. Season 1 was glorious.

The episodes I've been downloading are 900mb, 480x480 resolution in MPG format (SVCD format). I've been re-enocded each one after downloading to 420mb, 352x240 resolution in MPG format (VCD Format). It allows me to fit 10 episodes to each disc. Takes about 2-2.5 hours to download each episode, but if you have a faster connection, it's possible to get like 700k/sec over newsgroups. if you want some more info go to http://www.stuckeybowl.net click Message Board on the right-hand side and then go into the "Pro Shop".

FOX has cut the order for Arrested Development for this season (it's speculated that this season will go from 22 episodes to 17) so they can air American Dad in its timeslot (those idiots are labelling American Dad a success because its pilot got big ratings, not taking into account the only reason it got big ratings is because it had the fucking Super Bowl as its lead-in). According to David Cross (Tobias) they've already shut down production on the show. Rumours are all over the place that the show will be cancelled all together in the next few days. To my knowledge, no show has gone from having their order trimmed to having a full season the following year. It's also the first time that a show that won the Outstanding Comedy Series award at the Emmys will be cancelled in the following year. Even the writers admit American Dad was created to fill the Family Guy gap (which is why its a shameless rip-off). With FG coming back, this show really is unnecessary. FOX is retarded.
-
If you live in the states, it's airing daily on TBS. Me being in Canada am deprived and after searching the web thoroughly found a newsgroup that posts the episodes of the show (in very high quality). I'm downloading the show as it airs daily and have so far burned half of Season 1 to DVD. Probably the most underrated show on television in recent years, shame it ended so early.
-
they're cancelling arrested development because of this show. Not worth it at all. Family Guy is enough for me in the animated department.
-
matt took care of it like 2 years ago.

I have it on CD but I'm far too lazy to go find it.

no need. http://www.mgtabarchive.com/

he listens to his stuff before he goes out on tour, to get setlist ideas.
